Bat Fact #01:
The Bracken Bat Cave, located in Comal County, Texas, is home to the largest colony of bats in the world.
Every year in March or April, an estimated 20 million Mexican free-tailed bats fly as far as 1,000 miles from Mexico to roost there.
Bat Fact #02:
With wingspans of up to five feet, the giant golden-crowned flying fox native to the Phillipines is the world's largest bat species.
The world's smallest bat, Kitti's Hog-Nosed Bat (or the "Bumblebee Bat") of Thailand, is smaller than a thumbnail and lighter than a penny!
Bat Fact #03
Kitti's hog-hosed bat, also known as the bumblebee bat (pictured above) is not only the smallest bat, but is also the world's smallest mammal.
They are named after Kitti Thonglongya, a Thai zoologist, who discovered them in 1973.
Bat Fact #04:
Seventy percent of all bats consume insects and small bugs for food. The remaining thirty percent live off of fruit.
Bat Fact #05:
While sometimes mistaken for rats, bats are absolutely, positively,
Bat Fact #06:
Bats are separated by two main types: microbats and megabats. The majority are microbats which live in caves and eat insects like moths and moquitos.
The vampire bat is the only species of microbat with a distinctly different diet, preferring instead to consume the blood of cattle and horses.
Megabats, on the other hand, live in the tropics and eat fruit, nectar, and pollen. Their eyes are much larger and they have a highly developed sense of smell, however, they cannot echolocate.
Bat Fact #07:
Bats are generally not blind, despite what the saying "blind as a bat" would have you believe.
While they primarily use echolocation as their means for locating prey, their eyes are attuned to low-lighting conditions and are still useful for hunting.
Bat Fact #08:
Over 300 species of fruit depend on bats for pollination. Without bats, we wouldn't have mangoes, bananas, and guavas. They also help spread the seeds for nuts, figs, and cacao (used in chocolate).
Bat Fact #09:
The Mexican free-tailed bat is by far the fastest mammal on earth, clocking in at flying speeds of over 100 mph.
Bat Fact #10:
The longest-living bat on record lived for 41 years. While it is said that smaller animals generally have shorter lifespans, bats ignore that rule and instead live for a relatively long timespan.
Bat Fact #11:
Bats are classified as belonging to the animal order chiroptera (Greek for "hand wing").
They are named for their four long fingers and thumb, each of which are connected to the next by a thin layer of skin.
Bat Fact #12:
Vampire bats don't actually suck out the blood from their prey-- instead, they make a puncture hole with their teeth and lap up the blood with their tongue. (人>ω<)
It is believed that vampire bats evolved to be able to consume blood for sustenance due to a scarcity of their regular food source.
Bat Fact #13:
Bats are the greatest predators of night-flying insects.
A single bat can eat between 600 and 1,000 bugs in only an hour.
Bat Fact #14:
Bats emit other sounds other than just their ultrasonic echolocation noises. Some species are known to purr, click, and buzz before mating. Certain North American microbats vibrate when at rest and content.
Bat Fact #15:
Observations by naturalists in the field seem to indicate that some flying foxes are capable of swimming! They may be forced to do this sometimes while flying long distances in an island environment.
Bat Fact #16:
For bats, the day is a time for rest, grooming, and lots of sleep.
When night comes around, they emerge from their cave in search of food and water for an hour or two, before returning back home to rest again. They may repeat this process once more before daybreak.
Bat Fact #17:
Bats are more closely related to humans than they are to mice. Seriously! Enough with the "bats are just flying rodents" thing. :(
Bat Fact #18:
The fringe-lipped bat uses a combination of echolocation and listening in to mating calls in order to catch and eat whole frogs!
Bat Fact #19:
In many European cultures, bats are associated with darkness, death, witchcraft, and malevolence. Native Americans identify the bat as a trickster.
On the other hand, bats are associated with happiness, joy, and good fortune in Chinese culture. Five bats are used to symbolize the "Five Blessings": longevity, wealth, health, love of virtue and peaceful death.
Bat Fact #20:
Most female bats give birth to a litter of a single pup only once a year. A bat pup may be as big as 40% of its mother weight at birth.
In many species, females give birth and raise their young together in maternity colonies and may assist each other in birthing.

