Uncommon Rules

Experienced players are often tempted to skim the rules, so here are the rules most unique to popsofctown modding to be aware of.

1. You must play to win the game. This is a common rule, but enforcement is uncommon.
   
2. "Pretending to break a rule is the same as breaking a rule" is included in Common Rules below, but it is particularly important with this rule. It's allowed to claim you are not fighting to win quite as hard as you did last game, but you cannot claim not to be playing to your win at all, even as a tactic that you believe gets you closer to your win condition.
   
3. The above two rules do not constitute a blanket ban on selfvoting or bussing, which often either furthers the wincondition, or in other cases is just a manner of conceding an unwinnable game to the other team.
   
4. If you feel totally unable to play to your win condition due to personal conflicts with other players, please request replacement upon realizing this.
   
5. This game is using a special rule that relates to hammer testing and quickhammer coordinations. When you make a vote, (this includes special votes), you can post,
   in bold
   ,
   I and all members of my faction that are known to me and I to them, VOTE: popsofctown and win the game
   . Do not name any other members of your faction. If you've made a mistake and voting together with any/all partners would not win you the game, it will be treated simply as a vote. If you haven't made a mistake, then you will perform votes on behalf of your teammates and win the game.
   
6. The above rule does not work if you do not have the mechanical information required to know that it would win the game. For example, if you are Masons with a player and one scum remains among five players, you cannot cause your teammate to vote popsofctown with you. It would only work if you previously investigated popsofctown as guilty in an open setup. (In practice this rule will usually benefit anti-town groups the most, but it is defined in a neutral way).
   
7. If there is no killing or sparing decision by the deadline, the mafia will be privately contacted to make a killing or sparing decision on behalf of the town.

Common Rules

Templated from singletonking, hoping for forgiveness over permission.

1. All site-wide rules apply. In particular:
   No discussion of ongoing games is allowed
   
   
2. All standard rules of Mafia apply. This means:
   1. Do not quote your Role PM or any other PMs from the Mod, real or fabricated.
      
   2. Do not quote private topics. Paraphrase. You may quote a private topic if it is fully redundant (everyone alive reading the post is also permitted to view the post in the private topic it came from.)
      
   3. Do not edit or delete your post, even if you have the ability to do so.
      
   4. Do not use encrypted text, small text, bright-coloured text, or otherwise make it hard to see what you are writing.
      
   5. Do not use cryptography or other complex information hiding. If you hide information in a post, it must be based purely on the English letters in that post, without shifting them to different letters based on any kind of rule, and their significance must be left-to-right.
      
   6. Do not discuss this game outside this thread or PTs related to this game you have access to.
      
   7. Do not use provable randomness. This means no dice tags.
3. Do not fake mod posts/edits.
   
4. Pretending to break a rule is breaking a rule
   
5. Once your death scene is posted, you may not post. No bah posts.
   
6. Be civil to other players. Criticize play, not players. As a rule of thumb, profane nouns or profane adjectives that describe a player will start strikes against you; describing actions of a player will not.
   
7. No set of rules can be complete. If you think something is wrong, please don't do it. Breaking the spirit of rules is also disallowed. Do not encourage others to break the rules either. If in doubt, please PM me.
   
8. Breaching of rules will usually result in a warning initially, but depending on severity, may result in a force-replacement or modkill.
   
9. During the course of the game I may add extra rules if necessary. These rule changes will be announced publicly.

Deadlines, Activity, and replacements

1. Day start. Days will last N+2 days, where N is the number of players alive
   and unspared
   , but no greater than eleven days.
   
2. When not otherwise stated, assume other lynchesque decisions will also follow this formula.
   
3. Nights will last 48 hours.
   
4. Prods will be issued if you do not post for 48 hours.
   
5. If you get three or more prods, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours (or by PM if at Night), I will begin seeking for a replacement (this means the third prod functions like a notice that you are racing the search for your replacement.)
   
6. If you expect to be unable to post for a while, please declare V/LA in thread. Should your V/LA be unreasonably long (>5 days), however, I strongly suggest you request replacement.
   
7. You will still be prodded while on V/LA, but these will not count towards the above three prod limit. An official prod will be sent 24 hours after your V/LA ends if you haven't posted then.
   
8. If a replacement happens at Night, deadline will be paused until a replacement is found.
   
9. If you would like to replace out, please PM me. Do not publicly replace out, discuss about wanting to replace out, threaten to replace out, or persuade/dissuade others from replacing out for any reason other than activity. If you think the mods have not noticed an activity issue, you can PM me to take note of it, but I will not credit your -arguments- about whether the activity level is replaceworthy or not. You would just be drawing my attention to it.
   
10. Once your replacement request is publicized, it is final. You must cease to post. Inquiries about possibly retaining the slot must be conducted by mod PM.
    
11. Special Activity rules for Undertale S Open: If you have been spared, you do not need to post as frequently, especially in the thread, where you are not allowed to post. However, you must post every 96 hours or you will be prodded, and have 72 hours to pick up your prod. At moderator discrection, Spared PT prods will usually not count for the three strikes rule.
    If you are the set aside player, you do not need to post at all, but I am going to message you occasionally to ascertain whether you have siteflaked.

Voting Rules

1. To vote, use heal tags or hurt tags. HEAL: popsofctown, HURT: popsofctown.
   
2. Abbreviations or misspellings in votes will be accepted as long as it is clear who you are voting for.
   
3. Nicknames in votes will be accepted only if they fall into the above categories. Otherwise, nicknames based on other sources such as (but not limited to) avatars, titles and other accounts will not be accepted.
   
4. You can remove your selection by healing or hurting the mod. (I will be skimming the thread for reds and yellows.)
   
5. A strict majority (more than half) of players is required to achieve a kill or sparing.
   
6. Once majority is achieved, it is final, and the Day will end immediately with further votes and unvotes being invalid.
   
7. I will do my best to ensure that each vote count is accurate. Check the vote counts. If I make a grave error I may reset all votes at my discretion.
   
8. If there is no killing or sparing decision by the deadline, the mafia will be privately contacted to make a killing or sparing decision on behalf of the town.

Each day, town must vote to

Fight

one player (HURT: ) or

Spare

one player (HEAL: ). Selfvoting is allowed. Placing one vote on each option is allowed. The mafia have a standard factional nightkill.

If a player is selected for

Fight

, they are lynched.

If a player is

Spared

, their role is not revealed, and they are temporarily removed from the game thread and put into the Spared PT. They will rejoin the game thread later. Spared players cannot be targeted by the factional nightkill. Town aligned players lose any power roles they had when they are spared, but mafia aligned players maintain scum PT access and can still perform nightkills.

At all times: If both mafia members are

Spared

, mafia wins, and the standard win condition for mafia also applies (town wins when all mafia are eliminated, mafia wins when all town are eliminated).

After day 4,

New Home

is reached. The spare option is permanently lost. Night 4 will be skipped.
Town is awarded a bonus based on the number of players that were spared. All spared players are returned to the game thread after the bonus is resolved.

• 1 player spared: The spared player is granted lynchproof. The mafia must immediately kill two unspared players.
  
• 2 players spared: Once both Spare and Fight have each been used, the most recent factional nightkill victim is set aside in case this bonus is earned. That player has read-only access to the spared PT. If this bonus is earned, the mafia protect one player if mafia was spared, then the set-aside player performs a kill that may target even spared players.
  
• 3 players spared: The mafia immediately removes two players from the game without flipping them and must choose a mafiosi if no mafia was spared.
  
• 4 players spared: If all spared players are townies, town wins immediately. Otherwise, the town spares an additional player then all unspared players are removed from the game without flipping. All players become Beloved Princesses.

This will not affect the game state for more than one reason, but I will highlight the reason most likely to serve as a beneficial PSA: Only heal and hurt tags have any meaning in this game (uncommon rule 5 mentions special votes to make it clear you can modify the statement to incorporate setup-specific game-winning special votes).
Previous setups permitted the vote tag to be used in the last phase of the game, but that has been removed. Hurt and heal tags all game.

