As town it would be just a guess and seeing what their reaction would be to try and gain information would be my guess. But as scum you would vote them knowing they are town and to start to lower the numbers?

good stuff. now all you need to do is work out which of these things you think is most likely and you will have formed a read.

you can then share that read with the rest of the game, maybe even make a vote in accordance with what you think.

and thus these random votes we've made have turned into something meaningful. RVS is over and the rest of the game begins.

I feel like it's pretty clear that the reason Porkens asked the question is to launch into a push of some sort. I know this because Porkens voted in the same post.

i guess if you weren't able to deduct that reason out yourself then there's some value in asking your question. I'm giving you credit for deduction skills that are at least a little bit better than than having watched you play a game.

so then I look at how you asked the question, as you said yourself mostly in jest. By doing that you downplay the importance or seriousness of the push that Porkens is about to launch into before it even happens. And you can see just by looking at Redados's posts that a reasonably serious answer was given in post 21, but then by post 28 he's basically dodging Porkens follow up by continuing on your joke.

so i overall i feel like at best you asked the most softball of questions without really thinking about it, and at the worst you sabotaged Porkens attempt to make a read. those things lean mafia indicative to me.

alright so four hours in we are on page 3. That's great because activity is generally better for a game than non activity. but I want to reign in these posts that are suggesting that anyone who is not here yet has done anything wrong.

For the most part this site operates on deadlines that last from 1 to 2 weeks and prod ranges are 36 to 48 hours. The idea is that you can have a life where you sleep for 8 hours a day, work for 8 hours a day and aren't punished for not checking into the site over that time. Games with shorter deadlines and higher activity standards exist on this site and off, but while we're here in the newbie queue lets be tolerant of everyone who meets the 36 hour requirement to not be prodded.

Actually now that I think about it. Why did you feel the need to defend me? Surely I could have done it myself when I got here were it necessary?

i didn't actual set out to defend anyone, moreso convey to the newbies what the general activity expectations are on this site.

my response to shellyc continuing on down that road was really more focused on pushing her then defending you.

but if you're going to come in here and RVS vote me at a point where the rest of the game has started to move on, I'm not going to miss the chance to at least poke fun at you for it.

To answer Micc in post 71, I play real-time chat mafia and still don't really have a definition of "lurking" here. He hasn't posted for 5 hours and that is my definition, though I've unvoted. Micc seems to be pocketing T-Bone in post 74.

initial impressions:

shellyc - I'm a little put off that the majority of shelly's pushes have been about activity, and she somehow hasn't noticed me not being here for like three days? Other pushes such as against minimegabyte for OMGUS and "third vote on a wagon" as a tell straight out of the wiki are indications she's new to forum mafia. leaning town on the effort to make reads even though I don't think there's enough depth towards her reads being accurate.

N0bleNoob - I think that "player is controlling the narrative by making all the pushes" is a thought that comes from newbie scum more often than town. taking the initiative to push porkens is a good thought, but the execution was a little weak, made it feel like not a real push.

MiniMegabyte - in 172 minimegabyte does kinda misrepresent her contributions to the game. I'd say shelly's accusation of "mainly" posting non-game advancing content is more accurate than mini's "2 out of 10". The shelly vote and unvote really does feel like OMGUS. There's not really any other explanation or scumhunting going on there that I see.

ItalianoVD - feels pretty town. the unsureness about SE's in particular feels genuine. also thought his reaction to my push out of RVS was good. 123 is a thought from someone who is legitimately scum hunting.

Redados - didn't really think the italiano push he made was justified, but like the way he's gone about engaging about that read.

GeniusGamer - really not very memorable, even going back now to look at his ISO. I'll have to come back to this later for the sake of finishing this post

Porkens - little suspicious here because I think if porkens was scum his plan would involve coming out firing with the pushes as he has here. I have enough respect for his town game that I'd rather let him find a read and engage from there.

T-Bone - i think the page 3 RVS vote was kinda suspect, and sitting on it until page 10 is even more so. i think even if he's got a scum read on me here he hasn't gone about pursuing it in a town like manor, or done mush else in a town like manor.

TL;DR: My strongest read is on MiniMegabyte, who I think is scum because of a lack of game-advancing content. I also need to learn to condense my findings to a reasonable size.

Sorry to all for my replace out. My move from night shift to days at work got suddenly pushed up a few weeks right when the game started. Between training my coworker and adjusting my sleep schedule it was really hard to find time to play.
