{7-PLAYER ELIMINATION}


Diamant


So I know this challenge has shown up in a few LSGs, but I can't remember which ones other than Reality Show X, so pretend I gave you the glorious history of this game and how it's a great game people like playing instead of whatever this actually is. Losing Zetaboards makes it really hard to find all of our past site history, somebody should comple it so we never have to search through things again. Maybe that somebody should be me, hm. Anyways, enjoy being adventurers trying to find gems and other shiny shit. Have fun!


RulesSince you all loved Big Brother bots, we're having another game of robot building. In this game, your bots are digging through a mine trying to find as many gems as possible. Rubies are worth 1 point each, and Diamonds are worth 5 points. The robot who has the least points will be eliminated from the team.

The game takes place in 5 rounds, with the deck being reshuffled before each round. The deck contains the following cards:
  • 15 Treasure Cards of various Ruby quantities (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 9, 11, 11, 13, 14, 15, 17)
  • 15 Trap Cards (5 trap types, 3 of each)
  • 5 Relic Cards
Round Overview


1) Advance into the cave.


Flip the top Expedition card of the deck and put it in the middle of the table face-up.

Treasure card:
take as many Precious Stones from the reserve as there are Rubies on the card. Share these Rubies equally with all players still in the cave, leaving the remaining Rubies on the Treasure card.

Rubies that you gather during the Expedition are vulnerable and can be lost. It’s only when you return prudently (or shamefully) to camp that you can put your Precious Stones safely in your bank.

Trap card:
If a type of trap appears for the first time since you entered the cave, nothing happens and the expedition continues. However, if the same trap is revealed a second time, all players in the cave immediately return to camp empty-handed. One of the two identical Trap cards is removed from the game, and the other is put back in the Expedition card deck.
The round ends immediately.


Relic card:
The Relic card stays on the cave path and nothing happens. Go directly to the “Players’ Decision” Phase. The card isn’t worth any points until a player leaves the cave with the card in their possession.

2) Players' Decision


Before a new Expedition card is revealed, each player still in the cave must decide to continue the expedition and delve deeper into the cave, or to return to camp to put their Precious Stones safely in their bank.

Everyone secretly makes their decision at the same time, and all decisions are revealed at once.

If you chose to continue on, you remain in the cave.

If you chose to exit, you return to camp and proceed as follows:
  • On the path out of the cave, gather all Rubies that were left on Treasure Cards. If multiple players are leaving at the same time, they equally share all remaining Rubies. If there are any Rubies left after this, leave them in the cave on any Treasure card.
  • If multiple players are leaving at the same time, no one takes the Relic cards. However, if only one player leaves, they take all Relics in the cave, which give them Diamonds as follows:
  • The first 3 Relics to be taken by a player are worth 5 Rubies (1 Diamond) each,

  • The following Relics are worth 10 Rubies (2 Diamonds) each.

  • Relics taken out of the cave by a player are removed from the deck.
  • Bank all gems and relics collected that round; they are added to your final score and cannot be lost.
After that, a new Expedition card is drawn.

End of the Round


The round ends either when all players have elected to return to camp, or when two of the same trap have been drawn from the deck. At the end of a round, any remaining rubies left on the board are discarded. All relics remaining in the cave are removed from the deck, and don't count toward the increase in value of the relics. If a trap card ended the game, that single card is permanently removed from the deck.

At the end of the fifth round, the player with the lowest score is declared the loser, with ties broken by the person with the lower score at the end of round 4 losing, at the end of round 3, etc.

Designing Your Bots


You must keep the following rules in mind when designing your bots.
  • Discussion of the challenge with other players is prohibited.

  • The only real decision-making process the bot needs to have is to decide when it leaves the cave. It's your job to decide what factors make your bot choose to stay or go.
  • Your bot always knows exactly what cards have been drawn and what cards remain in the deck.
  • Your bot always knows what round it is, how many points each of the other players have banked, and how many gems everyone still in the cave is holding.
  • Your bot always knows who leaves the cave each turn (but not until after their decision is made) and who is in the cave with each new card that is drawn.
  • Your bot
    does know the which player created which bots.

  • If at any point your design leaves a decision ambiguous, the bot will
    always choose to stay in the cave.

You have
48 hours
to design your bots.