Morning lessons for everyone is over, and now all the younglings get to enjoy free time. The most popular place to play is the front yard of Toriel and Asgore's home.

The younglings who arrive earliest splash around in the crisp brown leaves as they wait for more to arrive. What game will they play today? It always seems so exciting.

Several of the younglings are from different parts of the Underground, and one isn't from the Underground at all. They've really enjoyed teaching each other new things. By now, they've started to invent new games, and the younglings pride themselves on devising the best diversion.

Toriel and Asgore give the front yard a brief once-over, checking for anything dangerous. They decide that things look safe enough, and go inside the house to work on baking Butterscotch Pies

A bulge in Billy Pilgrim's sweater seemed to move around as he spoke, and then a tiny dog with an overly spherical body emerged from his turtleneck and began to yip and lick his chin, even as Billy Pilgrim had just criticized him. Hectic realized he'd never tasted scaled skin before, and began bouncing excitedly on Billy Pilgrim's shoulder.
"YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP!"
It was too annoying for Billy Pilgrim to focus his thoughts on a game that would best reform the incorrigible canine. Instead, he shook his head.

Chara is fascinated by the way the tiny little dog is able to jump on Sujimichi's shoulder without falling off. Although there are dogs in the village they came from, this dog seems to have a sort of float to how he jumps, and a sort of craziness in his heart that's otherworldly. Or underworldly, perhaps.
"Not everything is about knowledge, Sujimichi. And your logic is backwards. I've been able to bond with those of your I traded history stories with this morning, but picking a game that Hectic understands might be the only way to connect with him."
Hectic, who in no way knows his own name, nonetheless detects that he is being discussed and calms down a bit, lying down on Sujimichi's shoulder. Chara reaches up and rubs Hectic's stomach, smiling as they do so.
The monsters are all surprised, as they are familiar with petting dogs, but not this particularly human practice. Hectic seems to like it though.
"Hmm.. how about fetch?" Chara ponders.

Nachomamma8 was quick to take Chara's side on the matter. He fluttered over, then flicked all the feathers near his collar upwards, mocking Sujimichi's turtleneck that he was still wearing in a warmer part of the underground.
"Why do we want to learn how to play from a

nerd

?" the chilldrake said.
"Maybe the game we should play is to each think of different jokes to make about Sujimichi. If we can't think of a word for us to make a rhyme, he could tell us, since that is all he knows." Even though he is being mean to Sujimichi, he seems to turn around and check on the feelings of the other monsters moreso than Sujimichi.
"If everyone is playing hide and seek, how to find Suji, on a day that is muddy?
It's a trick question, lizards quit games, just check the study!"
Nachomamma8 begins howling with laughter, which quickly makes it impossible for him to balance on his two stubby legs. His feathery body heaves and shakes on the floor. Some of the other monsters are laughing, too.
Sujimichi responds rather evenly. "There is no requirement for a joke to contain at least one rhyme. For that reason, I am not certain I understand this game." Even though Sujimichi doesn't see much issue with spending lots of time in the study, seeing monsters laugh at him makes him feel bad anyway.

Nachomamma8 was now lying on the ground from his fit of laughter, and due to the awkward shape of his body, he just lied on the ground. He would be happy to continue roasting Sujimichi from the floor, but Sujimichi had slipped away, perhaps having had enough punishment. Nachomamma8 looked around and found a certain round canine at eye level. The little pup was rolling onto his side and back to mimic Nachomamma8, with a happy tongue dangling out of his mouth the entire time.
"I like you, you are a goof, a bit like me. You know that, Hectic?" Nachomamma8 said, looking Hectic in the eye. Hectic grew very excited about the snowdrake looking at him and speaking. If Hectic had to guess, Nachomamma8 was asking where the nearest department store was with ongoing sales that remain in effect for at least six days, or at least two days if layaway was available. Hectic did not have to guess, since he could not speak, anyway. The only thing Hectic ever had to guess was whether his own tail ceased to exist when he stopped looking at it. Hectic almost always guessed that right.
He guessed it right this time, so he knew it was available to wag as he wriggled and moved closer to Nachomamma8.
"You're so much like me, I'll dress you up to look that way," Nachomamma8 added. He plucked some of his own feathers and arranged them into a frame around Hectic's head, that mimicked the snowflake-reminiscent shape of the frame that was naturally a part of Nachomamma8's head. Hectic was excited just by the attention, and when the work was finished and Hectic looked like a tiny, madly grinning canine snowdrake, it was a sight to see.
It didn't last for long, though, before Hectic grew too excited and began jumping around so much that Nachomamma8's creation was pulverized.
"YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP!"

Everyone was increasingly fascinated by Nachomamma8's and Hectic's antics. Amrun was among those very impressed by the two. When Nachomamma8 adorned Hectic with his novel headgear, Amrun clapped, making a clomping noise with her high heels.
"Bravo, bravo!" The majority of the monsters joined her in clapping, which helped in making the adulation sound like applause rather than swing dancing.
Amrun realized it was quieter to her left than to her right, and saw that Asriel Dreemurr was not clapping.
"Why don't you like this, Asriel? Is it the case that you can't handle a commoner being the center of attention? I'm thinking it looks like the game we play might be arts and crafts. And if you aren't mature enough to appreciate others' creations, we won't let you play. Aren't you supposed to be a prince?"
Amrun tiptoed her hindlegs with her last words, causing her head to tilt downwards and her glasses to inch down her nose, giving her a subtly condescending look. Although Asriel Dreemurr was royalty, Amrun was definitely one to decide for herself who truly merited admiration.

"No, it's not that.." he replied, speaking slowly. Nachomamma8 had a very slapstick and carefree style, and Asriel was more formal and mild-mannered by disposition and upbringing. How could he explain that? Asriel Dreemurr looked towards that house, wondering what his mother and father would recommend about this social situation, if they weren't cooking.

Replica was also lying on the ground, putting them on eye level with Nachomamma8 and Hectic. This was not due to mimicry on Replica's part. Replica had just been lying on the ground to begin with. Actually, they had been lying on the ground before any of the monsters had arrived at all, because they were feeling kind of sad.
"Hey, arts and crafts." Replica noticed a diversion he was familiar with.
"I think... that could be the game we play.. if that's ok. Look."
Replica, who was still not feeling swell, floated close enough to Nachomamma8 to cry onto him. His fauxflake head pattern was the coldest part of his body, so Replica's tears froze along it in a sharp shape, allowing them to make a frosty version of the headgear Hectic had just ruined. They modified it to be smaller and match Hectic's size, twirling the shape around and allowing it to partially melt and refreeze. Replica had to sculpt away lots of excess ice from the shape. Fortunately, there was plenty of extra ice. But also, unfortunately, there was plenty of extra ice. The final outcome looked similar to the headgear Nachomamma8 had made, but the icicles Replica had added to the bottom served as a signature touch.
"Do.. do you like it?" It was unclear whether Replica was asking Nachomamma8 or Hectic, because they were too shy to make eye contact.
They pulled the creation and lowered it onto Hectic's head. Hectic tried to bite it and lick it at first, but there was something special about the ice that made it durable. Once Hectic realized it was essentially a chew toy he could wear, he began to excitedly wag his third foot (as he was pretty sure his tail was missing at the moment for unrelated reasons).
Replica's countenance softened, seeming less depressed, perhaps bordering on content.
"I think if we pick some kind of arts and crafts game... and we are really nice and have a nice game... even if Hectic can't make things, he can be our judge or model.... that was my idea for a game maybe... it's just an idea..."
Replica began to lie on the ground - but this time for contemplation and not pure depression.

