I know it's early but I really don't like this post.

If I was scum there would be 3 roles I want. King, inventor, and neighbor. I wouldn't even think about asking for King because that's blatantly scummy. But neighbor can be presented as fun and inventor as a cool gimmick. The disinterested tone isn't great either.

I was in the shower right now and realized the first thought I had when entering this game is how and which PRs I want to distribute in the town rather than which PR I want to take for myself therefore I scumread anyone asking for a specific role for himself and townread everyone who suggested a PR onto someone else

Even though I like this post, scum will also be thinking along the lines of who they want to assign what role to, to optimize their odds of high impact lynches and nks.

I agree with this as scum could maneuver a powerful PR onto their planned NK and take care of 2 problems.

Riruka-san was telling me that people were reading my first post as scummy. Well, I think the way I want to go about this at least for myself is give me a role that I find fun with and then give the stronger powers to lynchbait/people on the weaker side. I think giving townreads not as strong powers at least early would make nightkills extremely telling if someone killed say a macho/inactive towny over someone with the inventor etc. I think it's a good way to force information out.
For example, I know for a fact we'll probably not get King as I want, but we should probably give it to once again, a lynchbait player and see if we can agree on someone for them to king the day before or after and see if mafia let them live or not.

Here's a new strategy: Let's all in to games we know we won't play. Like, if you're on a holiday. or if you have exams, or you have a new job.. you're wedding is within a week.. etc.

You're an aussie but many people here treat American Independence day as a one shot, 1 day, 24 hour holiday. My parents planned dinner and a movie. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to /in for a game knowing you'll have a 1 day absence coming up.

If apthet is going to take Friday off from work and combine the weekend into a 5 day vacation I'm definitely with you, though, I missed Pokémon Ruby Mafia because I knew I had a 1 week vacation coming up.

Given that the possibility of our slot being scum has been the single largest discussion of the game so far and I don't want to play an entire game of that, I'd rather not try to create incentives for scum not to remove us from the game so let's just give us the IC, kill Momo for having a terrible scumread on me, and make MariaR hydra the universal backup because I scumread the shit out of both heads and would like to find a resolution to that issue that doesn't involve having to push a lynch on them.

I agree with this post quite a lot. Btw the reason I'm okay with momo dying isn't just reads but the way it seems they're trying to command the game, they seem to be wanting a leader position without outright calling themselves a leader. The execution of the scumteam guess feeds into this feeling.

While it has happened on occasion that town have behaved this way towards my slots, even if significantly less frequently than scum doing it, I think that the high odds of a scum flip + the benefits of

discouraging that play by policy lynching it

by far outweigh not lynching him on the off chance that he's not scum. It's just a good lynch in general, discouraging play I don't like is icing on the cake.

Baezu's silence, the connections in between my other scum reads and him. Especially paired with his normal activity, both in games and around sites. It would be a really smart move for scum RC to declare that he's going to lurk day one.

Of my 3 SRs, I would probs lynch RC last. However, if any one of those two flip scum, the ties to RC become much stronger.

Either way, RC is very hard to read. The best use of the

role, imo, would be for someone like RC. If he is town, then great. He can help us scum hunt and the incentives to lynch a player like RC would be much lower if we make him inactive. That way town RC stays alive and helps us.

Giving RC inactive is probably the easiest decision we have to make today.

This also works out perfectly because the HH hydra is hard to read. Day 5, we get a confirmed read. Just swapping those two would make your proposal better.

I might be weird, but I want to give you one of the worst abilities. Youre already so solidly town, and putting in the good work that youll never be lynched. Make scum kill a terrible ability when they want to get rid of you.

I played One Night Ultimate Werewolf with my roommate and some friends last night and tried to explain that the rulebook says the troublemaker "may" exchange two other player's alignments, so I refused to use the ability since it's anti-town, but I was actually town troublemaker. Regardless I want the people I'm townreading right now to live until later. Strength of dayplay isn't really something I think about, the strongest townies tend to die anyways.

