i'm inclined to say that when scum wants to do their one kill they have to decide on it during the day and then it happens after the lynch. not a

Voting

Game Mechanics

• The Mafia team this game is composed of one person controlling two accounts.
  
• This game is One-kill Mountainous. All players are Vanilla, and the Mafia may perform only one nightkill the entire game.

• Anti-Alt-Claim Mechanic:

I meant what I said on Komainu about modkills, by the way. I think modkilling is the only way to deal with an altslip.

half of the reason the alt-kill mechanic even exists is to sort of, if not remove, at least mitigate the game-breaking factor of alt-slips. (the other half just being that i find figuring out who people are interesting and so thought it would be an interesting mechanic)

i considered this, as well. the advantages are obvious, although i did think that a public thread would be better for the sake of anyone who cared to spectate.

in retrospect, perhaps that's the biggest mistake about this setup – i suppose it doesn't really make sense to give theoretical spectators (of which there are likely few) more weight than the players themselves, especially when the players are already making such a big commitment by joining the game in the first place. if this game does get a sequel / another run, i think that it probably makes sense to go with it being played in a PT.

i think it's sort of interesting how people seem to fall into the same sort of biases this game as they do in regular games. for instance, suspecting kuzco as the least "charismatic" (or most lynchbait) player because his posts / logic tend to be somewhat weird. it's justified as "he has an unnatural vibe like a doppelganger", but i would imagine that if scum are capable of presenting themselves normally that they could do the same thing for their other account.

granted, kuzco only has 8 posts, but i like to think that i would actually take being kind of weird as a towntell in this game, because i think it's difficult to naturally fake, i think that someone who posts like that normally might have trouble faking an alternate identity, and i think that even

if

scum could convincingly fake that kind of posting, they probably wouldn't choose to.

Karma mask misconjugated an irregular conjugation english verb which is a difficult-to-feign sign of ESL and I think the ESL playerbase of MS is like, ~10%? not a filter you want.

Then the very stark "too bad no foxes" comment seemed very Kerset-esque although maybe there's other people who could do that. Still seems like a narrow pool of people who are ESL.

Kerset doesn't really alt (?) but "I alt all the time no one catches me ur wrong" is not necessarily something I should falter about. Any player would want any other player to lose confidence in their own alt reads. And also the comment is very much a Johnny Depp "if it was the truth he wouldn't've told us" as you could kill scum with false confidence guesses.

I think being ESL gives the slot trucktons of town equity from no other slot in the game being obviously ESL and several of them being too prolific to be so I really wish Karma was more cooperative. If Karma is just an SS tier mother tongue English player who managed to misconjugate the irregular verb "catch" on the fly I would just want to take the L (especially if that difficult characteristic continues and is consistent, I kind of didn't want to bring up the topic after a dayvig announcement rather than before)

My game has succeeded.

I first made lone wolf probably like two years ago at this point (wow i'm old) precisely because I wanted this exact sort of linguistic analysis to be a part of mafia. Looking at the way people construct their sentences, their grammar, phrasing, etc. I thought was super cool and didn't really factor into the game of mafia as much as I wished it did, so I came up with the setup sort of to fit the gameplay. It failed back then, but this post alone is proof enough for me that, even if not fully in execution, I have succeeded in concept.

I think what really made it click this time around is the alt-guess-kill. Both scum and town are trying to figure out people's true identities for different reasons and with different incentives, and it removes some of the game-breaking nature of both slips and of outright claiming who you are. In Lone Wolf, I had to make it a rule that you couldn't say who you were and you weren't supposed to say who you thought people were, but that's a super crude solution and breaks down really easily. Accounting for it as part of the game rather than trying to prevent it outright is, I think, the best way to go about it.

well, i suppose i'm rooting for town like i always do, but maybe this game less so than usual. SS is playing this so well that i can't help but want him to go the distance, it's just so interesting to watch. so, i guess more than rooting for town i'm just rooting for a dramatic eventual showdown that involves a lot of deep analysis over identities regardless of who ends up winning. also, i think i might have some obligation to be on SS' side this game, if only as penance for having rolled him scum in like every game of mine he's ever joined.

You shouldn't scumread Kay for this. She is from another website and I think she has overrated how much player overlap there is by a lot which is why she got weirdly flighty over something no one seems to recognize ( I did not recognize it either, I visit that site so little, but it must be recognizable there)

I am not positive I have her identified but feel like even if my guess is wrong, it is a player influenced by who I am thinking of. So being scared on this alien planet makes sense and is not yakuza scared of undercover cops.
