I had to go back and check who was bakslash. It doesn't look AI to me.
I do love meta but I've learned from lots of trial and error that half the time meta doesn't work on newbies. I might use some later on if I really can't figure out a read without it. But I don't think its very reliable on people who just joined the site. Their meta is like a baby(which grow/develop much faster than full on adults) If you get that comparison?

This was the first post that I had an issue with. It looks pretty simple upon first seeing it but I keep getting ominous feelings from it. I worry because it feels like it has ulterior motives to it. Calling out Bakslash is so random and specific given at this point in time there were multiple players who hadn't even posted. What makes you think bakslash is specifically avoiding? The part that worries me the most is the bolded part. I keep getting ominous feelings because it feels very .... idk tricky and slippery. Like I feel like its very simple and straightforward but it's also kind of saying "look I didn't just throw a random vote out to blend in. I must be town" and that level of the simplest manipulation really just makes me think noob scum.
I'm biased because noob scum me was 100% like that but I understand not all newbies are like me. But I just keep getting ominous feelings about this post. Idk this is one of my biggest issues with you atm. Lets talk this out please.

The progression from shock that I had three scum reads to being like "I figured I was one of them" read kind of self conscious and fake.
I'm more worried about the fake part since i guess I could see town thinking I was talking about them and brushing it off to not seem self conscious. I totally see that since I do that occasionally and subconsciously a lot of the time also.

To clarify, the fake part is kinda like the asking what my metric was which is not something I typically would expect town to ask there because idk it feels like covering up fakeness(the shock). I might be reading too much into this tbh.

I'm not trying to be aggressive. I just wanted to figure out if you were town. I was mostly just trying out Cabd's way of playing which can get a little condescending I'll admit. He does this thing where he picks up on who scum are really fast and then just hones in on them. I'm not to that level yet(I typically am unable to find scum that fast) but I'm trying to put a little bit of pressure on my biggest scum read who happens to be Roden. I didn't think I was overly aggressive because everything I mentioned was a legitimate concern. I was just asking questions. If I offended you in any way, I'm sorry that was not the intention.

My belief is that you can tell who scum are pretty early in the game. While RVS has typically been something that is hard to read, I've actually caught multiple scum in RVS. I'm expecting that I'll be able to catch at least one scum in RVS and the other later on but I don't think you can consider it "little evidence" when it is the small things that give scum away in the first place! I also don't come to reads very easily because I need people to agree with me to make sure I'm not just being dumb which happens pretty often.

I still think roden is being really defensive which is setting off alarm bells but I get that I might seem a bit aggressive. I'll lay off for now and just see what happens I guess.

I'm not 100% sure if one of my abilities works on newbie games but I'll put it here for people to discuss if they want to.
Typically, I am able to narrow down scum pools and say with 100% confidence that there is scum in [X,Y]
I am not sure entirely how this works but I've done it a decent amount of times and it is right 1/5 times.
My best way of explaining it is when I feel like someone's interactions with someone else feel unnatural. That typically is an indication of SvT.

the issue is that im not 100% certain and its a newbie game. It doesn't bother me that it's RVS as much as it bothers others but yeah. This is probably more directed at bulge and Italiano who have played with me before and seen this happen before too I think.

I think some parts of RVS can be sorted. A random vote smack dab at the beginning of RVS does not strike me as something that can be read into.

I just got out of a game where I told myself ita was town for the whole game and just refused to see him as scum which ultimately gave him a lot longer to live than he deserved to(since a lot of people SRed him and I just shut them all down). I also know he's known to be LHF and often gets elimmed early in games due to his "scummy play style" I put that in quotations because typically I find him pretty towny. Idk I think the fact that he's getting heat now might be town indicative but scum games aren't always the same every game around since playerlist really matters. I find that newbies tend to pay attention to a lot of things that non newbies don't pay attention to and its possible that they caught something that just flew over my head. Bulge do you have thoughts?

