If the player stretches it, hesitates, gets stubborn, then you know the player is scum. I'd be OK with a no-claim hammer, personally, but it's viewed with great suspicion so rarely done. Usually delayed claims are fake anyway.

Once, a long long time ago, when you were still a glimmer in your father's eye, I had mercy on a player who brought up a detailed personal sob story. This player is still on the site. The story was completely false, and the player was scum. She argue that as scum, you use anything you can to your advantage.

Then I started to notice that players that talk about out-of-game topics, bring up sad excuses etc., definitely lean scum and I always give them flak.

I have never once saw a town tell and told myself "hey this could be fake" because then what's the point of trying to read players? The most important part of the game is finding your fellow townies.

It's also quite scumvenient when a player drops a town tell, to just yell "FAKE NEWS!!!!" If I ever do that in a game you'll know I'm scum.
