Mysterium has been described as "Cluedo via Dixit". In this game most of the players are mediums, who attempt to contact the ghost of the victim. The ghost can silently send each player visions in the form of cards to indicate the murderer, location and weapon. The mediums will then guess on who they think it is, to which the ghost can knock once for yes and twice for no. But there is a twist, only one medium receives the clues for the correct murderer and in the final round the ghost gets one last chance to send visions, hoping to get all the mediums to agree on whodunnit.

Unfortunately for you, communication with dead players is not a Normal mechanic, but feel free to talk to your dead compatriots and spectating mediums here.

I will be running a mostly unspoiled dead thread. If you are spoiled some way from your time in life, place such content behind the appropriate tags, or not at all.

Each night you may discuss amongst yourselves and choose a player, I'll reveal that players role pm to you (with spoilerly details redacted, of course).

Once you are dead please don't post in the game thread or any PTs any more, even a BAH post. You are free to keep making notes in a notes thread.

I was excited to see Catan mentioned so early. Classic. Love catan!

I'm hoping to answer pooky's questions at the top of the next page with a vote count (maybe instead of flavour), but Skull for the design, Cosmic Encounter for fun and replayability, and A Feast for Odin for big box deeeeeep strategy feels

RQS comes from people wanting an alternative to RVS. I think I remember something about it being a newbscum tell along with/as part of the greeting tell.

LHF is a result of site meta accepting the people who look really scummy and are easy to elim are above rand town. Problem being even if you accept that people are scared to have them in MElo or ELo and want to policy elim them or "just in case" elim them before that. I believe finding the townread in LHF plus rand comes from scum.

I kinda wanna join a game, but I just have a really bad track record of my mental health surviving long enough to get through one. I wish I had abundant game energy like shelly does

I mean I don't think I'd ever be that sort of player. Everyone has there own style. But I'd love to just be up to play all the time like that. One game at a time as either alignment can be enough to get me completely flustered and as soon as I replace out I'm back to reading and enjoying the game like nothing happened. I love social deduction games but just haven't found a way to make it work with my mental health.

Obvtowning is as much about changing playstyle to suit what the playerlist expects of town as it is acting in a particular townish way. Both sides can do it with different motivations.

I don't know if site meta has ever been in the place of actually understanding that RC quote you linked but mafia is a social game played by humans so I doubt it. Until it is in that place town has a bunch of motivation to fit in, "survivalism is alignment indicative" be damned.

Also, there is nothing wrong about being town with good reads and a tendency to get mis-elimed, town needs a bunch of different types of players to function. I can get how it'd be frustrating though.

Scum can still win from this position in general, but I don't know if Ydrasse can. Pretty sure her lack of engagement and not understanding the mech part of this game is 100% genuine - maybe that sincerity can get her through one elim but I don't know

I think if we could play out this game loads of times it's -EV. In this specific game it worked a treat. Most of day 2 is entirely town wagons on town and town coherency shattered despite what should look like a great night 1. And part of WIFOM/having a scum range is not always making the optimal play.

The gambit (and no killing in most circumstances). I feel like no kill n1 when you know town probably has a bunch of investigative power can go really bad really quickly. But it's worked out and made an awesome game fmpov so well played.

I figured you might claim the rb as a town jk or no kill closer to endgame with the informed when designing it.