Strangematter, the reason why im asking bulge's thoughts is because I really care about what his reads are here. I tend to have trouble reading newbies because a lot of the times I find them VERY scummy for bad reasons that might be AI for more seasoned players but completely and utterly NAI for newbies. I also haven't played with bulge in a while so im very interested in hearing thoughts from him. Ita, I am still paranoid about from our last game together so I will be asking for bulges thoughts pretty often probably. SE posts in newbie games help me get a better perspective on things because often times newbies just confuse me a lot and SEs help bring me back like "It's ok noraa. that's normal for newbies. stop freaking out over nothing etc etc"

Then again RVS is for uberpointless questions so realistically I can't fault someone for that

It depends on the question. A lot of Italiano's questions have been very much pointless. But I do agree with you that leaving out thoughts isn't scum indicative. It's not that NAI but if it could be considered AI, it for sure is town indicative and not scum indicative. Town have more incentive to try to trick scum into their traps than scum have to not be completely transparent.

I ask questions the way I do because I not only want to just sort players I want to know and see how they think. I wanna know why people do the things they do or don't do the things they do. I want to know how players think and what's going on in their head, not just why they did something. I usually do this with RQS but sometimes I do it the way you see it here. It just depends on how I'm feeling. Some people think it's weird or suspicious but hey I'm not playing for them, I'm playing for myself and it works for me because I've caught plenty of scum/wolves that way, but it also helps me accurately pinpoint town players so finding scum is easier.

Condescending? It is very much reasonable to assume that a newer player will not have as much nuance as a more experienced player. I don’t give analysis when I ask questions, that’s why I ask questions. I also don’t assume things because it annoys me to no end when people do it to me so I ask questions so people can actually answer them.

Can you define "assuming things" because I feel like at least a whole big part of mafia is based on assuming things, even if the assumptions are more of educated guesses?

Educated guesses are fine but I’m talking about there being a couple interpretations of something (post, interaction, etc.) and it’s assumed only from one side of the coin, like when someone assumes you are scum when you’re not because of a post and then locks in and doesn’t see anything from a town perspective at all. Like I said it’s annoying and I hate when it’s done to me so I know it’s annoying for other people and so I try not to do it, but I will say it’s a null action from me since I do it as both alignments so don’t read into like it means anything read wise.

I'm not a fan of this post and I cannot nail down why. but here it is now, maybe for later.

However, #25 and #26 are reasonable concerns. But I won't rule out the possibility that scum could've jumped on it to look town either.

I just read over one of his scum games. this wasn't what it looked like. here he's more willing to trust people(TR them), he's following up on questions and not just mindlessly shipping or pushing a townie. above are some quotes that I found that show very townie thought process. I especially think quoting a post and not knowing what to say about it but posting anyways reads very genuine.

In his scum game, he feels a bit more erratic and pulls reads straight out of his ass is kinda the feeling that I get. And the reason I think that is because I ISOed him and I think that basically what happens when he is scum is he kinda that he just lurks and occasionally gives opinions until someone else starts a big wagon and then he jumps on with bad reasoning but no one pays much attention cuz they all think its gonna flip red. In ISO it looks particularly funny but Bulge is almost certainly town here.

Idk I am not sure what to think at this point like roden is making me feel bad but I still think that roden is just scum here. I have asked questions and constantly thought about how to sort roden. I have put my entire body and soul into trying to decipher the posts roden throws out. But he has constantly just said I was deathtunneling and had no reason to do so. His attitude is reason enough. I have consistently told myself "patience Noraa. patience." and it has gotten me nowhere. I try to just ignore roden for a couple seconds to calm down and just sort other people and he just runs around attacking me in every post. what is this horrible play? he calls me condescending and discredits every argument I make. even if they are wrong, this is not the way to approach me respectively in a game. I am trying to sort roden and asking questions is very normal. he has literally twisted every single thing I've said and I'm truly tired of it.
He said that I was being condescending by saying newbies didnt have as much nuance as SEs. Literally I have treated him respectfully and done everything just to sort him and its all totally and completely twisted in his posts. this is enough and he should seriously reflect on his town play if he is town here. every one of his posts has only made the game more difficult for me if he is town and he is dropping scum tells all over the place.