On second thought I actually do really like the argument idea here. I probably wouldn't expect a scum Noraa and scum shellyc to fight each other in town's shoes. We'll see
Redados this is not ok. Every game I play with you, you come tell me ur gonna SR me bc of my playstyle. if uk that it's 100% biased and not reliable, then y tf r u bringing it up? In post 296, shellyc wrote:the way you flip on me concerns me a tiny bit
It means that in the 14 seconds between 295 and 296, you had this thought about that you're concerned about me being manipulated by scum, which is dependent on you being incredibly confident I'm town - which doesn't fit how you're now nullreading me. It's far more plausible that "concern" means you just don't like me flipping on you, and you're talking about my alignment.
I have no idea how Jester is always able to find this kind of stuff in the fray
My replaced out player posted about their replace-out prior to it, and the person replacing in for them started posting before they confirmed their role PM

Can you articulate on why your gut is saying she's town? Acknowledging that aggressiveness and unpredictability for her is at best NAI, and at worst scum-indicative, why?
Also, this is a personal request, but I would love to see a clown readslist from you. Nothing to do with alignments, just a tiered list ordering people from CLOWN to
not really a clown
. I'm gunning for top clown, so give me some tips if you have them.
I feel like scum!shelly would have tunneled harder, and been more opportunistic with joining new wagons rather than roaming around and shifting vote moderately frequently. I think one of the reasons that shelly scumreads joining wagons so heavily is because she loves to do it as scum.
***
Here are my clownreads:
Bugspray, Tayl0r, and Saudade —
clownn't
Bugspray didn't tolerate early clowning out of Jester, Tayl0r seems nice and level-headed, Saudade has been nice and reserved.
Noraa, Redados —
clown-lean
These two have been in two other games with me. Clowns follow me everywhere. What am I to expect when I see them, lurking after me among the throngs of plastered faces and colorful wigs? Surely, if they are not clowns, they are being influenced by them. I can only pray they will find their way to freedom from the circus—it is too late for me to safely save them.
Jester —
CLOWN
Self-voted day 1, like a buffoon. Has a Joker profile picture. When I hear him around the corner, I hear him first by the
slap-slap-slap
of his comically oversized shoes. Ocassionally, I must suppress a chuckle in his presence. I must not laugh. It is how they spread.
NorweiganboyEE —
CLOWN
Has clown-claimed. Even if he was lying, such goonery as a fakeclaim is an act of clownery in its own right. A recent clown, perhaps—we must destroy him before his power grows.
Shellyc —
CLOWN
Would absolutely start a fight for no reason other than to win it. There is a dark, sinful fire in her eyes. This is not a typical clown, not patient, manipulative, nor insidious. No, instead she is an old clown, a clown which has gone mad from the endless immortal hours that a clown inevitably endures. A clown who remembers older, darker, deeper gods. Who would spill blood to see it spilt, to feed the earth, to forestall cleansing apocalypse. I fear this clown, but she does not fear me.
interactions are literally the whole point of Mafia
(granted I don't know if this is an act by shelly but I'll give my thoughts anyway)
Pre-flip associations are bad because they're a massive waste of time if you are incorrect. You will have time on future days to discuss associations. They are at worst totally useless and at best just something that can be easily discussed later when you KNOW they will be useful, after the flip.
Additionally, it is
really
easy to hide behind pre-flip type analysis as scum. If I pretend like a townie is scum and do a fuckton of scumhunting revolving around their partner -- I sort of appear to be helping. But then, that player dies and all my "work" is destroyed. Oops! But I was trying my best to help, I swear! (・ω<)
...how exciting! I'm not sure they'll ever expect noraa v. shelly to be SvS. But they gotta survive as long as possible so it isn't suspicious the other doesnt get NKed.
They can probably do it. There are so many miselim opportunities!
In post 1710, duppin wrote:by the way i genuinely think the spam in this game has been a bit too much but perhaps thats just me, but keep in mind this is with 1 player being vl/a, 1 replacement and 1 slot still waiting to be replaced
This game makes me wish I could impose a post restriction like "Don't post more than 20 times per hour". You'd think that would never apply, but here we are.
In post 2177, davesaz wrote:Tayl0r's claim would be NAI in a vacuum because it's just as likely a scum role intended to mess stuff up. The informed claim of there being a mafia doc (is that Norwegian? posting in quick reply so can't check easily) isn't clearing precisely, but it does lower the chances it's a scum role. A devious game designer might have both scum roles (doc and rolestop) as a way to punish town for thinking it's a hard clear but that would imply lots of town power.
(・`ω´・)
wait no I didn't do that
I like low town power, especially low amounts of active power. The knowledge of the mafia doctor has the potential to be quite useful but also can be misused. The gunsmith only has 2 guilties and can't be 100%, more like 85% sure of his clears. The weak FN can kill themself and screw up if they don't crumb properly. The rolestopper has a 1-shot counter, and the commuter has to time his commutes.
Good thing I changed the town doctor to town rolestopper! I did not intend for the gunsmith to CC the town protective. In this case, they opted to anyway, but at least they do not believe the rolestopper is scum.

