I disagree. I’m NAI at best. If anything, I think I’m townie than most people. People just like to scum read the guy who self analyzes and controls the game flow early before actual reads are set in.

I’m the loudest player, but by no means am I actually the scummiest. Look further into it than surface level.

I disagree. I feel I’ve actually been incredibly transparent on all my thoughts this game.

It’s incredibly early. Why should I have any strong reads? I start off with everyone being a slight town read, then go from there. I don’t look at single actions for reads, I like to piece multiple things together. I have my thoughts on Vedith earlier and the potential of him buddying.

To me, it just seems like you’re posting in a way that people who look st things from a mechanical level rather than a social or personable level look at and enjoy, which to me comes across as lazy town play or safe scum play.

Your last paragraph says I'm either town or scum, dont post useless things.

I dont know you well enough to answer that. I dont see a single town benefit to claiming one of those two roles. If you're Miller, youre screwing a role cop who could get an inno, if you're ascetic you're stopping a bad role from targeting you to confirm that. If you're neither, you've guaranteed you get lynched in the game for no good reason.

No I'd just like to get the bare minimum insight necessary for every player here to be able to somehow process them- like for example who is this RC fellow that has an entire meme copypasta dedicated to him, how does he play scum, and what do other people here have to say about his townplay?

RC is a player who used to be very good at town and scum, and then wasn't as good at town but was still good as scum. Also, very combative, and this has led to him rage quitting and/or being banned multiple times.

Boon is a player who lies a lot as town. Also can be very combative, have not seen him quit or be banned personally but have a lot less experience with him. He, like RC, is better as scum.

Creature is terrible at scum and generally lurks out, you can generally read him by post count and motivation (is he enjoying the game? probably not scum. is he lurking a lot? probably not town. etc) Not a good look for him so far, but he's going to be an easy read so there's no point voting there now. The game has only been open under a day, after all. His reads are hit or miss but are generally pretty good, so support him if he's town telling as he lacks any charisma and people generally just ignore his above average reads.

I know CoA is a pretty good player, and I've heard the names Vedith / Shoshin, but that's it as far as my knowledge of this playerlist.


As for voting: they're being dumb. Voting is how the game progresses, and if you're a VT it is literally your only power. You know how in elections people always say "your vote is your voice" and yell at young adults for not using their right to vote? Its the same concept. This is more theory talk at this point and I'm going to drop it after this post, but seriously, I have extreme distaste for townies who don't play fast and loose with their vote early on. Not as much theory talk: scum are more likely to sit on vanity wagons, and scum are more likely to be static with their vote.

I town read your entrance, and your posts after have felt genuine. Don't sweat about how experienced we all are.

Theory: No. Sorry. Static and non-voters are how people blend in. Every time you vote someone, it gets their attention if nobody else. Fluid voting is harder for scum to fake and town indicative for a few reasons, including blending in as you say. Voting progresses the game and makes impressions.
Practical: RC is one of the most aggressive players around. In neither of his alignments is blending in how he goes. Vote fluidity is not something he struggles with and is not townie for him, but its not scummy either, and if the basis for your vote is him trying to blend in then you need to find a new vote.

These are all pretty bad. Especially the second one is such a flimsy question to ask someone. I don't feel like there's a real depth of thought here, which actually does make me hesitate on calling it scumposting. The only reason I can see up to this point for scumreading Vedith is the "I was scared of getting a vote on me". The RCEnigma scumread for not voting seems similarly level 0. It's just... none of those things are scummy, and this account pings alt a lot harder than it pings "newbie who scumreads the most basic things".

These are all pretty bad. Especially the second one is such a flimsy question to ask someone. I don't feel like there's a real depth of thought here, which actually does make me hesitate on calling it scumposting. The only reason I can see up to this point for scumreading Vedith is the "I was scared of getting a vote on me". The RCEnigma scumread for not voting seems similarly level 0. It's just... none of those things are scummy, and this account pings alt a lot harder than it pings "newbie who scumreads the most basic things".

Not voting in your RVS posts points towards scum. That is not something that is relevant in a lylo decision, but for RVS when I'm trying to create content it is enough to prod on. I did my job and got the game out of RVS very quickly.

Its a fact, yes. Another one is that scum are more likely to sit on vanity wagons, and scum are more likely to vote statically and end their day not voting. This obviously is just a wide tell that won't apply to everyone, but its something to start the game off with. Catch up, I dropped the Vedith point when I looked through his games and the RCE one when he linked examples of him not voting as town and voting as scum.

That last game he lurked / skated through – although I intended to push him multiple times throughout the game, townies doing outrageous things consistently prevented him from ever truly being scrutinized. I don't intend to let the same thing happen again when he's playing fairly similarly and fairly scummy.

This catchup was not good, if that hasn't been clear from my mobileposting since.

in particular, I town read Boat, Vork, Tarkus, Vedith, Creature at about this order. Leaning scum on Morality Shoshin RCE.

So to follow up, Vedith and Tarkus are both reads I would like expanded on now please. Your catchup was pretty barebones. And you said Shoshin and RCE are S/S and Morality is independant; does that mean you don't care about Morality's only real push being Shoshin? None of your PoE is in my townreads which is a good thing except RCE, but you believe Creature is town and I think RCE is independently scummy and just not partnered with Creature so that's fine.

Sure. I played a game with creature where he didn't post much either but ended as town, so his activity is now less alignment indicative.

