{ROUND 06 TEAM CHALLENGE}

Decrypto

So we were all super excited about how we could bring this super new game to Mish Mash that isn't codenames or password but in an interesting similar place. And then as luck would have it, it turns out that CreativeMod1 decides that he needs to make his Mish Mash game modding debut, and what does he choose? Why Decrypto of course! So while it's not finished running, we can't claim to be the first to run it. Thanks a lot CM. (No but really, run more things, you're a delight)

RulesIn DECRYPTO, two teams of 3 players will each compete against one another to see who the best codemasters are. Your goal is
to transmit codes to your teammates without letting the opposing team intercept them.
Therefore, your communications should be clear enough for your team to understand, but vague enough to confound your opponents. You are also attempting to intercept your opponents’ codes.

At the start of the game, each team will be given a set of 4 numbered words (i.e. (1) Black (2) Dragonfly (3) Cocktail (4) Sombrero). This set of words will last for the whole game. Every round, a new player on your team becomes the
Encryptor
, and this role continues to rotate. At the start of the round, the Encryptor receives a numerical code of 3 digits (i.e. 1-4-3, 3-2-4, etc.). It is the Encryptor's goal to get his or her teammates to guess the sequence correctly by giving 3 clues in order, referencing the set of 4 words.

For example, if the set of words is "(1) Black (2) Dragonfly (3) Cocktail (4) Sombrero", and your code is 3-4-1, then your clues could be, in order, "beverage", "hat", and "darkness".

The game takes place over a series of rounds (usually between 4 to 6 rounds). During each round, both Encryptors will have
12 hours
to privately submit clues for their codes, then the clues will be revealed and both teams will have
12 hours
to discuss and to guess both codes by submitting private guesses. During the first round, you will not make an attempt to guess the opposing team's code, but as the game goes on, you'll be able to piece together previous clues to gain an understanding of what the opposing team's set of 4 words contains. Private discussion of guessing
is allowed
, but the Encryptor cannot participate in discussion during the round where he or she is the Encryptor.
You may not plan out clues for future rounds with your teammates.

  • At the end of the round, both teams' guesses for both codes will be revealed.
  • If your team got your own Encryptor's code correct, no penalty is received.
  • If your team got your own Encyptor's code WRONG, your team receives a
    Miscommunication Token
. Once you get two, you lose the game.
  • If your team got the opposing Encryptor's code wrong, no penalty is received.
  • If your team got the opposing Encryptor's code CORRECT, your team receives an
    Interception Token
. If you get two interceptions, you
    win
    the game.
When giving clues, you must follow these rules.
  • You can choose the form your clues take, whether that’s a single word or complete sentence.
  • Be sure to separate each of your 3 clues. There can be no confusion between what constitutes your first, second, and third clue.
  • The Clues
must refer to the meaning of the Keywords
. The Clues must never refer to the spelling (“C” to hint at “Cursed”), the number of letters (“8” or “8 letters” to hint at “Scorpion”), the position on the Screen (“musketeers” to hint atthe word in the third position), or pronunciation (“face” to make your team guess “Place”).
  • The Clues must be based on information that is
    publicly available
. You can certainly refer to obscure Croatian poets of the 17th Century—it’s risky, but allowed! However, you may NEVER refer to “private” items, like what you ate for lunch or little sweet nothings between you and your spouse.
  • Any information you give to your team as an Encryptor
must be given to the opposing team as well
    .
  • You may NEVER use the same clue more than once per game.

  • You may NEVER read out the code on the Code card or use the Keywords as clues
(or their translation in another language), not even as a clue for a different Keyword.
  • Outside sources and discussion with other humans not in your game are NOT allowed.
The game ends when a team gets two Miscommunication tokens or two Interception tokens. If two teams win the game on the same round, the team with the fewest Miscommunication tokens wins, followed by the team with the most Interception tokens. If a tie still persists, both teams will be given 12 hours to guess all 4 of the other team's keywords exactly. The team that guesses more correctly wins. If this still results in a tie, neither team is credited with a win.

6 games
of Decrypto will take place in private topics, with each team playing a game against each of the other teams. You will need to designate 3 players from your team to play in each game. All members of your team must be assigned to at least 1 game, and no player can be assigned to more than 2 games. You have
24 hours
to make your designations.

The team who wins the most games wins the challenge. In the event of a tie, the team that won the most games against the other team(s) involved in the tie wins, followed by the team who got the fewest Miscommunication tokens overall, followed by the team with the most Interception tokens overall. If a tie still persists, there will be a live tiebreaker match.

To clarify, for example, the red team will need to pick the 3 players who will go up against Blue, the 3 who will go up against Green, and the 3 who will go up against Yellow.

Is there a maximum number of rounds (e.g. 8 in the physical game)?

If no one has won at the end of 8 rounds, then we go through the normal tiebreaker procedure re: least Miscommunication/most Interception/guessing other team’s words

We'll announce the results of each game in the order of finish.

Fighting for
Fire & Brimstone
, Irrelephant11, Klick & randomidget took on
Blues Brothers/Sisters
Haschel Cedricson, Radja, and TanisNikana.

Spoiler: Who won?
Despite earning an Interception Token,
Fire & Brimstone
lost when they accumulated two Miscommunications, compared to
Blues Brothers/Sisters'
single Miscommunication.

Next, CaptainMeme, Iprobablysuck, and kdowns from
Blues Brothers/Sisters
took on CreativeMod1, StrangerCoug, and VashtaNeurotic, fighting for
Sunrise Land
.

Spoiler: Who won?
Both teams suffered one Miscommunication, and despite
Sunrise Land
's Intercept,
Blues Brothers/Sisters
outmatched them with two.

So far, that's two games won for
Blues Brothers/Sisters
.

Cheery, N, and Save The Dragons for
Ba Sing Se
competed against Shadoweh, VashtaNeurotic, and Xalxe from
Sunrise Land
.

Spoiler: Who won?
Neither team scored an Interception Token, and the game ended when
Sunrise Land
racked up back-to-back Miscommunications.

Then, fighting for
Blues Brothers/Sisters
, mallowgeno, SleepyKrew, and pantaleon took on Mina, Regfan, and TheBreeze from
Ba Sing Se
.

Spoiler: Who won?
Both teams suffered one Miscommunication, but
Ba Sing Se
won by scoring two Intercepts.

That's two games won for both
Blues Brothers/Sisters
and
Ba Sing Se
.

The next game to finish was
Fire & Brimstone
members Aurathebirb, D3f3nd3r, and racefan12 against
Sunrise Land
members CreativeMod1, Felissan, and McMenno.

Spoiler: Who won?
Neither team had a single Miscommunication, but
Fire & Brimstone
weren't able to score a single Intercept either, while
Sunrise Land
nabbed two.

Because of this,
Fire & Brimstone
and
Sunrise Land
are both locked out of winning 2 games, meaning that even if
Ba Sing Se
loses their final game, they'll be compared against
Blues Brothers/Sisters
in the tiebreaker as both have won two games.

Since Ba Sing Se defeated the Blues Brothers/Sisters in their matchup,
Ba Sing Se
wins the challenge!

Finally, it was Errantparabola, implosion, and zoraster for
Fire & Brimstone
facing Cephrir, Save The Dragons, and TheWayItEnds for
Ba Sing Se
.

Spoiler: Who won?
It's still going! No team has scored an Interception, and there's only one Miscommunication due to a missed deadline from Fire
& Brimstone.

Everyone that isn't from Ba Sing Se, it's time for an elimination challenge.
