call it a stretch if you want that's what I do to make reads. I called someone lock scum in a game koba and I finished on this site just barely based on their entry post. And they were scum

Good for you? I mean I believe in track records once I’ve played with someone like >10 times and they are consistently right. Otherwise, you can get lucky.

What I’ll say is - chances are Koba is actually Town here. They’re somewhat defending me but not really and they’re maintaining their paranoia about my slot. I would say those are all good indicators. The situation is there for someone to try and white knight me and earn my trust, and Koba hasn’t tried to exploit that situation. So take that for what it’s worth.

This is interesting, because frankly I kind of agree. It’s tough to be sure about bugspray, but I haven’t been offended by anything they’ve posted.
One thing about Koba - they seem to have made a concerted effort not to stand out as much. And that’s a bit new. They had a post where they openly say that they want others to start fights, and if nothing happens then they would. Koba not running into a lot of trouble or pissing people off I am definitely not used to.

For example, I made the point that geraintm plays like Jim is describing here (though I also made the point that there’s some additional nuance, which explains my Negative Lean). Anyway, this strikes me as Towny frustration about not being able to read a slot. Scum probably want to keep geraintm around a little longer - they’re so hard to read, that if they’re Town, it’s actually better and provides an opportunity for a mis-execution further down the road. That’s assumes that geraintm isn’t likely to be seen as a Town Leader in future days (which is probably not the worst assumption).

Like if I’m Scum, I want to make votes that get me the least amount of heat, or put me in the best position going forward. Using play style as an excuse I dislike because it is always well it’s not my fault type of a defense that comes after when it’s wrong. And it’s harder to pin players that do that.

I don’t think {Facebones, Egix96}, {nopoint, Cook/Egix96}, and {Koba, nopoint} are SvS. It’s hard to pinpoint geraintm but I do really think their logic is bad here, and the more obvious one I think is {Jim, Cook} is not SvS (mainly because of the cross-vote/almost death from before. If Cook flips Town, could Koba be White Knighting there? Maybe, but only if nopoint/Jim also flips Town. Otherwise it doesn’t work. I am leaning positively on Egix96 actually, and I admit I could have been wrong there. So, what does that say for my solve?

Besides, it didn’t even consider context at all. A flashwagon on a null slot is alright (Polaris). There’s nothing wrong about that. Or at least I didn’t think so. I was going back and ISO’ing Tris, and I find 660 to be strange. They had shaded Cook in 659, 577, and 306, and had been pressing them on something they thought Cook had been lying about (see 539), but then they ask Cook to vote with them onto Facebones? I did, however, like the progression between 688 and 705, but only because it was away from me and as a result of Cook voting for me. I don’t know if Tris is avoiding staying on Cook, but is happy to distance (the vote they put down on 705 did stay on for a whole day though), or if they were trying to get two competing wagons on Town. They’ve also been defending Egix a lot, and I have to say that I’ve been disagreeing with a lot of Egix’s takes (though don’t find Egix Scummy). This might be a blind spot of mine.

@Tris, can you give me an updated view of the game from your POV? And do you think between Cook/nopoint, nopoint is the better vote?

I guess the question I’m asking myself right now is: are the Scum more likely to have voted away from Cook (and onto Jim/Me), or did they stay away altogether? Or was Cook bussed? I’m assuming 3 Scum in this game, and I have to think that it’s more likely than not that at least 1 stayed away and/or didn’t bus the 2-Shot Roleblocker in the Team, which is somewhat powerful. Like clearly the Scum have an incentive here not to want to have Cook executed. If Cook had flipped Goon, that’s a different story. So that’s what my instincts are telling me right.

This is why Koba and Egix immediately rise in rankings of potential Scum for me, since Koba was on both Jim and I, and Egix had a bad vote on Lotus around the Jim/Cook votes. I downgraded Tris when looking back because Tris also has a vote where she puts Jim over Cook to move them away from a tie (485). But the big positive for Tris there is that when Cook votes me to put me in a precarious position, Tris moves from me onto Cook. That was an important vote. So I would imagine Tris is potentially okay, but wrong about Egix (despite sitting on nopoint at the end of the day). So yeah, I think Egix voting for me after voting Lotus (and calling Cook too Scummy to be Scum in 491), and staying on me and having a clearly faulty POE make me not want to trust the slot. Frankly, Egix’s votes D1 are a collection of bad. I don’t know that Town goes

here, but I could be wrong. And the “re-evaluation” after Cook is guaranteed to flip just reads to me like Scum that doesn’t want to eat an execution for a completely wrong view of the game.

The reasons for geraintm I think are somewhat obvious from my POV now that they’ve come into today voting me. But I don’t want to get tunneled into geraintm and ignore some of the other warning signs.

This hurts to do, but I think it’s the right call. I just went through the ISO and I think there’s a moment there that Koba realizes that Cook is going to sink them, and they jump ship. It’s the same thing I’m criticizing Egix for. There’s too many arguments of how Cook is being SR’ed for play style, or so obviously Town (when they weren’t), and a consistent push onto Jim at a key time, that I can’t look away.

I don’t have any sense as to why you seem to think that the switch onto Cook is authentic. It happened when momentum was clearly moving against Cook. There’s a very clear self-interest there to avoid looking like you were against a Scum execution the whole time. If anything, I think Town!Koba probably persists with that Read until the end of the day, instead of flipping at a convenient time.
