@The other newbies - I saw none of you have games on here, how much offsite experience do you guys have? I've personally played for a year or two IRL and on a couple of other sites, but I'm not used to games longer than a couple of hours.

Not sure if there's anything to read into the SEs both voting other SEs... I'm going to go with probably not. Maybe it's a friendly poke between people that already know each other? Maybe they want to avoid pressuring the new players? Maybe I'm overthinking this? Spoilers: It's almost definitely the last one.

(someone shush me if I get too rambly - I usually play the equivalent of what I think this site calls Marathon games, so my posts are probably going to be more stream-of-consciousness waffles... Hopefully I won't burn out too quickly. If I'm going against some unwritten rules here I can *try* to organise myself into longer and more infrequent posts but I'm not making any promises.)

Apparently when you try to search for another keyword, it includes the previous keyword(s). So I searched for Andresvmb, got no results, typed your name in, and then it searched for posts with both of your names in, which of course only led here.

Me and ns have played together, yeah.

I come from a smallish site where everyone knows everyone so I guess I assumed it'd be the same here? Probably isn't that accurate, but it's good to know some people know each other in this game.

Early game wagons are fun, good way to get reactions from people on and off as well as the target. (also I'm kind of just being impatient and wanting *something* to happen that we can talk about - like I said, my usual games are a LOT more fast pace)

Putting aside the PR-hunting elements, what do you gain from voting someone who isn't here? The mod's stated that they're being replaced, so it's not like they're actively lurking or anything. It's better to put your vote somewhere where it'll actually make an impact.

Is it typically this difficult for anything to happen in a Newbie game? I guess so.

Anyway, our best course of action is probably to vote whoever has the least amount of posts until we get enough content to really judge players. So, who has yet to post here?

Well, a few players still aren't here. Content exponentially increases the more players we have. There's still plenty we can get started with now though.

Yeah, I can see why that might be a good scum hunting strategy in ToS. Why do *you* think this game might be different in that regard?

honestly, the only thing different about this game would be the vastly lowered number of power roles. i guess that creates an atmosphere of suspense around power roles, but then I don't feel bad exposing them in salem cause power roles and mafia behaviour overlaps a lot over there. i guess the replace feature would probably help, and I don't know if this is operating on a higher ELO than Salem and their savant towns.

Sure, there's some overlap between PR and Mafia behaviour wherever you are - neither of them want to die. I was thinking about this more from another direction - In ToS, there's about 10 minutes from signups to end of game, so people are usually going to only join the game if they'll be around for the whole thing in one block, meaning anyone not speaking is *actively* choosing to not speak. Here on the other hand, where games take place over multiple weeks, inactivity could just come down to losing interest or just a schedule that means they can't talk in the first 48 hours.

BTW we best keep clarity votes at 3, 2 before lethal. There's no trial in this game, which is honestly super damaging to my strat. There's exactly 2 more mafia. Any more votes for Clarity can and should be treated as Mafia trying to complete bandwagon.

I'm not getting lynched today. Anyway, if there's 2 mafia off me, wouldn't that make me town? Aren't you also assuming everyone on me is town?

Nah I was just curious if people wanted me to claim because I was at E-1 and that’s what you’re supposed to do at E-1

I really don't like this post - the 'what you're supposed to do' part feels really shady to me, and the whole wifomish "here's what I'll do if I'm scum" thing feels off - why would you go into this detail as town?

Yeah, I am not made for long games at all. I mean I'll try to pick up my activity... Maybe it'd be easier if people directed questions and things towards me? I'd probably be fine with direct responses, at least until I get back into the flow.

-Knowing that activity/engagement is a general towntell and thing you lack is one thing. ACTUALLY fixing it and ACTUALLY generating content quickly, coherently, and genuinely engaging based on that self-reflection knowledge is hard; harder for some than others.

@Clarity recognizing the pressure on me is NAI. It simply means that I can see that you all are more interested in hearing more from me. Unless you think you have me as certain Scum with however many posts I have so far.

Pointing out the pressure on you and not doing anything about it makes you more of a scum lean for me - I personally would much rather wait for you to properly respond instead of a quick 'oh yeah i'll do it later'.

Sorry, must have missed that. Bella is mostly from her tone during the early game. Bulge I'm not too sure about - he's not as strong a read as some of the others, and I'll re-evaluate his slot when I get chance to properly read tomorrow morning.

The mini-duel between them feels towny from its... mostly pointlessness. I guess would be the best way to describe it? Not really. I'm not entirely sure what I'm thinking here.

I picked it off this post -- Clarity had the full indestructible energy of someone who knows they're a confirmable town power role. I legitimately forgot about the rolecop for a moment.

Nah, I'm always like this - turns out that not caring much about wagons and ignoring pressure is a good strategy for quick chat based games where very few people read isos. It's a shame I wasn't able to keep going here, but glad the game went well after I subbed out might come back to try again at some point but I really think that this kind of slow game isn't for me.

Third, there’s a touch more nuance here because we don’t want to hamstring ourselves by Outting prs- only scum want to hunt for them. There’s one other role that also would want to but I’ll touch on that either post-massclaim or endgame.