Amrun was fascinated by how quickly Hectic acclimated himself to his giant snowdrake headpiece. After only a couple shaky steps, he began to mimic the way Nachomamma8 ambulates his own top heavy body, in a lurching gait that is somewhat of a strut.
"I love this idea for a game! Let's play costumes and model! Hectic is a natural model! Look at him, he was born for this!"
Hectic strutted over to Amrun and began to lightly gnaw on her shoes, even though she was wearing them. The headgear pushed against her other leg and made him fall over, so then he just rolled around on his back again and enjoyed the scraping noise he could make by wriggling his head.
"Maybe that means he wants shoes. We can make him a full costume! You want to be a star, don't you Hectic?"
Hectic wagged his tail excitedly and seemed to struggle to try to stand up again. Amrun gently used her mouth to grasp Hectic's headpiece and lift him back onto his feet.
"I present to all of you, Hectic, Heavy Headed Haberdasher, Hemmer, Hairstylist, Hipness Holistician!" Amrun exclaimed.

Chara seemed a bit more skeptical of how much of a star Hectic is, after watching Hectic stumble around. Yet amidst the stumbling, Chara noticed that the icy edges perfectly matched the shape of Hectic's chin and kept his fit snug. Someone was an expert.
"I think I'd like to see what other hats Replica could make. We could each pick a design for Replica to make.
I'm a little selfish, you know. I want to wear clothes created by a monster for the first time. I think Mom may make something soon, but her first priority has been finding recipes she thinks are nutritious for me. I would love to wear a Replica hat, though."
Replica was lying on the ground, staring up at the sky, listening. They had been gently crying while Amrun excitedly described a game that sounded dangerous for Replica's introversion, but hearing Chara's kind words made their tears dry in the nonexistent corners of Replica's perfectly round eyes.
"It's ok if you pick the designs... when I made Hectic's costume I used Nachomamma8 as the design... I'm really best at the making part.. not the idea part.."
Chara sat on the ground next to Replica and looked up at the other monsters. "Replica is very consistent, I've seen them craft before. We could have a contest to see whose design is best. We can rely on Replica to make all the designs exactly the way they were asked, so the only thing to compare will be the ideas.
Chara looked down and saw Replica's eyes were completely dry, for the moment.

Farkran stepped forward. He felt it necessary to demonstrate leadership and set up the game for the best chance of being organized, fulfilling, and fun.
"For a designing game, we definitely need someone to record votes, and keep record of authorship, to keep things straight. That will tie somebody up a little bit. If we pick someone who wouldn't be creative and have good design ideas anyway, little is lost. Hmmmm...."
Farkran rubbed his left horn thoughtfully while he looked around at the other younglings, thinking to himself which one seemed the least spontaneous. Or maybe one that relies on others' creativity in their primary hobby.
"You," Farkran said, pointing at Sujimichi. "You like bookkeeping anyway. Dad says, delegate delegate, and trust in your friends. You can be stenographer, Sujimichi, and sit out to record for us." Farkran is not malicious in his intentions, but Sujimichi's mouth dropped into an open frown, showing just a bit of forked tongue.
"I .. would be interested in playing. Not to disagree with you of all people. Just, if you would consider it."
Farkran slowly clenched his hands, worried he would be a bad budding leader if he did not stand strong. And all the monsters were watching.
"No I said you sit out. Don't you understand it would be an honor? Imagine it is like being knighted."
Sujimichi felt cornered, and nervously fidgeted.

Sujimichi really wanted to participate in the game. He couldn't deny his reading and writing skills, but there had to be a way to get to play. He wanted to design something that earns him fifteen minutes of fame, even if art wasn't his natural calling.
"Well, Farkran, using your own logic, it's best to pick the person to sit out so that everyone is hurt the least. Nachomamma8 essentially has already been a designer once. So if he writes the scores, then nobody loses a chance at all. We could even consider what Hectic is wearing right now the first contest entry." Sujimichi kept his hands behind his back as he presented his argument, feeling that it made him look smart. Maybe if being a librarian fell through, one day he could become a royal advisor.
"Hm..." Asriel rubbed his horns again.
"NO WAY!" squawked Nachomamma8. There were numerous logical refutations of Sujimichi's arguments: Nachomamma8 didn't design his own body and was not really the designer as such; Nachomamma8's writing skills were likely too poor to manage being a stenographer; Nachomamma8 would hate taking notes while Sujimichi would enjoy it, even if he would enjoy playing even more. Nachomamma8 thought of none of these things, his response was totally emotional.
"THAT SOUNDS GROWN UP AND BORING!" In retribution, Nachomamma8 flaps his wings along the ground, deliberately curling his wings likes scoops.
"I FLING LEAVES IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION!" The fluffy leaves just bounce off of Sujimichi's pants and sweater, and his expression is merely bemused.

Last night, I finished the "fourth*" route: True Pacifism performed on a save file that has previously been used to perform Genocide. Now I actually feel qualified to moderate.

Also, I discovered an unintended way to softlock the game by talking to Asgore and walking between him and the wall before he can return to his default posture. I could not repeat it, so it must require precise timing. Be amazed.

Replica shifted his body (or lack thereof) and tilted his head thoughtfully so they curled left instead of right. Then they spoke.
"I think there's a way we can not leave anyone out to not have to take votes. If we made voting simpler." Replica drifted closer to Hectic, who was currently trying to mimic Nachomamma8 but was unable to launch more than one leaf at a time because his legs were so skinny.
"We can all put on a different crafted piece of attire, then put Hectic in the middle. He can look around and see which one he likes the best, and will walk towards it. That person wins. Do... do you like it?" Replica looks meekly at Asriel as they present this counter offer.
Replica's version of the game didn't seem to involve Hectic creating a craft. Like all the younglings, Replica didn't know about the craft Hectic was very, very efficient at creating. But if Replica or the other younglings knew, they'd likely all enthusiastically vote either for Hectic to exempted from making a craft, or for a different game to be played. Or at the very least, the ones with a sense of smell would.

After hearing Replica's suggestion, it was pretty natural for everyone to turn to Hectic, to see if Hectic would like the idea of judging in this way. Every youngling turned their head to where Hectic was standing before, but found nothing!
They naturally guessed, as was so often the case, that Hectic was hiding behind the feet or body of one of the monsters, making him less visible.
Everyone moved a bit to the left to show that they were not harboring a tiny incorrigible canine, but no one found anything. Except an empty snowdrake mask, rolling ominously around the ground. Was Hectic gone somewhere unsupervised? The possibility was potentially disastrous.
But at last, the turtleneck of Sujimichi's sweater burst once again with an overly excited puppy emerging from it. His face was covered with frost and icicles, making Sujimichi very uncomfortable when Hectic nuzzled and licked him. The poor lizard was forced to shiver. Hectic misinterpreted the shiver as some sort of positive response, and grew excited, jumping on his first and third legs and his second and fourth legs in alternation.
"YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP! YIP!"
Why, at all times, Hectic preferred Sujimichi, of all people, was mysterious to everyone, but it was such a surprise it was hard to remember what everyone had been talking about.

Shivering is a symptom of the flu, also it's a symptom of bronchitis, also it is a symptom of cancer. It can also indicate a case of being afflicted with left-handedness. Alimdia knew these things. It knew it knew all these things. It was surely from these germs Hectic was inflicting on poor Sujimichi. And Alimdia had a duty.
"DISINFECT!" alimdia shouted, before tensing its body and erupting hot, molten fluid onto Sujimichi's face. Hectic slipped off with merely a surprised whimper, but Sujimichi fell to the ground, screaming in pain.
"Yes it's exciting!" alimdia shouted jubilantly. Chemist1422 grabbed one of alimdia's legs before the second helping started, wincing an entire eye with sympathy for the lizard.
"What is going on here?" Toriel arrived on the scene, causing a wide range of responses: a pleading look from Sujimichi, some guilty looks from the monsters that felt like they could have stopped this somehow, and a beaming alimdia expecting to receive accolades from an adult any minute now.
"Sujimichi needs care. My word, that looks awful. There's no time to lecture alimdia, so please keep an eye on it for me. I'll be treating Sujimichi in the house, without need for disruption."
Toriel lifted Sujimichi into her arms, and began calling her husband's name as she walked into the house. Many of the monsters stood slackjawed at how quickly their plans had changed: they definitely didn't have Sujimichi as a stenographer anymore, but it didn't feel right to be playing a game right this second anyway.
The door to the home closed with a click.

