I find claiming the Jailkeeper to be quite risky. No one's called him on it yet, but Jailkeeper tends to be more of a scum role, in the same sense that Roleblocker is. In light of its apparent success, though, the claim was ballsy and well-executed.

I held my breath there a bit when reading the "Is this Normal?" discussion, because the answer is unequivocally "Yes." This game is designed to be a bit experimental, and is intended to stress-test the new Normal guidelines. Role Madness isn't usually something you associate with Normals, but there's only three VTs and one Goon.

This is an entertaining game to read so far.

Daytalk is essentially equivalent to a decent scum PR *if utilized properly*

There are games where I was able to use daytalk to completely run the game. Depends on your partners.

Hi Flubber. Personally, I consider your lynch the worst kind of lurkerlynch. It was EOD, ill-considered, scum-driven, and not very informative. The upside is that you're one of the few VTs, so there isn't a mechanical loss for Town. If HitAlt had been lynched, that would have been a blow for Town, especially as he's about to identify the SK.

Oooooh, spicy. Looks like Mafia is going to shoot our SK. This will make the HitAlt guilty on him absolutely damning, as when he claims Vig, there won't be a second kill to point to.

Night 1 notifications:

HitAlt

In the night, you put together the clues surrounding
the worst
, and come to the unmistakable conclusion that he
has indeed attempted murder
!

Unrelated to this conclusion, you have also determined that
Raskolnikov visited you
, but his intentions are unclear.

Raskolnikov

A courier arrived in the night, bearing a mysteriouly-giftwrapped
banana
. You are not sure what, if any, purpose it serves.

Andrius

As things settle down following Pine's outburst and murderous rage, you settle down on the couch with
Chickadee
, and the ensuing conversation allows you to professionally analyze her. As the discussion progresses, you come to the unmistakable conclusion that
she is indeed capable of murder
!

Unrelated, a courier arrived in the night, bearing a mysteriouly-giftwrapped
banana
. You are not sure what, if any, purpose it serves.

dramonic

As things settle down following Pine's outburst and murderous rage, you brew some coffee. Alone in the kitchen, you do not hear someone sneak up behind you until the knife enters your back.

You have
died
! The mod/dead thread is now open to you.

the worst

Wiping dramonic's blood from your knife, you settle in to watch Taly for the night. Unfortunately, he
did not go anywhere
, so far as you can tell.

Welcome dram ^^

Sorry you died. Jailkeeper is one of my favorite roles, and I was looking forward to the Prime-Night modifier in action.

TW sneaked in just under the wire with his kill. Things would have gone very differently had he forgotten. We'd have had no death, and HitAlt's investigation would have been clean. That may have changed the game.

Taly may have been wrong about dram, but his current Townbloc and Townleans are 100% correct. Impressive when you consider the current ratio is 11:3:1, and he's got 8/11.

Shame he likely does not have the clout to push that Townbloc to victory.

Well, the fact that TW shot scum is going to work in his favor. If he doesn't out his result before dying, it may die with him. HitAlt is sure to be a priority target for your team now. That said, Rask protected him N1 and may continue to do so with the partial claim out there.

Things may also hinge on whether your buddies guess that TW was a 1-shot BP, or assume he was Doctored, or Sky was blocked.

From the scum PT:
In post 177, Skygazer wrote:I think a few people are very close to solving and I also see a lot of really off reads/solves

I do think that we hit a huge setback and that night actions will play a huge part in game solving later on so MoI if there's any kind of result/claim/whatever I can fake in the game thread to muddy the waters without getting one of us lynched I'd love to hear it
I think this is half of an excellent analysis. She's missing the fact that a Town with both near-solves and off reads can be tipped if you surgically eliminate the good reads. She's also missing that an exceptional night for PRs means most of them are now outed, and they can pick them off as needed

So just for the record, HitAlt is claiming that he "knows he was targeted for a kill last night"...that's bullshit. He wasn't, and nothing he was given suggests it. I have no idea where he's getting it from or where he's going with it.

I believe PGO is always non-Normal per new rules. It was permissible under the old greylist rule, but did not qualify for the new whitelist.

If any of you more-experienced mods has any reaction or advice with regards to how I handled the non-hammer there, I'd be interested to hear it.

It is my policy to bump replacing-out players to non-voting status, but here that caused what appeared to be a hammer, with the usual shenanigans surrounding a perceived but incorrect hammer. Except this time it was my rule quirk which caused it, rather than player subterfuge. Did I rob scum of a well-deserved (and badly-needed) mislynch? Or is it simply "no lynch is final until mod confirms it" territory?