you can make up shit on the fly easy. I'm a gated even night town neapolitian. It's not hard. You were just so desperate for a kill that you were willing to say anything to get taylor dead.
Saying your informed of a mafia roleblocker is too sus if/when taylor flips green.
Why would scum!Norwee be so desperate for a kill on D1 that he just makes stuff up? Especially if it doesn't even hard CC tayl0r. Doesn't make much sense
if bussing was to get your partner elimed I’d never do it
its a matter of risk reward analysis and distancing
I believe the term you are thinking of is "Distancing", which is more of a catch-all term for interactions with your partner. Bussing is absolutely trying to get your partner killed. You're throwing them under the bus after all.

Haha I can link the game if you want, but don't want to embarrass you. Maybe don't throw stones at me from your glass house eh?
No idea what you're talking about re: me following stats instead of scumhunting. The stats were about me and you - I'm not pushing to eliminate either of us today, luckily for you.

In post 2509, Battle Mage wrote:could i make you a deal that if duppin flips town today, i promise you can flip me tomorrow?
I can agree to taking another look at Duppin if you flip town, not the other way around.
I'm actually conf-able town mate, so to save you some time: start looking, and get to voting.
oh my god all of my beautiful PRs have claimed
Except the least powerful one
This is tragic indeed.
My friendly neighbour is not some lame regular FN. My friendly neighbour is the main investigative in this setup! Capable of secretly confirming themself and grabbing guaranteed innocents as well as a guilty on death
My gunsmith is nerfed a fair amount. They only have two guilties and cannot be 100% sure of their innocents.
My rolestopper is the designated protective, bypassable once in the event a power role claims early.
All of the power!! Its dwindling away! The friendly neigbour is intended to be the king of the town, if only you use it to its fullest. If town plays optimally they can get quite a few results. Oh well
Scum is killing it, although I'm a bit dismayed by the spam the thread tactic. Noraa and shelly have a fuckton of interaction, it may seem impossible they are together.
when i designed this setup, I didnt account for every power role claiming D1. this is most unfortunate
Perhaps massclaim breaks some setups. not this one..
Let it be known I despise the idea of power roles having so much power they can just out d1 or d2 and coordinate. Powers are a nice thing to have, they give town some info to work off of.
however, they will not dictate my games, if I can help it.
Let's see, if the gunsmith and weak FN both out D1 and the rolestopper hides.. mafia gets to take their pick to murder for free. Town gets 1 inno result per night likely until the rolestopper outs.
If mafia gets rid of the FN first, then the gunsmith cannot even be certain his innocents are correct. however I made sure to inform him of this cause itd be bullshit to lose to a godfather mechanic
of course all that doesn't apply here cause rolestopper is out. uh oh
So are you the one trolling now? Why would that post make you more sure about Duppin being scum? I thought you claimed Noraa was like your strongest townread, does being told your read is wrong by your main townread even more resolute about your main scumread?
man I'm right, you're wrong, and I legit don't care about your funny games. :P
I do think Noraa is highly likely to be town, and no I don't trust her reads even slightly. I haven't seen her correctly read anyone. I've barely seen any evidence of her correctly interpretting even the most innocuous and non-AI things. It's like being in opposite world at times.

