Rules

Primary Ruleset

1. The full ruleset is located on this wiki page. You are heavily encouraged to read all of it.
2. We will be using the following sections of the ruleset: general rules, standard activity and deadline rules,
experimental activity and deadline rules
, and voting, fading, and twilight rules. I will note any deviations in the following ruleset.

Summary of General Rules

1.
Follow the golden rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

2. Follow
all
site rules especially
the ones against discussing ongoing games and threatening/demanding to replace out.

3. Do not discuss replacements, both in terms of the incoming and outgoing players.
4. Do not use the plain spoiler (blackout tag) by itself; use the spoiler= tag instead or combine it with colored text.
5. Be mindful of other users. In particular, try to spoiler animated GIFs, videos, and posts with multiple images.
6. Play to win the game and do not use provable randomness.
7.
Be sure to read your role pm.
Do not claim to have done otherwise; if you did not receive a role pm, please PM the moderator. This also includes reading who your teammates (as mafia or other groupscum) are if that was sent in a separate pm.
Any claims to have done otherwise will result in an immediate force-replacement.

8.
Please respect pronouns and avoid using the L-word.

9. Follow the spirit of the rules, not the letter.
10. The moderator reserves the right to update this ruleset as necessary.
11. This summary is not (and cannot) be all-inclusive. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the entire ruleset when you get the chance; things that are in bold are particularly important.

Summary of Deadline and Activity Rules

1. The full activity and deadline rules are located here. We will be using both the standard and experimental rules.
2. Day 1 lasts 14 days. Day 2 lasts 10 days. All other days last 7 days. Nights last 48 hours.
3. You must post at least once every 32 hours. The moderator will prod you if you do not.
4. If you have regular weekend V/LA, you must notify me each week. Please set V/LA tags in the user CP so I do not forget.
5. You are expected to post more than the bare minimum dictated by these rules.
6.
Day 1 has a minimum deadline of three (3) days. All other days have a minimum deadline of one (1) day. Votes will still count during this time period.
Rationale for this rule is given on the wiki page.
This is waived with five or fewer living players.

7. While you may double-post,
further posting in a row is heavily discouraged.
If you have something really important to say, do not let this discourage you from posting, but please try to be a bit more restrained.
8. Please be mindful of others and do not spam the thread.

Voting Rules

1. The thread has been setup to work with Thesp's votecounter. You may use either one for unofficial vote counts, and I will also be using them.
Please clearly mark any unofficial vote counts as such.

2. I will also be going back and manually counting votes. Thus, you may see two different vote count styles this game. Please do not be alarmed by this.
3. Abbreviations are allowed. Please let me know of any common abbreviations so that I can add them to the vote counter settings.

Setup-Specific Rules

1. The town in this game are called the Council of Calculasia, and the mafia are called Intuitionists.
2. The game has 10
Councillors
and 3
Intuitionists
.
3. The Intuitionists have multitasking by default.
4. All private topics have day talk by default.
5. While flavor doesn't necessarily correspond to alignment, scum have been offered additional fake claims and the ability to request ones (to match a specific role) during the game.
6. As stated in signups, this game is not role madness. At least one player has an effective role of Vanilla.
7. A sample role pm is posted below. It is confirmed that no one in the game has this role.
Spoiler: Real Number
Welcome, {Player}, to Mini Theme {#}: Battle of Calculasia!
You are a
Real Number
!

Most people are familiar with the set of real numbers. A simple description is that these are the numbers one can measure objects with. Much of Calculus relies on the real numbers to work; using a different set of numbers like the rationals would not result in a robust theory.

Abilities:

1. You possess no special abilities other than your vote and your voice.
2. Effectively, you are a
Vanilla
.
3. You win when all threats to the Council of Calculasia are eliminated and at least one Councillor is still alive.

Confirm by pm'ing me your alignment, flavor name, effective role, and any partners you may have.

Voting History:

This tracks who voted whom each day. Each line is formatted like Player A (2): Player B (2) --> Player C (3) where Player A is the person voting, player A votes player B in post #2, and player A votes player C in post #3. The use of ==> instead of --> indicates that the vote was not changed from its current target. People indented four spaces instead of two are replacements for a slot.

Key: * = F-1 Vote; + = Hammer Vote, $ = Self-Vote, ^ = After Hammer Vote.

