Red Larch

Red Larch is a town on the Long Road, a few days' travel north of Waterdeep and a few days' travel South of Triboar. It's a way to stop for caravans coming to or from the cities of the North, with an inn named the Swinging Sword, a tavern called the Helm at Highsun, and many craftspeople who cater to travelers.

It is here that the group arrived with Endrith Vallivoe, the local merchant.

"Well, I guess we leave off here, thanks to the five of you for escorting me to my destination, as agreed, you can have 10 gold each."

the olive skinned human hands over 50 gold pieces for Joell to hand out.

"Be sure to visit my store later, and maybe some of the folk around here have work for you."

Endrith said as he rode his cart away.

Harald looked at his companions. "Good work, everyone. I felt that job went exceedingly well. Shall we divide the spoils now, Mr. Wilder, or shall we find accommodations first?" One eyebrow raised slightly as he surveyed Red Larch. "This town certainly is no Waterdeep, but I'm sure we can find something suitable."

"If there's one thing I don't like," Joell said, already counting out the gold, "it's holding onto more money than I need. Here, ten for each of you." He pockets his share, then yawns. "I don't know about you lot, but I could do with a drink. Five days on the road with only my flask is quite enough, thanks."

"A drink sounds excellent, might be able to put this gold to work there as well", Smoke says, pocketing gold with one hand while shuffling cards with the other.

Ellywick takes the coins and puts them in her belt pouch. At the suggestion of getting a drink, Ellywick merely nods and begins humming a soft tune. While the others talk above her head, she checks to make sure Wix, her pet mouse, is comfortable in her bag. After putting him away, she also tries to take in everything she can about this town: the people, the buildings, and even the surrounding nature.

Aderyn takes her gold from Joell, and then asks, 'Perhaps we should visit the Helm at Highsun?'

His dark eyes narrow. "That sounds fancy." A moment passes, then he grins as a gleam appears in his eyes. "I'm in. Let's do it." He affects a deep bow and sweeps his arm out, indicating the road ahead. "Lead the way!"

You are outside the Swinging Sword, an inn slightly to the North of the main crossroads of Red Larch, it is luxurious by this small town's standards. A sign hangs from a chain that has a scimitar on it and the name of the tavern in red letters emblazoned on either side. Some guy was letting out yelps down the road that were about how good this place actually is.

Harald noticed by the crossroads on the other side had been the Allfaith's Shrine, where priests will come to preach to this small town, which is mostly a trading stop. He remembers that at any time the Shrine will have a two priests from two different faiths.

Right across the street, as Aderyn pointed out, is the Helm at Highsun, there is an oversized adornment of a warrior's bucket helm with two eye slits. The windows are small and dirty and covered by rusty slats. In short, it seems like your kind of place.

There are some large sheds right across the street where wagons keep going, you actually can see the same wagon you rode in on being brought into those sheds now.

Nearby you see a tanner's shop, but most overwhelming are the smells of fresh baked goods coming from the building across the street from the Allfaith Shrine.

For reference, in order 1 is the AllFaith Shrine, 2, the swinging sword, 3 the tavern, 5 the sheds, 6 the tanner, and 7 the bakery.

"You all are sure you want the Helm? You don't think the inn looks much more inviting?" Harald exhaled in defeat. "I see how it is." He paused for a moment. "Actually, why don't you all go ahead? That bread smells delicious, and I imagine it's a lot better than tavern fare."

Without waiting for a reaction, he walked towards the bakery.

"We can stay at the inn if we need to overnight, but everyone knows cheap food is the best food." Ellywick smirks. "but enjoy your bread, Harald." Assuming the others will follow her, Ellywick strolls into the tavern and cases the place. Unless she is stopped by some remarkable sight or sound, she climbs her way onto a bar stool and orders meat, cheese, and a mug of ale.

At the urging of my growling stomach, I decide to join Harald at the bakery

"Get me a bearclaw!" Joell hollers after Harald's retreating back. He follows Ellywick into the inn and joins her at the bar unless she doesn't get that far.

Confused by the sudden split, but quietly slides in behind Joell and starts looking for anyone playing cards or dice.

As Joell and Smoke enter the inn, they see a woman of middle age talking to a man with one eye, each of you hears some of what she is saying sounding similar to "the dark things". But then she catches a glance of the two adventurers and says aloud She smiles at the two there and says,

Ellywick sees a bartender who helps him and just one other patron right now, a halfling sitting in the corner.

As Harald and Aderyn enter the bakery, they see a sign saying it is Lorren's Bakery. The breads in the shop seem delicious, but perhaps most proudly displayed are the sheese topped breads with mushroom cheese. The staunch looking man behind the counter says to them,

"Ah, you must be Lorren! I've been travelling all day and could use some good bread. I don't suppose you have anything with caraway in it? Rye is preferred, but I'm not picky."

Ellywick notices no one joined her, but she doesn't mind - she's used to finding her way alone. She feeds some of the cheese to Wix, then picks up her food and drink. She carries it over to the halfling, gives a smile, and winks. "Mind if I join you? My companions are busy exploring town, it seems, so I'm just looking for a little company till they come back to find me. Are you from around these parts?"

'Hello!' Aderyn says as she enters the bakery. 'I'd like three of those,' she tells Lorren, pointing to the mushroom-cheese tops breads. 'They smell like the roasted mushrooms my mother used to make when I was younger.'

'Do a lot of travelers pass through this town?' she asks him as he wraps up her bread.

"Yeah, we'll have--oh," he says, seeing that Ellywick has wandered off to make friends with a local. Not presuming to speak for Smoke, who is , he starts again. "I'll have some ale and whatever sort of meat pie you've got. Anything local I should try?"

I had intended to follow you but rereading brass's descriptions, you may have lost me?

that was also my confusion, is i thought i follow joell, whom i thought followed ellywick



"And I'll have fish with my ale," piggybacking off of Joell order. Smoke strides past Joell, and slides next to the man called Iraun. "How are you doing this afternoon, pal?"
