I genuinely think Noraa is hilariously doomed town. This was really kind of like, uhh, shit I don't know. Dropping a compact SUV on a kitten? It's just an overwhelmingly anti-Noraa game in a lot of ways, because I'm seeing an eager and experienced town out for blood and Noraa just sort of plays Mafia the way I browse for groceries. This matchup always ends in Noraa going down. There is no survival possible for Noraa in this player list, regardless of alignment.

My town read is based on stuff I can't /really/ convince anyone with, so why am I bothering to bring it up again?

Honestly, I just sort of started typing and then I imagined Noraa as an unspeakably adorable cartoon cat staring up with big watery eyes at a cartoon anvil the size of a small house falling towards her with the words "Death Curse Mafia Game" slapped on the side in big red block letters and I knew I had to share with the class.

And yeah, popcorn type mafia games are always hard for scum due to the inability to influence the game without repercussion. In normal games you push miselims and shrug and go welp when they flip. Here, great chance to get shot in the face and 1v1'd.

Almost the only way you CAN play is by going at least a little aggro, IMO. Slowly sidestepping onto a wagon will almost always get you caught because town looks for precisely that in these scenarios. Given the cooldown time of the curses (2 days + existing timer) if your push on person X looks legit then town will take your side and try to talk the miselim out of shooting you. It's a knife's edge to walk, to be sure.

Scum took very little risk assuming Noraa!scum. LLD had already backed off Noraa and reset. She'd been wrong on hopkirk, too. There was no greater chance she was going to scroll Noraa than anyone else on her scumlist at that point and she'd (LLD) have to die sooner or later. Leaving LLD alive for any length of time was untenable; what if she came back and started eating scum again? Clearing Noraa based off this was, at best, wifom-y nonsense.

Of everyone in this playerlist, I absolutely see him being the one going on about Queen Noraa then shooting her in the face with a last minute galaxy brain solve. Or at least higher than whatever level of brain let her into conf-town status. That alone was town's worst play this game.

Yeah, agreed on Noraa-locktown being a crap play. Honestly, I just locktowned her early because I was getting those gutpings. I never really updated because I trusted in her later game abilities as town and distrusted her later game play as scum, and when I had my shot I /had/ to hit red and I had to try and set things up for a town win in the endgame, so I couldn't take a Noraa (or more likely at that stage, a MURDERCAT) gamble and I thought my best bets were to misdirect and trust in town collapse under mechanical pressure rather than telling the townbloc to disperse and trust in them listening.

I was worried about Gloria forcing a townbloc to stick together, I was worried the scum would hit keystone townies like UNOwen (fool I am there), I was worried about town hitting LHF in the endgame when they needed to galaxy brain. I thought that just spilling anxiety would have made my message look like trash, so I projected confidence in a plan I thought would kill the townbloc in the end by demoralizing everyone and causing panic and in-fighting.

Well, that was a mistake and I definitely misread the town. I should have hammered the UNOwen Town thing in harder, I should have left more doubt in the rest of the townbloc, I should have more loudly and aggressively pushed my deepwolf concerns instead of trying to force town to break apart in the endgame, I should have done a whole bunch of things. I thought I had a different amount and variety of influence and sway than I did, and I thought the town was easier to manipulate emotionally than it was. (Really, in hindsight, the only players I could have banked on getting hyperemotional were Gloria and Tayl0r. Tayl0r went down fast, and Gloria was too optimistic in the end. I misjudged Bell, Pooky and MURDER as being susceptible to that kind of manipulation for varying and apparently incorrect reasons.)

Lessons learned. I'd like to try this setup again sometime.

You know, I really enjoyed watching you play. I'll be running a setup soonish (probably in a couple weeks) that you'd probably find interesting. Popcorn Mafia, but rebalanced to be less punishing for scum. Can send you a PM when it goes into signups/pre-ins if you like?