I'm a bit anxious, because I can see both sides of it. I decided to stick to my policy here, but I'm not sure it was the right choice.

Scum are doing a really solid combination of distancing/bussing and scum theatre. If it works out for them, it's probably worth a Scummy nom.

Well, the problem is that I hadn't really made the policy explicit.

On the contrary, the Town PRs have been getting lucky, and there are an obscene number of potential clears.

TW is essentially caught. He doesn’t make it to LYLO.
Skygazer and Profii have both been heavily wagoned.
MoI botched his claim, essentially locking himself into a slow-burning 1v1 with Ausuka.

I think Town has this in the bag.

Scum’s best chance might be to start shooting investigatives and hope the bussing between Skygazer and Profii saves one of them. If left alive, I’m pretty sure TW shoots MoI eventually.

You would have a fair point regarding the "recent whitelisting" thing, but there's no indication that HWS misunderstands.

Everything in the changes thread is fair game. Aside from VT and Goon, every role has some aspect which was recently whitelisted.
Also this PM thread we exchanged makes it explicit.

Actions so far:

Raskolnikov loudly doctors Ausuka (Ausuka will receive a notification)
Ausuka fruitvends to brassherald (brassherald receives a peach)
Jingle visits the worst (Nothing happens)
GammaEmerald detects Profii (GEmerald finds no incriminating evidence)
Skygazer kills Almost50 (A50 dies!)
MagnaofIllusion chooses not to act
the worst kills A50 and tracks Ausuka (A50 still dies, the worst sees Ausuka visit brassherald)

Ausuka

In the night, you are jerked awake from your fitful doze by a clumsy racket. You catch a glimpse of
Raskolnikov
, and are able to determine that he
visited you
, though you can't determine his intention.

Brassherald

A courier arrived in the night, bearing a mysteriouly-giftwrapped
peach
. You are not sure what, if any, purpose it serves.

Gamma Emerald

Following xyzzy's grisly death, you go over your notes regarding
profii
, and come to the conclusion that, as yet,
profii has not committed murder
.

the worst

Following xyzzy's grisly death, you are possessed of an urge to
kill again
. You wait until
Almost50
is alone, and slip some of the
arsenic
you conveniently have laying around into his drink. Confident this has done the job, you sneak about and
follow Ausuka
around. Your stealthy machinations are creepy enough to see her
visit brassherald
!

Forgot to write this one for A50:

After xyzzy's grisly murder, you resolve to have a good time. A little thing like death shouldn't keep you from booze a decent board game! So you mix yourself a nice
Jack and Coke
, and settle on the couch to wait for Pine to come back downstairs. Hmmm...this is taking a while...you
don't feel so great
...why is everything blurry? Your stomach hurts. Actually...your
everything
hurts! Fade to black...shouldn't have left your
drink unattended

Yeah because you didn't submit an action, fam. Even with a 12-hour warning and a few hour grace period after the deadline passed.

tw got his in with less than an hour to spare, for the record. It's the second time in a row he's almost forgotten.

Also for the record, tw's Tracker shots are expended. With his BP shot spent, tracker shots gone, and the multitasking modifier irrelevant, he's a straight, vanilla SK.

VOTE: Ausuka

The only way this vote is moving might (and only might) be to Skygazer who is pretty obvious scum.

Anyone who doesn't see that clearing Brass (who 0.00% of the playerbase thought was scum) as opposed to confirming I'm scum as she was whining about yesterday or clearing in the Pool of Death is 100% scum motivated play as opposed to game solving.

If you don't see that I can't help you. In which case go ahead and flip me today. It locks in Ausuka scum with my Town flip and minimizes the WIFOM damage her "clears" will do down the line (which right now is mostly only Rask IMO) and confirm both Nos and Chickadee as lock-Town.
This is a really solid argument, and I kinda hope MoI pulls it off.

How are you not a high-info flip? When you flip Loyal FV, everyone you've vended to gets hardcleared. It also serves as a hard counter to MoI's claim (which is likely why he's apathetic - he got screwed by claim.)

Also, if MoI doesn't get lynched today, the smart play would be to have him not vend and claim to have received something from him. It's a soft inno when he's revealed as a Disloyal FV.

Not going to bother replacing MoI. TW locked in his kill there, and Rask is protecting Ausuka...who Skygazer has sent a kill on.