Plus I think scum is a little image-conscious, and wouldn't blatantly claim-scum. And even if they do, they wouldn't go back and scumhunt by rereading the game and talk to themselves for a whole page. Granted it's not excellent hunting and mostly reaction-ing, that's why its also not a uber strong town read, but a town read nonetheless

If you look though, Creature's posts weren't much of anything. It wasn't rereading, it was claiming to read, and with how little he commented on I doubt he actually did read it all (which makes sense because he lolcatted before that). He spent 2 or 3 posts fosing me, and then said I was probtown with another. Its just not a good catchup imo. I'm sure if Creature is town he will make it evident in the next 4 or 5 irl days, but I really don't think he is aorn.

The issue isn't this game, the issue has never been this game. The issue is that every single fucking game that I play has people pulling this shit. I don't get away from it.
Stepping in dog shit once is whatever, when you end up with dog shit on your foot every time that you walk home from work it starts to become a problem. This is that problem. This is a pattern that needs to end.

Play on alts a lot like I do then. You probably know who I am, and I have a very high record as both alignments so I change alts a lot to mitigate that. I know you don't really think I'm a great player but I and most do, and some people fear lynch my main which is why this happens. I also havent played mafia much for the past 2 years, or at all in a while, so theres yhat. Theres ways around a reputation if that's what you want. If you choose to play on your main, you're a respected scum player and very aggressive, and this is a side effect of that. I dont have sympathy. I dont know what RC meand by trying to appear town so no comment there. I am a Psych graduate student, and I look at motivations when I'm dcumhunting. AtE is about getting triggered, and the source of the trigger was most likely RC's ego being upset his town game is being called into question. I just don't see much of a scum motivation for RC to get upset there, and outright fake ate is possible but RC was/is at 0 votes so I dont see a scum motivation for faking it altogether. I'm mobile posting so this isnt as coherent as I would like.

i meta'd shoshin's normals briefly, and her play is pretty curt compared to previous (both scum and town), which might indicate a lack of time these days. I didn't find anything particularly salient, other than town-shoshin is more likely to follow up with unanswered q's (sample size 2), and scum-shoshin is more interested in trivialities (sample size 1). Given this, I think I more scum lean shoshin this game due to meta?

Radiant should be nicer about that too though. I have seen much worse ICs than Aura is playing, depending how flips go of course. At least hes actually following along and not apathetic due to the shit role IC is.

Roomy actually had multiple votes on him when he replaced out, not just mine. I also was anything but absent. At least from scum's perspective.

And other than that DDL's play is fine, his reads are close to mine which is town indicative ime, and Roomy was null/very slight town for me too outside of the rep out.

I use the term "mechanical" when describing analysis that follows a rigid rule-based approach to scumhunting. Example of rule-based scumhunting: "if a player doesn't answer a question, it's like to be scum; X didn't answer a question; therefore, X is scum." Your approach obviously isn't this rigid but it follows this basic approach. Personally, I don't think it's an effective approach but to each their own.

I did that earlier because my goal in RVS is to create activity, and there is very little early game to go off of. Yes, they aren't greatly consistent, but its about statistics; if scum is more likely to not vote in RVS, even if its only 1% more likely, then that is a better place to vote. Do you get what I mean? I don't think my play past the first 10-20 pages has been like that at all, do you disagree? And I do believe scum are more likely to dodge questions.

I led the wagon on roomy so I took credit for its impact on him replacing out. As for my play feeling underwhelming, your feeling is subjective and based on a very mechanical way of reading my behaviors. I think what I'm doing has had a lot more impact that most players realize.

I don't think it's necessary to post every single thought, agreement, or disagreement that I have. In this case, I made a judgment call that agreeing wtih you or RC wouldn't contribute anything of value to the game, since I don't think it's a strong basis for scumreading Roomy's slot.

But people said I was wrong for calling the replace out scummy, and pushing me for that. Is it not necessary to defend a viewpoint you agree with? I get not voicing every microagreement, but when its an active argument I feel its important to get involved.

Do you agree Creature's town? You didn't answer that one I don't think.

You seem to hold a set of rigid beliefs about what scum are likely to do, and then you apply those beliefs as if they were rules. That's mechanical play, or at least what I call mechanical play. And to be clear, my example of the question-asking was actually just one example among many. For examle, you did it to Morality in a different way (if a player lies it's scum; Morality lied; therefore Morality is scum) while admitting that Morality tends to lie as town. Like, that's how you play. Maybe you lack the self-awareness to realize this about your play, but it's definititely what you do.

I don't know your alignment. I think mechanical analysis tends to come from scum because it's such an easy way to push mislynches on players while ignoring relevant evidence. I also think the vast majority of townies aren't mechanical thinkers, so when you see someone who is, I look closely at what those players are doing. You seemed to be ignoring relevant evidence so I dunno, felt scummy.

Eh, your above post attributed it far more to playstyle than my alignment. I don't see what I'm ignoring? I dropped my Boon push when I saw it wasn't right, and I switched my Creature read when he proved me wrong.

I have Tarkus as null. He feels less scummy than his play in one of his scum games, but I need to check his town games because he's still lurking here in ways that resemble scum.

I would rather lynch Tarkus over Morality or Vedith. All 3 are fine lynches though. Shoshin is not acceptable today, nor is Creature.

Same reason that he's trying to discredit and rip apart my townblock, he needs more mislynches. And the IC is a weak player who is just going to eat it up hook line and sinker because they don't realize that trying to seem towny != town.

The IC is fine, he's engaging in discussion and remaining involved in the game. and if you assume Morality is scum, that makes sense. Shoshin is also not an unreasonable push for town to make though, you yourself had him lower in reads when Boon did, as did Creature who is likely another town. So I don't think that Shoshin town necessitates Morality scum at all (nor do I think Shoshin is definitely town).
