It's been pointed out before that being no fun and using pseudovotes to collectively select a neighborhood that will be forced to destroy itself is better EV than playing normally. This is a lot more workable in this variant of the setup because theres an odd number of neighborhoods.

this setup is based on a shitpost I made once

Ah, cause an individual voting themself only has a 1/7 chance to be right, whereas if we vote on hoods we have a 1/3 chance then a 1/2 chance.. kind of ?

I just want to be transparent with the thread and let everyone know because I think transparency with the thread is important right now:

Isis and superbowl are having a massive 1v1 in the hood. It's kind of weird but Isis thinks superbowl is town acting intentionally scummy, and superbowl is denying it and accusing Isis of conspiring. It's getting kind of heated and I'm uncomfortable standing in the crossfire. Any advice for how I should be handling this, to put a handle on it?

That is certainly interesting, especially so if you're town and you don't think it's theatre. I am not really sure why any of that is happening -- a townie supposedly acts intentionally scummy, gets it pointed out that they're scummy town, they deny it, and then they call the accuser a conspirator.

try offering them both food, then maybe you could all have a snack break and calm down for a while

Isis wants me to let her resolve it but I really think everyone needs to know this. I'll summarise what happened, Morning Tweet:

The thing is he outright refuses to talk to me now and is insisting we're both scum. I just want us to be friends, and I don't think this is theatre. What should I do? I need advice on what to do, because I don't think our hood is in a theatre.

My first thought would be: if Tommy is town, then the entire hood is probably town, unless it seems really theatrey. I suppose it's also possible that Tommy is scum with Isis or superbowl and this is a real TvS interaction between superbowl and Isis, i just don't really have enough info to know what's most likely yet

Also it's the least fun way to play a setup since if you have faith in your teammates you can't play Conspiracy in your hood.

i dont get it -- theres 6/7 odds im with my teammates, so it's much more likely scum is outside of my hood. It makes more sense to me prioritize seeing if scum is elsewhere, rather than spending your time being paranoid of your partners. Additionally if i spend all my time investigating my own hood, and it's wrong, im not gonna know what to do later with regards to the other two hoods

Presently id be extremely surprised if im being conspired against, given a.) 6/7 odds, b.) One opposing hood is silent, the other has weird arguments happening, and c.) my independent townreads of my hoodmates so far

The fact that you've had no arguments would make yall more sus if anything, wouldn't it? In most mafia games I've played, "nice" interactions are usually scum/scum or scum buddying town, confrontations are usually started by town and more likely to hit town

Eeeh i suppose you could say that with regards to arguing. i could just as easily see a case for it being nai (just depends on who the players are and how argumentative they are), or it being scummy (scum feels like they need to do something to make their group stand out as the towniest)

I think my hood is town. Personally I think it’s Isis hood because she does weird role play things as scum (see weird Hydra game) and I think her neighborhood does not have 40 pages in it.

My second guess behind your hood was their hood, with gobble/galron conspiring against Adorbs but i found that a lot less likely than it just being some combination inside yours. Your theatre this game has been really fake. From you and Isis' arguing and Tommy's scriptedish sounding reactions. I know that's not inherently scummy, you could have been doing it as some sort of town gambit, but it doesn't make me townread you either.

Auro's demonstrative efforts to do have visually townish reactions all game looks very theatrical and has such a jerky progression that I think it's really, really unlikely he's town. Unfortunately I'm starting to think Drew is more likely the partner than Tweet which makes this pretty much an L.

I think MT as scum would try to prevent her hood from self-voting. Thus the only scumteam that makes sense to me from hood 2 is Drew+Auro.

269 just still reads to me as a scumslip though - do I think Auro+drew could manipulate MT into townreading them? Yes. Do I think it's more likely than Isis+Tommy? Not at the moment.