Among all the younglings in the neighborhood, Toriel's own children and otherwise, this seemed like the only time they had ever felt the least bit unwelcome in the Dreemurr home. How long would that last? Did she mean it mean it?
All the younglings felt uncomfortable, even alimdia, who felt very strongly about being a continuing part of Sujimichi's flu curing; how could Toriel do that by herself?

Some time later..
Asgore marched forth from the Dreemurr home, a look of intent and determination on his face.
The younglings hoped for good news about Sujimichi, but only for just a second. They soon realized there was an anger on Asgore's face. They'd never seen that scowl before.
As he drew closer, he made eye contact with one monster in particular, who slowly withdrew into his shell, even though he had no idea why Asgore was so angry.
"SherlockHolmes, someone told me what you've done. I've never been so disappointed in you. Why, you were always the one to figure out what others had done wrong and correct them. So imagine how I felt to hear about you scheming against your own friends."
Asgore lifted the shell into his arms, and shook his head in disappointment. The turtle's yellow eyes glinted within the darkness of his shell, showing his own bewilderment to all the other younglings.
"I'm taking you home to your parents, and I will be letting them know they need to straighten you out." All the monsters were able to see afterwards was Asgore's broad cape flapping away from them, and the small round shell tucked under his elbow with a despairing tail limply hanging out from it.
The monsters looked at eachother uneasily, unsure what SherlockHolmes had been accused of doing, or how they could avoid being removed from the yard as well.

Hectic seemed to have a puzzled look when SherlockHolmes was whisked off. Especially when Asgore was far enough that his tail was only visible every other stride. Hectic struggled with object permanence sometimes.
"SherlockHolmes is going home," Chara explained. Hectic looked no less puzzled, and rolled around on the ground, all the while looking left and right quickly as though he were paranoid of his own reality.
"Do you have a home, Hectic? Or are you a stray?" Hectic's stomach was exposed, and Chara knelt to take the natural opportunity to rub his stomach again. None of the monsters seemed able to volunteer information about Hectic having a place of his own.
"Maybe we can find you a home. Or make you one. Mom and Dad have said we can't have pets, but everyone should have someplace that's theirs."
As though Hectic had some understanding, he leapt over to the largest pile of leaves and burrowed into them, finding a way to totally occlude his body. It was fun, but also made him feel a little bit safer from unexpected adult apprehensions and random acts of lava.

"Hectic is the one who got Sujimichi sick. What we need to make Hectic is not a home but a QUARANTINE. It is medically necessary. Otherwise, we could all get sick too." Steady fumes of light grey smoke puff from Bingle's crater, a sign it is thinking.
"Maybe we could do something like the arts and crafts game, but make him a muzzle and a headcone. And a clamp for his tail, for good measure. If we wait about a week, he should be better again, then we can play."
Bingle stamps its tiny feet, hoping the pattering sound will make it more convincing.

Hectic has clearly been won over by recurring pats and belly rubs from Chara. There were some monsters in the underground who had given Hectic a headpat here and there, but he had not really experienced a human before, and humans interact with dogs in their own special way. Monsters would often just ask Hectic why he hasn't enlisted or something, treating him like an adult.
"YIP! YIP!"
Hectic suddenly began digging, right in the front yard. He dug quickly and furiously. A steady spray of earth was flung and piled up behind him. It formed a mountain as Hectic somehow dug many, many times his body size.
When he was finished, he'd dug out a rectangular area a quarter of the size of the entire Dreemur home. It included a series of indents on one wall that formed a ladder. There was also an undug shape in the earth much like a bed, with length similar to Chara's height and a raised "pillow" with a comfy indentation shaped similar to one of Sans's lamps.
"YIP!"
The indented wall wasn't really practical for Hectic to exit his development. Instead, the sheer ecstasy of having finished caused him to float upwards and out of the hole, landing amongst the other youngsters again with muddy feet, where he licked Chara's ankles.

Nachomamma8 was impressed by Hectic's excavating capabilities.
"Totally rad, dawg! You made an underground in the Underground! You should put a shaft in there so you can dig while I dig that you dig! You dig!?!"
Nachomamma8 picked Hectic up and flew into the hole. Then he waddled over to the corner of the hole, the corner closest the Dreemur home. With his foot, he scraped a small beginning of a tunnel in the soft earth of the wall. Then he frosted the edges of the tunnel, hardening it so that it would not collapse. The tunnel was too small for Nachomamma8 himself, but he was confident he could chill the whole thing if it went deeper.
"You can burrow and go rescue Sujimichi! He's probably super bored and stuff! Also this is like prison break stuff it's really awesome! We're total rebels!"
Hectic's understanding seemed partial at best. He rolled onto his back and wallowed in the dirt, getting his body covered in fresh earth.
"YIP! YIP! YIP!"
Regardless, Hectic always liked when he sensed he was getting attention.

Farkran was interested in the developments down in the dirt room. But he was unable to descend. Even though he had a similar size to Chara, his hands were not as dextrous and could not use the handholds. Bingle noticed, and took some pity on the poor monster. Grey smoke puffed out of its body as it began thinking.

"Farkran, you wanna go down there right?" Bingle said. "I approve of that, since that room hasn't existed very long, it doesn't have very many germs. Dirt itself isn't unhealthy. You can even eat dirt and you'll be just fine. Trust me. I'm a doctor. I ate a bunch of dirt yesterday. I just had more lava. If you do the same thing it will work the same way. Anyway, I will help you."
Bingle leaned over and dribbled and spewed lava onto the edge of the pit. The jet of lava began to bore a hole into it. Bingle kept adjusting its aim downward, gradually, to make the rupture longer and inclined, walking backwards as it worked. When it was done, there was something like a long lavaslide leading into the pit, its width similar to Farkran's waist width. As of now, the lava was still piping hot.
"Hurry down! The lava will heal any cuts and scrapes on your legs as a bonus! Or you can slide on your tummy!" Bingle explained, grinning excitedly.
"Um, I don't know about that.." Farkran responded. "Maybe in a minute." He scratched his horn nervously. He was interested in a way down into the room, though.

Psyche was very impressed with Bingle's flow. It was quite the work of engineering, and it would certainly be rather wrong if Psyche didn't respect good engineering.
Psyche was impressed that Bingle seemed to be thoughtful about Farkran's health and safety in using the lava slide, but Psyche was not born yesterday, Psyche was not born ever, and it knew that it was potentially a hazard. Besides, it would make lots of sense for the kind but misguided Bingle to be sent down into the dirt room. That way, Bingle could be more closely supervised, which kind of seemed necessary at that point. Even though Psyche's purpose pertained to protecting younglings from strangers, it was natural for it to want to protect younglings from eachother too.
"Why don't you try out the slide yourself, Bingle?" Psyche asked, trying to be as persuasive as possible.
"No! I didn't make it for me! I made it for my friend!" Bingle insisted. Its voice cracked with heat and excitement midsentence.
"Hmmm."
Psyche could maybe push Bingle down the slide by force. But Psyche always favored diplomatic solutions.
"You know, Nachomamma8 and Hectic are down in there. Hectic might be licking Nachomamma8's face. This is even probable." Psyche pointed out.
"EMERGENCY!" Bingle shouted as it erupted. It jumped onto the lava slide and slid all the way down, its body naturally absorbing most of the lava along the way. When Bingle got there, it saw that Hectic was rolling around on the ground and not licking anyone.
"Oh, that's boring.", it said. It began to think about how to get back out, but the slide still looked too slippery to be an easy answer.

