Some time ago I tried sending a daystart message to all players in my mini theme as well as my backup mod. However, an error was reported, I don't remember what is was anymore, but I assumed it was because I was sending it to too many people. I removed my backup mod from the send list and it sent fine, which had me assuming PMs can be sent to 13 people at a time at most.

However, I just received a PM that was sent to more than 13 people. Is there actually a PM send limit? What problem could I have actually encountered?

There IS, but it depends on the usergroups you're a part of. Mini mods can send to less than large mods, though I don't know the exact number.

Pretty sure even for minis, tho, it's more than 13, so that was probably some random glitch unrelated to the limit.

Various usergroups, including the game moderator groups you're placed in so you can start a game, have different max pm recipients.

are the exact numbers on file somewhere?
FYI I think I was able to send to everyone necessary for the worst idea mafia (13 slots, plus some hydra heads) the day 1 start in one go

Here are some I found

Registered Users (i.e. no other group): 13
Game Moderator Access: 50
Large Theme Listmods: 60
Discussion Moderators: 50
Mafia Listmods: 50

Just discovered this rather old topic. Is it possible for the Registered Users limit to be increased to maybe 14 or 15? I recently ran into the same issue OP describes, when trying to PM all players in a 13-player mini along with my backup moderator. I think a small increase would allow for legitimate use cases like this without creating any significant potential for abuse.

I ran into this problem recently as well. I would honestly suggest 20 to also account for hydras. You might want to pm the hydra's mains as well.

I mean if you have the right moderator perms you should have 50 people available

The two mod groups that didn't have custom numbers were Mini Theme and Normals, which have been set to 20 and 30 respectively now.
