I stayed up all night rereading the Toog game I mentioned from long ago, The Walking Dead: https://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.p ... 56&t=30368.

I read the whole game front to back, not just Toog's part in it (he died N2) because I'm a masochist.

There are a few players here who were also in the game: Cabd, DGB, GiF (I had forgotten you were the traitor!) so that was a blast from the past.

DGB's play has really mellowed.

Anyway, I can see much more clearly why Nacho townread Toog in that game.

And his play there doesn't look much like this game.

I'm retracting my softening of the scum read.

I still intend to take some time away from this game and hopefully let my temper chill. Seeing all the shit I put up with in that game and managed not to yell, scream and/or replace out really brings home how much less tolerance for slings and arrows I have these days.

And I was stuck with not enough scumreads and not enough stuff making sense. I had no conviction you were flipping scum and the essential lack of agency in the role was also acidic. So take me with a grain of salt. I feel like DGB and Toog might not be aligned. DGB's posts about him feels kinda performative to me.

I've been reading some recent toog scumgames today and 2 of the 3 I found are not normal-ish mechanics so maybe they're not that relevant. In one of the mystery box of silver potions games he initially focused on 3rd party hunting and floated the idea there might not be traditional antitown roles.

It's not quite the same thing as his focus on manatee's role, but it feels similar to me anyway.

I'm not finished reading/thinking, but DGB's recent posts started a thought chain.

If their second vote is on wagon, they gain a one-shot vigilante for that night
If their second vote is off wagon, that player dies at the end of the day along with the original elimination
If their second vote is on nobody, a random town-aligned player dies

Once they place their second vote, it can't be moved during that same day

I don't think a meta-ing of toog is really required for the alarm saxons to ring out here, and recent games have demonstrated that if anything, I didn't do enough to force my reads down throats even when I was less sure of them, as they were correct. And that I have a weakness for stuff like what cephtd pulled.

I found some stuff about how he thinks about and works out fake claims as scum.

Of his 3 recent scum games, two designs were about different mechanics and were fairly short.

I have played more games with Marci then anyone else on site (except T3 lol), and I generally start out talking directly with her in every game that we play in (as both alignments). And if felt extra weird, because I specifically talked her into playing this game with us, and she clearly immediately got the joke I was making, and played along in post 19

So it kind of felt like she got put on the spot by unwnd, and just needed something to say, and drew that out of a hat to be suspicious of vs a concern that she actually had.

i did have an actual concern about you though, i know im fairly easy to buddy so im so scared of that.

I mostly just been skimming through the day though and mostly just trying to focus on responding to people aiming things at me.

I gave some thought on this and decided that I shouldn't have even claimed I had a confirmable role. I'm going to not claim anything extra in regards to my role, and that some players just want blood early and will twist any statement to fill a narrative in their head. The only thing that might save me is my full claim, but I'm not giving it because if people can't realize they snap judged a comment or really think I'm so big a threat they want me out Day 1, then I'm not going to hinge survival on the role claim. In my opinion I've done nothing scummy, but obviously people see things differently. I'd rather just be eliminated in silence and hope town can win without my role.