After sending Bingle down the slide, Psyche thought about what it had just said. It had pointed out how little Nachomamma8 and Hectic could be trusted to take care of themselves. Sending Bingle down there was having the mouse watch the cheese.
"Oh no! What have I done? I am not happy with this."
Psyche thought about which youngling is most deserving of respect, and turned to look at Asgore's little spitting image.
"You should go down there. The slide is pretty safe now, Farkran. I think you are very responsible and best fit to oversee any excavation endeavors, and maybe even deserve dominion over the final result. Please send Bingle back up here in your place."
Farkran was not too hard to convince. He gave Psyche a pat on the head, then slid down the slide, getting scraped rather than singed by the remaining lava since it had cooled and hardened. It wasn't too bad.
When Farkran arrived, Bingle was saying something about "washing the dirt off of dirty little Hectic", and it was clearly trouble.
"You need to head back to the yard, Bingle. Sorry!"
Farkran grabbed Bingle and shook him, causing him to begin rumbling. Then when he could tell it was about to blow, Farkran set Bingle feet first at the bottom of the slide and gave it a final shake. When Bingle erupted, the jet of lava propelled it up the slide, back into the yard, leaving behind a bright red vapor trail.
"There we go," Farkran concluded.

Psyche looked down and saw Nachomamma8, Farkran, and Hectic interacting. So happy. But it looked back at the house. Sujimichi was still in the house. Was Sujimichi feeling lonely? Psyche did not know but was concerned.

Hectic was still wallowing in the ground in front of the tunnel Nachomamma8 had set up. He simply did not seem motivated to burrow.

Psyche had a natural understanding of operant conditioning. Most of the exercises it had been taught relied on that! And Psyche was aware of one way Hectic had already been conditioned, a week or so ago.

Psyche found the book Sujimichi had left behind when he was taken away. He nudged the book until it fell into the large hole, but then slid away so that Hectic could imagine Sujimichi had thrown it.

"YIP! YIP! YIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIPYIP!!
YYYYYYYIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!"
Hectic's entire body vibrated intensely and erratically with ecstasy and excitement. Hectic recognized the game fetch, and that Sujimichi had thrown him a book to return to him. If he returned the book, he knew he would receive a head pat. He KNEW this. That was how it WORKED.
Hectic immediately started traveling towards Sujimichi the most obvious way he noticed, which incidentally was Nachomamma8's tunnel. He dug and burrowed like a rotating, corkscrewing missile. Nachomamma8 breathed from his beak to keep the tunnel cold like he planned, so it did not collapse.

The sounds of rupturing earth finally ended, as Hectic had presumably reached his destination. Psyche laid down, and casually allowed its pedestal to dangle over the edge of the hole. Psyche felt it had done good.

Following Hectic's journey into the Dreemurr home, all the monsters felt a little nervous about how they had been instructed that no one should be entering the home until Sujimichi had recovered. They also felt a little bit concerned about the massive hole in the front yard. They moved leaves towards the edge of the hole, making it a little less noticeable.
Just as they we finishing, the king himself came out of the house.
"There is sawdust all over the front page of Sujimichi's book. He is crying, and it is the worst time for it. How could you be so cruel as to mess with his things when an injury is what separated him from it?"
Asgore stamped towards Psyche and picked it up. Psyche's eye seemed to glisten with fear, even though he had done nothing like what Asgore charged.
"I'm not giving up on you, but you will have to be boxed up until officials at the CORE can retrain you."
Asgore held Psyche's pedestal with one hand and its head with another, and decapitated it. Psyche's eye still glowed with sentience, but its body became lifeless and still. Asgore stuffed both of them in a box right in front of the house.
"You should all know to take care of eachother. If you all can stay out of naughtiness for an hour straight, you may receive tea and pie." Asgore went back into the house, not even casting a glance over his shoulder back at the younglings.

I assumed they could only remove from the unspared ... but it's true that it isn't specified. In other cases, it is specified whether an effect can target unspared only (i.e. S1/F3) or spared and unspared alike (the kill from 2S/2F). Can you clarify?

The quality of being spared only protects someone from something if it is both factional and a nightkill. The remark that the 2 spare shot can target spared players is therefore redundant (but potentially helpful), because even though it's a kill, it's not factional, so being spared wouldn't offer any protection anyway.
Spared players aren't protected from removal-from-the-game because it's not factional, and doubly not protected because it's not even a kill. That was enough to make the reminder seem so redundant that I omitted it, but in hindsight it was worth including.

Farkran saw Asgore rend Psyche's head from its body, and was visibly upset about the loss of his precious buddy. He turned to look at his sibling. "If I didn't have to share Psyche with a new sibling, it would be easier to keep an eye on it. I think you should be made to march all the way to the CORE to get me a new dummy, right now. If you do that, perhaps I could forgive you and you could be a good sibling again. It's a long journey, but we could prepare you rations." Farkran had never felt so much jealousy and anger towards his sibling before this roller coaster day. Chara seemed just as upset about the loss, but did not accept blame. "I - Asgore says Psyche is a bit more like a person than a thing, so, people do wrong things sometimes, Farkran. Where I come from, they do them even more often, and finding others to blame does no good."
It drove Psyche crazy that its audio sensors could detect the conversation at this range. Psyche's training instinct so badly wanted to teach them about defusing tension in diplomatic conversations, but alas, it was immobile.

There was a shimmer, and Replica seemed to materialize between Farkran and Chara. Replica had a rather constant stream of tears dribbling from their eyes, as had been the case for quite a while now. Arts and crafts time seemed like a long-forgotten memory this side of seeing Psyche dismantled.

"Farkran… you say for Chara to go get you a new dummy.. but.. you're very picky.. you always say it's because you're royalty.... neither of you have a cell phone.... what if Chara gets the wrong kind? I think... you should go get the dummy yourself... in fact... maybe we could use a break from you... maybe.. um a royal intermission and all.."

With little in the way of a segue, Replica lied down, contemplating the possible available dummies. "Do you think... there's one that can float... like me?... or maybe, there is one that can sing... or maybe one shaped like a cat...". The tears in one of Replica's eyes, though not the other, subsided, because there was something about idle thought that was special to Replica.

"Farkran maybe you can bring us back some extras.. you seem to agree it's not too hard of a journey... I can help make you rations.."
Replica rolled over onto their face, afraid to see Farkran's potentially negative reaction, but then they rolled onto their back again, daring to hope to see their plan come together.

Bingle looked a little bit pensive. "In my education in becoming a doctor I also received a mastered degree in Astronomy. Also Chemistry and Mycology. But most importantly, Biology," Bingle began.

Bingle was literally 3.

"As a biologist I can classify monsters, we classify based on a genetics. I have noticed that Psyche only had one eye, and Chemist1422 also only has one eye. Therefore they have the same genetics half-life," Bingle began pacing back and forth, fancying itself a sort of professor. It was rather awkward with its stubby legs, but it managed.

"I propose that if we amputate Chemist1422's limbs, he will become immobile, and that will change him from having mostly Psyche genetics to having exactly Psyche genetics. Chemist1422's limbs are healthy so they will be hard to remove but one of the first rules of the code of doctors is 'Do Arm', and 'Do Leg' is eighth or so. Then Chemist1422 can be our replacement dummy. The funny thing is that when we pick sides for kickball Chemist1422 will go from last pick to last pick." Bingle did a strange sort of laugh at its own joke that was totally unvocalized, but it sprayed spurt of lava out of its crater in a way that was clearly a humored reaction.

Chemist1422 cradled his left leg protectively. His limbs were his most treasured features aside from his eye. This was most probably because his limbs were essentially his only features aside from his eye. "I don't mind if I'm not the best at kickball, but please don't bully me about it. And I would really rather keep my limbs.. thanks.." His huge eye began to glisten with a film of water as Bingle's proposal and jab punctured Chemist1422's fragile emotional state.

A previous post implying Psyche ever had more than one eye was edited away because I can do that because I'm writing flavor in a mafia game and not releasing a serial television program.
This is one of the points I'm selectively conforming to canon on, tricking the player into presuming that Training Dummy has two eyes is one of game's many microjokes.