God damn they're fucking geniuses if they planned all this out. They would have had to somehow predict or get lucky that turkey would self vote, cause otherwise I'd have just selfvoted after Drew went back on his suspicions. Probably

Drew went all hyper paranoid on me, and then Auro at the start of the game. Auro and I were like "Okay whatever let's just all townread each other and see how the other hoods react. Then, after maybe a week we self vote". Drew didn't even go along with it lol i really would expect more cohesion if they were scum AT LEAST

Drew has consistently seemed like he was right about to pull the trigger. Auro has been like "Okay sure just wait a sec". I've been like "Okay sure just wait a sec" I completely threw out bothering to suspect my partners cause i assumed we'd be the first hood to go down

Not to mention we've shared many real feeling passive aggressive interactions (esp early) around our various gambits. I think in the latter half we were getting along pretty great though, we still were assuming we were going down though. Ty for this detail. Based on this game's experience with them I don't think that's out of either of their scum play ranges. Considering I scumread Auro most in this game that team is just as likely IMO as Isis/Tommy. The one thing that concerns me is Isis' meta scumread on Auro, trying to figure out if that's genuine or manipulative.

There are quite a lot of small interactions in my hood that add up to just make it feel incredibly unlikely to me. I could try to relay them sometime I guess

I'm not sure. If it is the other hood, I don't know what combination it is, but there's scum equity in the way Auro/Morning have been treating each other, and equity in Drew's sudden turn from paranoiaing to asking superbowl to self-vote.

Isis and superbowl have put on a 6/10 performance if they're scum. I'm leaning towards the other hood atm at the moment.

I am confused by your first comment. How can I help it that Drew wants to self vote? I am the last person to talk to about convincing people to not do irrational things.

I do not feel like Isis is really scumhunting. I don't think I have seen her give a solid reason for any of her stances. I think her reasoning is fake (like the contents of her hood).

The reason i trusted my partners so heavily was because our plan was to stump ourselves and everybody was comfortable with that. However, right before you stumped, Drew seemed to begin softening his paranoia. It's not a lot. Just a small comment

is the order of my teams. Regarding Isis and superbowl, it's less about thinking their interactions are very genuine in my hood (other than the 40 page 1v1 obv obviously), and more about how I townlean both of them individually. Why do people find Isis scummy?

I don't see why you would go for stumping your own good day1 (day one, he was saying, like first decision of the game) when you had another hood you had identified as scummy in some way and it was three times as likely to be that hood.

It reads precisely like scum gambitting and if it's somehow not man do you deserve to join gobble on an L.

And the fact it's an exercise Drew and Auto both participated in and it's not altogether impossible to unilaterally participate in the anti-all-wincons Gambit alongside Tweet gives that hood sooo much more scum equity than the hood that exaggerated pagecount for reactions.

Oh misread that, I initially scum read them because they seemed to just immediately trust one another and I didn't fully get what there plan was in regards to their 'gambit'. As I thought about it, and I had threatened multiple times early on to self hammer to which Auro was perfectly ok with, and backed off wanting to self hammer because it still was a bit early and I couldn't see scum being perfectly fine with me doing it(I even said at least once that I was prepared to do it right then). Had a little back and forth with Auro(some paranoia was still there, but started to think my issues I was having with him were posting style. I was coming around on them as town so I wanted to focus more on the other hoods, and specifically the player I have the most experience with, Turkey. I mentioned how he seemed off and wanted to put some pressure on him to give me a better read one way or another, Morning even agreed to help. Felt pretty good about Turkey as town(and already felt pretty good as Adorable as town as well)..........then Turkey self hammers.

So then with me feeling mainly good with my hood as all town, D2 starts. Now, I had another game just end that angered the hell out of me(specifically one player), I even posted in the hood how I was ready to crack skulls in this game, that's when my little interaction with Tommy happened. I had said that no one was coercing me to not self vote, Auro especially was fine with it, but Tommy's response wsas like he didn't even read what I said and tried to act like I was being manipulated by my hood mates. I didn't see any town motivation there, and coupled with my trusting of my hood mates even more I posted in the hood that my paranoia of them was all but gone. This has been solidified by Isis saying I am doing scummy things but not actually explaining, even when directly asked, what said scummy things are.