If my proposal doesn't pass, as new proposals are generated I want people to look at the miller and universal backup assignments that are in mine and the other one that got close to passing and reuse those. Because the idea that mafia are playing dumb about this NK strategy stuff and trying to reroll until they get a mafia miller is horrifying to me.
The mafia are even less likely (I guess I shouldn't say even less likely, enough of you seem to refuse to see this the same way as me that at least a couple have to be town) to perceive an proposal as being flawed because it has a strong optimal play of shooting a certain PR slot, because they know which slots are town and scum and can plan the hypothetical N1 kill and look at how the hypothetical N1 kill moves onto the N1 backup. It's kind of like as a beginner at chess it's a little easier to see that a move makes check if you're allowed to physically move the chess piece into that position and will be able to take it back if you don't like how it looks, versus having to imagine possible moves. So they're the ones pretending not to follow because they see it's an acceptable position because townies are taking it, but they're actually hoping for a miller reroll. Don't give it to them. You can reroll the motion detector into whatever the worst possible position is, I don't care, but a miller deepwolf scares me.

I/we know we can't give the same person 2 roles TODAY, but what if there is a role tomorrow that has a similar effect? Timid doesn't go with king and IC doesm't go with Miller.. etc. Apparently we get a new/different list of roles each day BUT there are roles that WILL appear again (one example is the Compulsive Quitter). Now what's wrong in asking and knowing in advance what how the mod planned to handle such situations just in case?

Nero has enough scum equity at this point I'm not worried about him having scum gladiator, I could just lynch him and feel like it's a good %age lynch.

I think what you misunderstand is I think he could yologlad as town and get himself lynched that way. It's not like he can only gladiate tomorrow. You have to think about what someone will do three nights from now. I have no idea how to answer your theory question. I am looking at roles and players individually, not as a "give this role to someone who meets x, y & z conditions". I said I want to give the IC to someone who is generally hard to sort, so not necessarily a good town player. In fact, seeing as IC "might" stay alive to D5 you have to consider giving it to someone "bad at scum" more than "good as town". Good town will be killed early regardless of their role IMHO. I don't want IC to be the reason why someone good as scum is given a break for 4 days.

I also suggested Nero for the Backup. If scum shoot the Gladiator then ok, but that's letting the Inventor live (for one) so that's a good trade. Or wait and see who replaces Oversoul. Or -maybe- pops. Lots of better choices there.

The main problem that I’m finding with every proposal is gladiator, neighbor, and who gets backup. Each proposal has gotten shot down one way or the other for a majority of people due to not liking who will be receiving those roles.

The difference is that proposals are slowly running out, and I want to have mine be usefull. I'm also prettttty bad when it comes to mechanics despite really trying to get my head around them this game. I don't get much further then giving towny roles to my town reads and negative roles to the scummy reads…
So make me a proposal, we discuss it, and then nobody has to worry about me being one of the last players still having one.

And if I don't 'obey' our agreed proposal, you can still lynch me on the next day. Seems like a nice safety line

Inventor (Night) We definitely want Inventor to survive, but their actions are easily held accountable the day after they happen, so a weaker townread makes the most sense there.

Day 3 King (Passive) - We definitely want King out of scum's hands.
Night 1 Universal Backup (Passive) - Universal Backup should be someone likely to eat a nightkill. Preferably the person most likely to eat a nightkill, to prevent scum from manipulating a negative onto them.
Miller (Passive) We should give this to someone who can be trusted to obvtown without the influence of PR's so that it's completely null.


This is my first instinct with the prioritizing of roles. Top of each of town and scum should be the strongest read of that variety. Is this roughly where the assignments have come from?

Whereas a sane-cop shot on nero, CT, Iconeum, GE, etc, is considerably higher accuracy than 5 game days of their dayplay.

I'd disagree in my case: I feel like my record will show in late game I very rarely get mislynched as town but I very often fall apart as scum.