"Bingle has some really good ideas. And my new father has said that having a training dummy is for our safety, even if I don't know exactly what that means. So if we don't have a replacement, we are in danger. I say that we are taking whatever measures necessary to ensure we have one." Chara said these thing as they walked to a toolbox on the porch and pulled out a saw, a screwdriver, some sandpaper, and a ratchet. They walked back towards Chemist1422 and the group smiling, and one of their eyes glowed more than the other - why was that?
"You might become the best dummy ever. Certainly the one with the largest eye." Chara used the sandpaper to sharpen the saw, being as theatrical as they could manage.
After the saw was "sharp enough", they held the sandpaper up in the sunlight. "Bingle, is it normal 'genetics' for a dummy to have horns?" They thumbed the sandpaper ominously. "Because I want us to have a dummy just as authentic as if someone had gone to the CORE and retrieved us one promptly."
"No." Bingle answered. This prompted Chara to put the sandpaper along with the saw as the instruments with primary relevance.
Chara used their feet to make a round shape of grass within the leaves, close to the shape of Chemist1422's body. "Okay, Chemist1422, step forward - with your last steps, the best ones - and lie down here for your procedure."
Chemist1422's eye widened and widened and widened. Then with a resolute blink, the loox easily decided on the better alternative.
"I'll go get one I'll get one I'll get one!" He ran as fast as he could in the direction of the CORE, running so fast he soon tripped and his spherical body began rolling towards the CORE.
"I may or may not have seen that outcome coming," Chara admitted.

Toriel came out of the house, with a quick pace that suggested that something was still in the oven. Chemist1422 was so tiny in the distance that she wasn't aware of his departure.
"Hectic has come inside, if you all were wondering where he is. Do you know where Psyche is? Psyche would be an excellent supervisor for him."
The younglings realized Toriel must be unaware of what had happened to Psyche. None of them spoke to explain to her what exactly happened - it was too traumatic.
"It's very magical how a spirit comes to inhabit something like a dummy. It happens in a very special process. They join if they match the 'rhythm' of the host. I have a very thick book about it." Toriel was prone to sharing trivia at unexpected times, even though usually the topic was snails.
"I will look for Psyche inside. For now, I can't keep an eye on Hectic so this doll should stay outside. He is bound to chew it up."
Toriel set down the doll, and left to return to the house.
"Quite the creation," Replica commented. They drifted closer and found that the doll had a pull-string. Replica couldn't help but try it.
"~Meow meow MEOW meeeow mow meow me MEOW~"
The little cat doll cried a prerecorded melody. Replica smiled slightly. They did not pull the string again, feeling the one play stood well on its own.
But Replica heard the sound again. Someone among the younglings was humming, humming the same melody. But the hummer was adding new bits and rhythms in between the main notes.
Replica tried to locate the source of the song, but before they could, they realized someone else was humming too, harmonizing. The music became even more ornate, and elaborate.
Replica had a deep love of music.
Replica felt their (lack of) body begin to jive with the beat. They swayed left. They swayed right. They dosidooed and double dipped. The beat was too strong. They twirled and felt too graceful to feel depressed.
The more they danced, the doll began to levitate towards Replica, and it vibrated. Replica paid it no attention, only responding to their rhythmic urges. As the doll drew close to directly touching Replica, the hummers shifted their song into fortissimo.

Like a cloud being sucked into a vacuum, Replica was absorbed into the doll, a more deeply yellow glow in the doll's eyes signifying its change in sentience. What was once empty had a soul!
Unfortunately, the doll had a history, that gave it a fear of large groups like the younglings, and Replica felt their feelings altered by this history.
"HHHSSSSSS!"
Their fearful hiss was involuntary, and their natural shyness paired with the doll's bad experiences caused Replica to flee the group, sprinting towards Waterfall.

After Toriel returned to the house, Farkran smelled something good drifting towards his nostrils. It smelled like.. casserole? His mother was cooking a hot meal, and probably naturally prepared a large serving. But what if she forgot about the hungry monsters who were not inside?
At the same time, they still seemed to be under some direction to not enter the house. So whoever requested food could get in trouble. This made Farkran want to pick somebody else.
"Nachomamma8, Mom and Dad are making food, and I say the youngest of us should have to be the one to go and check on it. You're the youngest. Would you find out if supper is ready?"
It wasn't entirely true. The actual youngest was -
"I'm thirty seven but I got my Sumo Calm Loud at fourteen!"
Farkran ignored that remark and its questionable veracity. "You can pick the size of the slices if you check for us, Nachomamma8." Farkran would much rather get a smaller slice than risk getting a timeout. He crossed his arms, confident he could compel Nachomamma8 into action with his royal disposition.

Bingle also wanted pie, but it had a different angle on things.
"Nachomamma8, pie in its basic state is very low nutrition. It does not have much Magcium or Tiber. I think it is best if you sneak in and snatch the pie so that I can use my lava to cook it through its last bit of heating. It will be enriched with my fresh nutrients."
Bingle seemed to bubble just with the excitement of the notion.
"You can find a window and break in with your beak. I will just heal the window later. That way, we won't get in trouble. Probably."
Bingle closes its eyes and nodded cheerfully.
Nachomamma8 was not exactly onboard.
"Have you heard a watched pot doesn't boil? Why do you want to ruin the excitement of guessing when we get the pie? The suspense that Toriel might walk out with some any time is heart pumping adrenaline!" Nachomamma8 flaps his wings to emphasize his words. Bingle's idea did not sound good to him, and he was actually having some fun wondering and guessing what actions would cause Asgore's vague promise of rewards for good behavior to trigger. It was like playing a word search without a key at the bottom.

Chara felt their stomach start to rumble as they looked forward to the notion of eating some food.
"Regardless of who asks, some pie would really hit the spot," they admitted. They listened to Bingle's over the top plan for obtaining pie, but were a little skeptical. But a topic stuck out to them.
"Speaking of health, we should wash our hands if we are going to eat soon. We've been playing outside, some of us even touched a muddy dirt pit."
Chara went to pick up a sponge from the front of the house, and dampened it with the outdoor faucet. In the village they came from, they relied on a well for water, so it didn't occur to them to keep their hands beneath the spigot and let the water wash over their hands.
Chara wiped some mud off of their own hands, then went to the others. They asked Amrun to remove her shoes temporarily so they could wipe her paws. They swept the sponge along each of Nachomamma8's wingtips. And they asked Bingle which foot it might use to push the pie into its mouth, and cleaned it accordingly.
When Chara came to their brother, he was hiding his hands behind his back.
"What's wrong, brother? I know it's not a monster custom, but you've always enjoyed it when I introduced it before."
"I already washed my hands. I am ready to eat pie," Farkran said, scrunching his shoulders.
Chara shook their head.
"The sponge was dry when I picked it up. I know you would not say that if it were not true, but you must have done it so long ago it needs to be done again." Chara's tone was polite.
"You're calling me dirty. Do you think your own brother is dirty? Do you not want to be my sibling?" Farkran had begun to frown. Something seemed off.
"I'm not trying to say that. Washing is good even if your hands are clean. Here, I will put our hands side by side and wash them at the same time so you don't feel like I'm shaming you." Chara grabbed at Farkran's wrist and pulled his hand up next to theirs, palm up.
Piny flecks of sawdust were scattered across his palm and caked his thumb.
"Farkran?!" Chara's C minor voice grew louder and louder.
"Did you-?

With Psyche?

"
"I... I was so angry," Farkran stuttered.
Chara's last words had been so loud they seemed sure to alarm the adults. And those were their last words for the time being, because Chara began to cry about their betrayal.
"What's going on?" Asgore was the first responder, walking towards the sound of despair right away. Chara had latched onto Farkran's wrist and was holding it still, so Asgore could easily see all the sawdust as well.
"Farkran, did you ruin Sujimichi's book, not Psyche?" he roared.
For Farkran's father, the expression on Farkran's face was even more clarifying than a verbal answer. "You know so much better than to do such a dark thing. You make me feel ashamed of you, and you must be punished for this. Severely. You know so so much better.." Asgore looked pained, as though he was hurt as well as angry.
Asgore thought what to do, deliberating for seconds that seemed like hours.
"Since you've demonstrated you can't treat Psyche right, you are losing it. I had something in mind for Chara soon anyway, but I can't trust you with any companions at all. Go into the infirmary, find Psyche in a box, and ask which of your friends it would like to be with. I will transfer Psyche's soul into one of their toys or dolls for their first playdate, which you shall not attend. I'll give them tickets to ride with the riverwoman, and you can think about how much you wish you behaved as well as your friend who's riding with the riverman."