The mystical land of Calculasia is a pleasant place, filled with lush vegetation and teeming with denizens of all shapes and forms. The land is divided into three main kingdoms by a fast-flowing river: Analysha, Geom, and Algebrea. In the center lies the capital of Calculasia, Rigoria, and it is a neutral land belonging to none of the three kingdoms. Instead, the Council of Calculasia resides there with representatives from all three kingdoms.

The job of the Council is an important one. Indeed, it is a great honor to serve on the Council. They set rules, negotiate treaties, and develop trade routes among the three kingdoms. Most importantly, the Council ensures that the three kingdoms are stable and that no foolishness abides within the lands. They examine every little detail of each kingdom's constitution and makes sure not a single error or gap exists.

Though the Council's influence and power is great, not everyone is happy with the current system. One particular group not satisfied with the current system is called the Intuitionists. "Why must everything be checked in such excruciating detail?" they ask. "Surely, one intuition is enough," they argue. The Council of course will have none of this. "That kind of thinking is dangerous and will lead to grievous casualties," responds the Council. Seeing as their thinking is blasphemous to the Council, the Council ruthlessly hunts for and imprisons anyone who espouses such ideology. Over time, the group known as the Intuitionists begins to fade. Their numbers dwindle from the Council's crusade against them.

Several decades later, a grand meeting is held in the capital, and dignitaries throughout the land are invited. The Intuitionists are but a distance memory, lost in the long history of Calculasia. All is going well until the sixth hour. The Chief Councillor is missing. The rest of the Council begins to search fervently for the Chief Councillor. An hour passes, and the Chief Councillor is nowhere to be seen. The remainder of the meeting is cancelled, all the dignitaries are sent home, and the search continues. After two more hours, the Chief Councillor is finally found, lying on the ground bleeding. "What happened?" ask the other Councillors. With her dying breath, the Chief Councillor lets out a brief response, "They called themselves Intuitionists!" She then collapses and stops moving.

Okay, so as much as I would like to start this immediately, I have some very important other work to do first, so we will be starting in the afternoon. I suspect around 4 or 5 PM EDT is when role pms will start to be sent. I thank everyone for their patience so far, and please be a patient a little longer.

All role pms are sent. The game will begin when I have 12/13 confirmations.

So far, I have 13/13 confirmations.

Day 1 begins:

The next day, you, the members of the council, hold a special meeting to discuss the previous day's happenings. Unbeknownst to you, a few additional people are present. It is an hour into the meeting that one of you notices the discrepancy. "Wait! There's thirteen of us though there should only be ten!" one of you shout. Indeed, this is the case: for each kingdom sends three representatives, the capital sends another, and a eleventh is chosen from all the lands to serve as the Chief Councillor.

The room suddenly becomes very dark, and a deep, booming voice begins to fill the room. "At long last, we will have our revenge! We, the Intuitionists, have suffered greatly at the hands of the Council, but no longer. Today, the Council shall be no more. You are trapped and have nowhere to hide!" As the voice stops speaking, sunlight begins to fill the room and sweep away the darkness. One of you rush to the nearby door only to find it securely locked from the outside. Slowly, each of you turn to look at your neighbor in the eyes. "Could they be one of them?" each of you wonder. Eventually, voices begin to fill the room as each of you gets over the initial period of shock. "You may think you have won, but we will surely find you!" one of you shouts, and the hunt begins.

It is a shame that they were unable to attend this meeting. I may be of demonic origin, but I have very little knowledge of the theory being graphed here. In any case, I hearby declare that all fadings shall herein be naned Axicution., as to not give the Institutionalists a competitive edge.

I did go off on a tangent, didn't I? Oh well, I suppose I should go back to calculating Sin, something which I'm oddly good at. Of cos, that is the only thing I'm good at.

Just a note, I am going to be moving in ~5 days so I will be VLA around that time. That plus the activity rules means I'm probably going to limit my posting more than usual at the start of the game to protect my sanity, but then I should be around more.

Ahh finally! I am finally free to brandish my extreme intelligence. The goal is to become part of the council yes? Hmm what better candidate then yours truly?
In post 18, T3 wrote:I don't know calculus I'm too young :o
No worries young one. Calculus in the simplest of terms is the branch of mathematics that deals with the finding and properties of derivatives and integrals of functions, by methods originally based on the summation of infinitesimal differences. The two main types are differential calculus and integral calculus.