I guess I could have elaborated earlier lol.

I thought Drew's early paranoia of us was irrational. Auro and I were 100% solid on us being the first death, and Drew did not pretend like he was ever trusting of us. Auro and I stopped bothering trying to convince Drew we were town. If Drew is town, it makes sense that he can't really expect us two to be scum at this point. We called that it was Isis' hood really early and even through further evaluation of gobbles' hood that still stood. All that was missing was Drew self voting

I swear i would've self voted had we gotten near the end of the deadline and Drew was suddenly like "Nah I trust you guys now". AND EVEN THEN it makes sense that town!Drew would trust us after threatening to kill us for so long. But I still would've self voted because I felt pretty sure we were gonna win after forcing Isis' hood to stump

Idk. Drew has spent a lot of time defending Auro recently whereas i dont really know what I should say now. Is it possible Drew/Auro made up all their interactions?

Drew's early paranoia felt very unreasonable to Auro and I. I think the very first post i made about our hood, Drew called me out for twisting our interactions. Auro brought up numbers and Drew scumread that too. Auro was like "Don't just self vote, make it a show first!" and Drew was just confused

Drew was also kinda ruining our fun gambit and Auro seemed genuinely frustrated about it. Drew said he was starting to get it, but later on he said he didnt see how it helped, Auro pointed out that he said earlier he was getting it, and Drew was like "I stil dont see how this helps town". We were getting kinda annoyed with each other and i find that is probably harder to fake than whatever interactions happened in the Isis hood

Next up Drew is like "I wanna self vote, but I also scumread Turkey" and Auro is like "Nah this is town turkey because bla bla" and we do the Turkey pressure gambit and Drew decides gobble is town.

So if Drew/Auro are scum, they're done for since all three of us agree the gobble hood is town and we all want to die then make Isis' hood die

Drew hints he might be turning around on us since we shouldnt assume what he's thinking in regards to our hood

I mean, what was the plan after Drew says gobbles hood is town? All three of us agreed that gobbles hood is town, and all three agree our hood is safe, since of course Drew saw neither of us gived a damn if he self voted. If we force Isis' hood to die without killing ourselves, our plan was always to die first, but now were gonna go back on our gobble hood townread and push them too? Us being tunneled on you makes me less suspicious actually. Your hood was more vague in who they suspected more as far as I can tell. Mine consistently wanted yours and trusted ourselves under the pretense of agreeing to die first. Had we gotten your hood killed first, that would have reflected terribly on us cause they'd have to backpedal on townreading gobbles hood AND we have to explain why we didnt go along with killing ourselves

The hoods aren't a hivemind - each of us want different things. Your interests all lining up for nearly 100% of this game is a little bit sus.

But as far as the second part of that, Gobbles' stump takes away the need for any type of progression to occur. If our hood had stumped, Drew and Auro have to find some way to progress to Turkey's hood. If gobbles stumps, then we're where we are right now. Do you think they would not go for this risk/reward?

Drew and Auro have polar opposites more or less on everything up till now. I have been with Auro on most things. So if you're talking about Auro and I buddying, it doesnt concern me too much -- I felt Adorable towntold pretty good (didnt think she faked the slip) and I liked gobbles entrance. I thought Drew was being unreasonable so we tried to get him to wait and in return we all gambit townreading each other hard. Drew didnt play along though because he didnt get it

Townreading your own hood and an adjacent hood in the hopes they randomly self vote or else you lose the game is probably a pretty low success rate gambit. id be surprised if that went just how they drew it up.

I can't really say much to that. I'd say in that game i did a lot of going out of my way to overexplain my reads (like the early reads lists, or the late wallposts). But i did that in a lot of my earlier town games on the site too. Hm.

Either way this game i haven't felt the pressure to explain myself as much since A.) i first thought we were gonna die first so really i just was working it out with my hoodmates whom i treated as conf town and B.) now I am just giving you guys as much information as possible to get the decision right.