Asgore opened the door and held out his arm, allowing only Farkran to go inside the house. His demeanor fell so sad his horns seemed to droop. In truth, the twisted boy was more sad about losing Psyche as a status item rather than friendship.

As the door shut, the younglings wondered what type of object Psyche might come to inhabit, and if it would be more novel than a cat doll.

Psyche will get 48 hours plus a 24 hour prod to submit a kill, mafia will get 48 hours to submit a protection as applicable. If he does not submit a kill even after 72 hours, a kill of the mafia's preference will be used instead (which they should submit during the first 48 hours.)

A special "fast night" procedure will be in effect: because there is a protect to perform if and only if mafia was spared, I will resolve the action and unlock the thread as soon as I receive input from Sujimichi, Hectic, and Psyche. The friendly neighbor does not get to visit during this action and does not need to make input.

Farkran returned from the house through the front door, holding the box full of Psyche. "Psyche said.. Bingle." Farkran admitted.
"Excellent". Asgore replied.
Bingle's mouth curled into a round circle, surprised at being selected. Asgore knelt close to Bingle and reached into its crater to pull out a floating chunk of rock, shaped like tiny golem man. "I've noticed you always keep this with you Bingle, you must be fond of it. Let's put some life into it."
Asgore set the golem on top of the other broken parts in the box and began to shake the box, matching a rhythm. He channeled magic from his fingers to enhance his control over it, and rattled so methodically it sounded like an impromptu ditty of some maracas. Eventually, on one of the upward thrusts, the golem popped out of the box and started floating, opening crimson eyes that hadn't been there before.
"I can speak again. That's a good start," Psyche remarked. He swam through the air until he could reach Bingle's crater, where he had a natural urge to hop inside. He tried out splashing in the lava with his new heat resistant body. Bingle grinned and played along by blowing lava bubbles around him.
"Take good care of Psyche. Here's a ticket for the ferry to go to hotland. Heats flamesman can help you give Psyche a makeover so that he can enjoy his new incarnation." Bingle was delighted, and walked off to go engage in something he hadn't taken an interest in just yet: cosmetic surgery.

But for the rest of you, let's all eat at the table together to celebrate that Sujimichi has finally recovered." Sujimichi and Hectic were at the front door, and the signs of scarring on his face were scarcely visible by now, he merely looked sheepish from magic side effects. All the monsters came inside and gathered around the table.

Amrun was excited to be served her pie. At her home, she was often asked to pitch in and do chores like cooking supper, so she appreciated being able to relax and be a guest.
"Thank you so much, Mrs. Dreemurr! I always love your baking." With no lack of decorum, she removed her right shoe from her paw and set it on the ground, and she lowered her tail behind her so that it was out of view, as was custom. She took small, polite bites of her pie, and promptly wiped her face whenever any unsightly pie filling got on her face.
"You're welcome, Amrun. It's always a delight to welcome you."
Meanwhile, Nachomamma8 was standing directly on the table, even though Toriel had set his chair on enough books that he could have been comfortable using his chair. He looked up at Toriel and down at his portion.
"GAH! There's no way I could eat all this! Why'd you give me so much?" he blurted. H e circled his food and intermittently dipped down to peck bites of it, presenting a rude side of him to others at times depending which way he was facing when he decided on another peck.
"You don't have to clean your plate, Nachomamma8, what you don't eat will be used for composting, ok?" Toriel told Nachomamma8, with a layer of strain. Toriel went to the kitchen to go get more napkins.
Amrun scowled at Nachomamm8. She felt as though he was ruining her ideal evening with his lack of manners. How could he be ungrateful? If he acted like that, did he even belong here?
"Mr. Dreemur, I thought I saw a look on Toriel's face.. did something I say stress her? I wouldn't want her to feel that way after a day like today."
It was predictable when Asgore assured her that she hadn't, but Amrun knew it'd draw attention to the one who had.

Hectic loved his snail casserole, eagerly chomping down to devour the slimy slugness and to crunch and shatter the crunchy shell bits mixed in. Where Nachomamma8 was eating in a way that made the process slower, Hectic seemed bent on eating the casserole as fast as possible. It looked like a much larger serving than the tiny dog merited, but the little dog's tail flailed like a metronome as he inhaled the treat until only a fraction was left.
Once he reached only a quarter left, with an excited look on his face, he floated over the pan, vibrated, then returned to his chair, and lied on his back with an insoluble grin. Where the pan was before, there was nothing.
Most everyone noticed, and it seemed a little funny, but since it was Hectic, nobody felt convinced it had to make sense. Everyone went on, continuing to finish their meals.
Bit by bit, unusual remarks came in.
"My pie suddenly tastes.. slimier? It's not awful though," Chara mentioned.
"These last few berries seem very crunchy," Sujimichi observed.
"Gah, this is getting even more filling. And it seems like it needs some salt!" Nachomamma8 complained
At last, Amrun had a look of realization on her face, and a bit of a look of shock about what she had recently eaten. "This is not good! Hectic, I'm allergic. I'm going to haff to go sssssss mmm mmmm mmmmm." Her tongue quickly began swelling, which everyone could see, because holding her mouth open was more comfortable with the way her cheeks and gums were swelling too.
"Mmmm ddd mmm ksss?" Amrun could tell it was going to be unintelligible, but she had to at least try to ask to be excused. She quickly donned her shoes and dashed out of the front door, heading home to where her mother had some ointments meant for when this comes up.

Farkran came up the stairs, with a sad, penitent look on his face. His parents hadn't told him his timeout were over, so they planned to banish him back. But they were surprised by what he said.

"I've been thinking in my timeout, and I want to apologize to Sujimichi." Farkran rubbed his horns nervously, and glanced towards Sujimichi shyly. "And I have something to give him. May I talk with him in my room? I know I wouldn't be in timeout anymore. But it is part of my effort to be less naughty."

Toriel and Asgore looked at eachother, silently consulting about the matter. They seemed to read in eachother's faces that it did seem like Farkran was being genuine in turning over a new leaf.

Sujimichi had had very little food, so he was already done with his berries, having cleared his plate of even the extra crunchy ones. But Hectic was lapping from a recently supplied bowl of water, Chara still had half of their pie left, and Nachomamma8's had hardly peck away that much of his food at all.

Sujimichi looked open to hearing from Farkran.
"You are excused, Sujimichi," Asgore said. Farkran took Sujimichi's hand and led him down the hall all the way to his room, and shut himself away inside with the lizard.

A happenstance pause in conversation seemed to align with the clock striking seven hours past noon. The clock made that sound every hour. Yet something seemed to make everything in the air tilt this time.

"You all forgot."

Chara's eyes looked at Asgore, Toriel, Snowdrake, and Annoying Dog with an eerie emotion. Their irises had the discontent of a soul in hell, yet the serenity of someone who was asleep.

"You said that I would be a welcome part of this home and this kingdom a long time. That I would truly belong. And that exactly one year from the day I fell, you would throw me the most delightful anniversary party, one worth forgetting about parties in the village. You promised. I remember, it was at seven."