I’m definitely going to get “overpowered Town!” complaints here. Well, tough. Scum had plenty of power. Town has gotten ridiculously lucky with their shots, and has skillfully used them to take the scumteam apart.

Skygazer is my dark horse to win, though, due to some especially effective bussing.

I'd consider this a mistake in moderation because a MoI replacement could influence Skygazer to change night actions.

Pretty sure the only scum with an icecube's chance in hell is Skygazer, and it's not much more than that icecube's. Town PRs were too on the ball. Scum losing their best role N1 helped, and the crosskills are just murdering them. At dawn of D4, tw will have accounted for half the Mafia team solo, including both of their meaningful PRs. They also hit his BP on N1, so they know exactly who and what he is. Profii really ought to have outed him fully, but I don't think it will matter.

GEmerald

In the night, you put together the clues surrounding
Jingle
, and come to the determination that, thus far, his hands are
clean of violence
.

However, as you chuckle slyly to yourself and pour a Scotch to toast your cleverness, you feel a pinprick in your neck.
A dart...?
Wha...? Things are fading...

You have
died
! Feel free to join us in the dead thread!

Irrelephant

A courier arrived in the night, bearing a mysteriouly-giftwrapped
orange
. You are not sure what, if any, purpose it serves.

Kokichi Oma

As you leave your private deliberations with your partner,
a dark figure
leaps out of the shadows, bearing a bat! Try as you might to defend yourself, you are
bludgeoned to death
without mercy.

You have
died
! Feel free to join us in the dead thread!

Ausuka

Ever so quietly, you leave a package for
Irrelephant
. On your way back to the group, you notice
a shadowy figure
trailing you. An errant shaft of light illuminates
Raskolnikov
's face. His intentions are not clear.

Like the prime number thing etc
All HWS knows is that every role (aside from VTs and Goon) has a component which was recently whitelisted.

*shrug* Like I said, it's my personal view. If you give out anything but the broadest hints, it becomes semi-Open at best, which isn't Normal.

Ftr I don’t think this is an inevitable town slam dunk. Skygazer and tw need to leave each other alone, eliminate Ausuka, and then take the clears apart. They could outpace the PoE-by-lynch rate.

Okay. Assume: 1) Town does not lynch any fruit clears 2) Nor any otherwise-obvious clears, or those who can make verifiable claims 3) tw and Sky do not shoot for each other 4) Both manage to evade lynches and guilties 5) All kills go through and they don't double up again

Safe-ish Townies
Ausuka (Universally TR, vendor)
Raskolnikov (Received fruit)
brassherald (Received fruit)
Irrelephant (Received fruit)

Should-be-safe-ish
Chickadee

D4 ML a non-clear Townie i.e. HWS
N5 Kill Ausuka and a safe Townie (Chickadee or Rask if they're smart)
D6 Lynch in {Nos, Jingle, Chick} (Probably the former)
N6 Kill the other important Townie, and another safe
<For argument's sake, let's assume HWS lynch, Ausuka/Rask kill, Nos lynch, Chick/brassherald kill>
D7 Players are now {tw, Sky, Irrelephant, Jingle, Brass} Irrelephant and Brass are still effectively clear, so scum's best chance is a Jingle lynch, maybe?

There's a path to victory for pretty much everyone, but it requires Town not following through on some good housekeeping strategies, like Doccing your best investigator (Ausuka) or policying tw before LYLO, or something clever like getting a free lynch by policying Chickadee and letting her shoot a question mark.

Probably a fatal error. Claiming vanilla big will be disproven when HWS flips. He’d have been better off claiming part of his real role. Vigilante Multitasking 2-shot Tracker might have been bought

Well that’s probably game. Unless Ausuka dies tonight, she has Skygazer dead to rights. She immediately PMed me a fruit vend to Sky. I mean, maybe Skygazer has a Scummy-worthy moment of insight and claims the fruit, but I doubt it.

Never mind. That’s definitely game. TW is stabbing Skygazer, and Rask is fixed on Ausuka. Sky flips red, TW gets turbo-lynched.

Pity. This would have been the best Vig performance I’ve ever seen, and I’m including my turn as Vig in NY211

No idea. The former is bad play, the latter merely unlucky.

Tbh I would almost let him win with Town if he immediately surrendered. He’d deserve the credit.

But that’s not how the game works. He had other choices.

Yeah he's whining in his logbook thread because he knows he's screwed. He was betting on you being Town.
