yep. It isnt pro town at all. You can out PR's and Vt's arent self confirmable so there is no point in claiming VT f1 as town cuz its smth scum can do aswell

the gist of my thinking is that while mafia can do it, they have no incentive to (especially in a site where it doesn't have any, or even negative benefit, which makes them more town than i thought)
it also fits in with their experimental newbie narrative which i have a positive bias for, since i'm doing the same but in more Subtle ways

my 2 cents on james (sorry grandpa), i was getting somewhat awkward/forced vibes from his early posting before the claim. my initial reaction to 40 was that i can see scum motivation behind it, specifically the "if I redact it later[...] feel free to hammer me" bit, but aside from it just being a particularly distracting shitpost, i cant find a reason for town to post this seriously. with 104 tho i'm thinking it could be townfuckery that's drawing my suspicion. i stand by the forced feel i was getting early on, but call him a light scumlean for me for now.

1. it gives the rest of town a better grasp on how you think during the real time interaction

2. scum is more likely to wait out as they have not thought of anything to say.

3. its more easier for you, dont give your self promises, i did this in my first town game and my first scum game, turned out usually in my town games, i never fulfil the promise of giving thoughts out later on but in my first scum, i did every single time because i wanted town to see i was trying etc.

im not tryna tell u how u should play, but in these specific circumstances, you may or may not just have reiterate info that was already said and continue to prolong discussion that doesn't progress town further.

the reads ive given out before ARENT concurrent like at all so the posts are good for me. besides, i see no reason to stop everything i'm doing and make my walls. i will still enjoy whatever there is that's really recent

i think it's a given that T3's game regardless of alignment will be filled with one liners and things that they won't expand on unless asked repeatedly. because of this i disagree with scumreading them for that only (i think some people are,), and it'll be for slightly different reasons

tonally, i think their earlygame looks really odd and something that i'd usually see from someone that doesn't know how to generate the information they need to plow through earlygame. they're just floating by and chucking a few names out, including the mod(?) pet peeve is people doing that [shoutout to james too,] since it's openly denying people information about yourself and who you are willing to align with, which means you likely have something to hide

I disagree. it might not be a Good way of playing scum, but we can't discount theories in the realm of, for example, what if vfp hates playing scum, has realized people in the newbie queue are unlikely to actually pile on against inactivity/noncontribution, and so decides to go with the easier playstyle for peace of mind? I'm talking out of my ass a little here, I only have 1 game with vfp, but my point is that in general, those kinds of possibilities and other irl factors should never be

fwiw, i believe tstbs is used only when not in comparison to someone's meta. because if u go to vfp's meta and analyze it, you can see that maybe town!vfp plays like this or scum!vfp plays like that. the only reason i called out hockey being tstbs is because their whole playstyle was this this game, and they are still continuting that playstyle. someone like vfp, in my perspective, cant really be tsbts because i have seen vfp play as a more active role as town. I also seen vfp play more active as scum, so imo, i see it more nai for vfp to play like this and should be read on other things

My understanding is that TSTBS is based around an understanding of site meta or a person's meta (what does this person / do people on this site like to do as scum? was their scummy action too blatant or done with a lack of self awareness?).

JamestheNames - I like them as town rn. I'm taking the claim at face value. They've had some fluff posts but I particularly like James' #304 - no nonsense, clear thought process.

I thought the timing of the claim didn't seem like it had a scum motive - near RVS stage, I imagine scum want to continue it for as long as possible to prevent the game opening up as quickly as it could.

GrandpaMo - In my notes, I thought their #305 on HockeyFan felt unnatural - possibly from scum. They know Hockey misinterpreted what TSTBS meant, yet this post looks like an unnatural overreaction, and coming from the guy who originally wanted to drop the discussion wrt James' #40 (see post #130), the whole interaction just gave me scum vibes, which conflicts with what I think about their pro-town actions in pushing people with questions and pressuring the inactive slots. Could Hockey have baited Grandpa with their misinterpretation? Maybe, but I still feel the response was unnatural. I want to have more time to think on Grandpa overall.

Uh, what else... they've reduced their pool of eliminations without giving reasonings, unless prompted, which we all expect from T3 at this point. TR'ing most of the cast and scumhunting less differs from the last two games I was in with them at least, where they were scum. I'm on the fence.

Looker - Nothing to add about them currently as they have yet to speak, but I thought StrangeMatter could have done better things with their time instead of asking more questions when the game needed answers - just felt like deflection. I don't take much stock on Rocky's tonal posts (the slot Strange replaced into) compared to in-game actions, and more needed to come from them to justify any sort of read IMO.

looker is def someone that you ask for more contributions. i think that their outlook on the game is pretty interesting and reads out if it came from a town POV, so i'm comfortable with leaning them as town already. this is of course taking into account their predecessors. so i'll disagree with this, i think we value the tone of posts slightly differently

The Bulge - Well, that slot just replaced out, but I'll talk about their previous posts - I think Hockey was the one who said they had good tonal posts earlier, which I agreed with (specifically, showing resistance to James' claim - in a 'trying-to-see-the-intent-behind-it' sort of way), but they haven't done enough with their vote or looked anywhere outside of VFP/James. The shift from them townreading Strange's slot due to Rocky's tone, to later admitting the slot could be scum, doesn't sit well with me considering the slot should have been null to begin with (maybe I'm being overly harsh here).

They pushed James where he didn't need to be pushed (IMO) which gives me town vibes. I took note that they have made great strides to interact with most of the players in the thread bar my slot. I do feel like they're trying to bait reactions and ask important questions to get a better picture of the game rather than scum blending in, so I'm somewhat confident calling them town for now - not as much as James, mind you (watch them be the team lmao).

He's acting like a more casual cows, perhaps because they've played together before. He's advancing his reads and the slot seems consistent from what i've read.

in my homesite claiming VT early comes from town many times more than scum so i'll townbin you and call it a day

i think the worst part of eventually knowing that looker was scum in dead chat was that it meant that rocky was also scum. i couldn't stomach that because they were a pretty large townread, not to mention that i already felt good about looker, lol

what are some ways to prevent a rushed d1 elim? i wanted to see if i could prevent it with something like 479, but not much came out of it