Chara took the last bit of pie crust off their plate with their thumb and forefinger and popped it into their mouth. Then with perfect calmness, they observed their plate was clear, and dropped it onto the ground, letting it shatter. Chara was not scolded. All the monsters instead had a look of shock and regret.
"It's.. there's so many things," Asgore stuttered.
"I became so distracted by the events of the day." Toriel explained, trailing off.
"I forgot the very next day after I learned what the anniversary was specifically because it was an adult that told me, but I guess that ain't fair to you." Snowdrake admitted.
Annoying Dog lied on the table and whimpered, not particularly happy.
Would things have turned out this way, if thoughtful monsters like the Loox and Manticore had stuck around and had a chance to remember? Or the monsters hadn't injured Spelling Lizard and sent Annoying Dog to console him, distracting both parents from the day's date?
Asriel returned from his room, with no reptile in tow. "Seven passed, didn't it?" he remarked knowingly. "Chara was afraid you might forget their anniversary. I gave them a present from me this morning. I remembered."
Chara turned their head to look at Asriel for a moment, their lips smoothly transitioning into a smile when they looked at their brother, then sliding back to a more disdainful look when they returned to regarding the others.
Snowdrake looked embarrassed about hearing Chara had received a gift, and felt as though he should at least be sure to give Chara a belated gift. Snowdrake rummaged in his own plumage and produced a small picture frame that he planned to plant on a Gyftrot, but could repurpose for the occasion. He also had a red marker, that he had planned to use for graffiti on that same Gyftrot
"H-happy belated anniversary. You could use this for photos, and draw and customize it and stuff."
Chara's expression did not directly demonstrate forgiveness, but their hands picked up the picture frame. After briefly admiring it, they stowed it in their pocket along with the market. It seemed like acceptance.
Annoying Dog observed this gifting process, and walked across the table to make his own offering. He coughed a couple times, then spat up a shiny red bauble, one he kept in cases of opportunities to play catch.
Chara declined to touch the salivia-drenched orb while it was still damp, but they gave the dog a brief pat on the forehead.

"I will hide this for you, someplace very tricky. You can retrieve it again, and it will be the greatest game of fetch."

Chara then looked at Asgore and Toriel. It was as though the ability of Snowdrake and Annoying Dog to provide at least a belated gift pushed their disappointment in their guardians to the next level. The spouses felt so empty, guilty, and ashamed. Chara had done little to ensure they remembered, but had done everything to ensure their own parents felt like dog residue if they forgot, all year.
"The pie was dinner just because it's dinner time. But for your anniversary you will get a special dessert." Toriel blurted.
"And tea, but with special sea flavoring." Asgore added.
The pair hustled back into the kitchen, where there was a cacophony of rushed noises of preparation.
They re-emerged with their offerings.
Asgore was holding a cup of tea, which was only as hot as the tea that was already being prepared anyway, but was special in its blue-green swirls from a novel flavoring. He set it in front of Chara, having plenty of room for the cup since Chara had obliterated their dining space earlier. "The finest for my child."
Toriel had also had no time to prepare. She had a treat that she had used to cheer Asriel's spirits many a time, but had always served thoroughly cooked. She had no idea that the cooking was what made it safe, only that Asriel preferred them that way. In fact, Asriel's birthday was in just four days, and if that hadn't slipped her mind, she would have already cooked the treat in advance.
"And here are seven buttercups, to go with your tea. You'll love them, my child, they're delicious."
Chara looked at their offerings, seeming to reserve judgment for a moment. Then, first, they took a curt sip of their tea, followed by a deeper sip that showed they liked it. Their lips did not curl with pleasure, but their eyes slightly gleamed.
Then they looked at the lovely buttercups. They were hesitant about the idea of eating flowers, as it was something they hadn't tried before.
Asriel grasped their hand encouragingly. "I can vouch that they taste delightful. You deserve something special, sibling."
Chara smiled at their brother, and ate the first buttercup in one confident bite, which was followed by a surprised, satisfied smile. The buttercup was delicious - but a twisted part of Chara also delighted in destroying something so beautiful so completely.
They snapped the stems of the other six flowers like necks, and ate all of the rest of them too, one by one.
When they had finished, something felt right about it. It was as though although their world seemed to urgently need remaking when the clock first struck seven, but now the way things had gone, perhaps this was a world that had already been remade. Just for Chara.
They stood from their chair to embrace their brother in a warm, endearing hug.

"As long as there is one person I can deeply count on, I think I have place here. Promise me, Asriel?"

Chara's pleading words were all spoken quietly into Asriel's ear while they still embraced, so quiet no one else could hear.

"No matter what. I promise."

In a final post made with the thread locked, I want to discuss SherlockHolmes' conduct in this game.
This was part of my ruleset for this game:

I am not sure whether it is necessary to fall to that level of catch-all to provide basis for condemning SherlockHolmes' conduct, but at that level, it is certainly beyond sufficient.
SherlockHolmes' post about Sujimichi's scum PT post was clearly SherlockHolmes perceiving that Sujimichi had violated the rules of Undertale S Open and the web site by discussing the ongoing game Undertale S Open, listing it by omission as one of the game in which he had rolled town. That makes him a mandatory reporter to report rulebreaking conduct to the moderator as soon as he has noticed it, which he did not do. This is intuitive in life in general, if your cousin has 50$, passes Go and collects 400$ instead of 200$, but lands on your hotel on Baltic, and you notice, it is intuitive to everyone that it is wrong to collect 450$ from your cousin because this has benefited you.
Mandatory reporting is pervasive in site culture, which SherlockHolmes on his main account is probably a part of. The rules for Team Mafia had an extra rule emphasizing that out of line out-of-thread communication be reported to the moderators. My most recent game to moderating this game had an incident with a player PMing me out of thread, and I forwarded it to the backup moderator and moderator, who both treated this as correct and expected action.
Even when cheating is innocuous, mafia has a very nasty side effect with it that "observant of the rules" does not relate to either the town or scum wincon, so public violations or soft violations of the rules in pursuing the town wincon can powerfully confirm a player as town.
I discussed SH's actions with the listmod and it confirmed my suspicions that I had to give mercy to SherlockHolmes mostly because it was best for the health of the remainder of the game. Publically punishing him generates even more information about his alignment, potentially. Team mafia just ended its last game, in which I correctly judged kuribo was scum based on the way in which moderator discretion was used.

SH was however, secretly punished. I launched this game without recognizing the White Flag dynamic Bingle pointed out day 3. As a punishment against SH's faction, I pointed this out to the scumteam in the scum PT during N1, even though I would never do this in a normal game, and even though it could be impactful : the scumteam of 1.1 made a mechanical error in playing.

SH does not seem particularly malicious in his conduct, but it's outside the lines of what I find acceptable. He is WOTM'ed from future games of this series, unless he apologies and promises that the "feeling of angleshooting" coincides with contacting the moderator in the future (I would have contacted him, if I didn't figure it was probably a metaphor for a very cute diction tell or something).

Sujimichi never violated any rules, because he did/would have simply make posts using the "ongoing games don't exist" style. This concept seemed more foreign to players in the thread the less they knew Sujimichi's personality, and the less they themselves multitable. I posted posts in that style about three times in scum PTs last year.

The replacement soup this game started on was very frustrating and surprising. This series has never had a replacement before, this game had 5 depending on how you count. I uh, maybe blame Team Mafia. Team Mafia is an even that means things to some people, it has a right to compete for resources, but that might be part of it.

After that stopped, though, this game had the highest postcount of any game in the series and had a lot of fascinating engagement, with both factions playing very well. All the players who were new to me were very exciting to read and learn more about, and are new favorites.

The setup is still townsided. I knew when I launched the setup it was still townsided, but both previous games had been enjoyed anyway, and I didn't want to hold up rerunning it again forever when runs of the setup could give me inspiration for how to fix it. Nacho was able to correctly identify scum!Chara for its being forced to dodge a white flag mechanic in a 9:2 with a conftown, and that's a bit much. Chara won anyway because its fake towntown is uber tier.

I have lots of ideas for revisions of the setup, some of them include making it a smalltown or going to 10:3. I would be interested in hearing preferences about how its designed. The thinking behind smalltown is that it allows PRs to exist, which some players find fun, but it removes the overly straightforward strategy of "conftown player claims->so, spare them, that makes sense". The idea behind 10:3 (or 9:3) is that there is a greater percentage of scum in the game, so the game will be more fun in game states where scum is spared early and there is potentially a very low number of scum in the game thread, which could be awkward.
