I am not sure how yahoo plans to handle the extra NFL week so I will make this proposal if they are being dumb
I would like us to add somethings to that questionnaire!
The NFL season will be 18 weeks next year. How should we respond with 12 teams?
A. Change nothing. 4 teams of 12 go to playoffs. No one plays during week 17 or week 18
B. 6 of 12 go to playoffs. Playoffs basically last 3 weeks now over NFL week 15, 16, 17. No one plays during week 18
C. Comical Third Option?

A. Change nothing. Keep how we have schedules and playoffs currently. No one plays during week 17 or week 18
B. 4 of 10 go to playoffs. No divisions. Let yahoo handle regular season schedule however they want. No one should play during week 18

Another couple options for a 10-team league that probably seem weird (but I’ve seen them happen before!) would be:
1) Normal divisional schedule for 13 weeks, then four make the playoffs and two rounds of two-week playoff matchups (I know ESPN has this capability but not sure on Yahoo).
2) Same system as usual (6 making the playoffs) but extend the regular season by a week by having teams play the opposite division twice each instead of their own twice each.
Both of these skip Week 18 only.
For a 12-teamer I’m indifferent to the first two options you thought up. We’re so close to being able to say two divisions of six into a two-round playoff, but that’d force us to play Week 18 which is a hard pass.

im not a math guy so I'm a bit out of my depth when it comes to making a new schedule but my first thought is just do bye weeks

I'd prefer adding a bye week over not playing week 17 or 18, but I like the 2-week playoff option for a 10-team league

Could also do it for just the final in the 12-teamer, potentially (though it’s probably less likely that this is doable than doing it for the full playoffs)