Wha huh?
BM just felt like claiming. You're missing that option
..
Mafia believes he's the vigilante now. As if I'd put a vigilante and a mafia doctor in the same setup! Too obvious -- and I mean, the vig is just gonna say "Wow this scummy player i shot didn't die let's eliminate them"
Which I guess outs the vig and costs an elim
But also it doesn't feel terribly elegant to me, unless maybe there were other roles that could potentially explain why the kill failed? I guess maybe vig thinks they got roleblocked but I doubt it

This is incorrect in my opinion, if someone tries their best then it is always on the burden of the readers to get it right, not the one being executed.
Of course if someone afks and posts one-liners every few days, then sure the burden can be on them. But otherwise, I think it is wrong to blame someone for
I think maybe the reason I feel so strongly about that is maybe because it's very unbeneficial to getting better as a player if you blame others for your miselims

This is pretty solid evidence that you are scum.
Well played to Noraa indeed!
I am a tad bit sad I am punishing scum for playing well. They did have a really good chance of finding BM out though, he crumbed that shit hard. Had they killed BM, this game likely could have been in the bag. I created the Strongman so a claimed investigative could be murdered on the spot, after all.
I still like the Weak Friendly Neighbour as a role -- but damn that is tragic that his top townread was scum and she dies for that
Hectic is commuting.
NorwegianboyEE gunsmiths duppin.
davesaz strongman kills NorwegianboyEE.
Hectic is commuting. -> Success, Hectic is untargetable
NorwegianboyEE gunsmiths duppin. -> Success, negative result
davesaz strongman kills NorwegianboyEE. -> Success, NorgwegianboyEE is dead
NorwegianboyEE has been shot down!

I think shelly crumbling the role and asking duppin if he is "the fucking tracker miller" were good moves.
The claim itself though. Night 3 Tracker? What a weak role if I were to actually make it. You can 50% clear someone if there's 2 scum, and 33% clear if there's 3. On a single night. What's my reasoning for adding such a role, I wonder?
Also a very likely story that she managed to track not only scum, but the exact player who did the n3 kill.
Although its weak enough that Hectic won't be like "Theres too much town power!" -- so theres that

Rolestopper or commuter should in theory have a chance of putting us back on odds. The tracker is kind of random and just another PR thrown in the mix. It doesn't make sense setup-wise, it's just thrown in there.
In post 3837, PlusJOYED wrote:Reason being, is that I think commuter even if 2 shot is too much protection. assuming maf get a day 1 town elim, they enter n1 with 3 maf and 9 townies to pick from.
with roleblocker and commuter, they have a 2/9 chance to miss their first NK. if rolestopper and commuter survive, which they should, the chance of getting a kill broken gets worse over time. coupled with how late this commuter claim is, I get the suspicion that this may be a way to end up with a shelly mislim from duppin/hectic scumteam. its also a convient reason for hectic to obvtown and live so long.
This is intentional.
You see, one of the townies may suicide. This costs town an elimination. Good play by commuter or rolestopper rewards town with getting that elimination back.
Night 3 Tracker is incredibly random for a setup that has been pretty deliberate thus far. The Informed Gunsmith is my idea of a balanced investigative
