I think sparing Gamma is the incorrect move there

regardless

of his alignment - just having his alignment resolved and known is a tremendous help for the town in dissecting what actually went on during D1 and figuring out the interactions he made with the rest of the game.

It's essentially using a no-elim in standard Mountainous which doesn't make a lot of sense here since you don't even know how many eliminations will be controlled by the town at all!

I put townies in quotations because I don't think this would be so difficult if the team weren't involved. I mean, I guess that's obvious. My slot (Galron) was chosen by Gamma and the Stagehands intervened and killed off Pooky. Right now I am almost certain that Gamma would not chose to execute a (Townie) just to have his own team disagree and sabotage the event when he has control. Gamma is certifiably town for that alone. So what am I to think about the fact (Galron) was spared over Pooky? Not much, because nobody else seems to care. That leaves me a bit biased and feeling like I shouldn't compromise with people who can't see that Galron is not a big enough player (no offense) for Stagehands to waste one of their sabotages on. Were they afraid of clearing Gamma? Doesn't seem so because the sabotage itself already clears him in my mind.

This is like exactly the wrong kind of analysis to make if unwnd is town here.

Because why would scum redirect the execution of a townie, to kill another townie unless scum have control of the execution device? It's like giving Gamma-town another shot at the bucket for no reason whatsoever after

spinning the barrel randomizes the bullet placement and puts you back at the same level of knowledge.

For example if Dunn is town and Tooge is scum, Tooge could just put the bullet in position 2/4/6 and there is no way Dunn can shoot Tooge.

In that scenario it is better for town Dunn to spin the barrel before shooting Tooge.

I think of every turn you take as a chance to kill yourself.

Spinning the barrel is essentially a pass.

However shooting yourself is superior to spinning the barrel if you know there's not bullet in the first chamber.

If Dunn is scum and is planning on winning, I'd think he'd want to put the bullet in the 3rd chamber, shoot himself and pass the gun to Tooges.
Tooges can then either shoot Dunn, and kill himself or shoot himself and pass the gun to Dunn, and then Dunn will shoot Tooge.

I think it was purely a bunch of performative gibberish that Dunn typed out in the thread about how the bullet should be in the 3rd/4th chamber.

Mechanically if Tooge is scum and Dunn is town, Tooge's team would only but the bullet in the 2nd/4th/6th chambers so that Dunn has no chance of beating Tooge. Dunn is mechanically savvy enough to be aware of this. Instead he makes up some nonsense about "middle numbers" like lol what?

Now once Tooge spins, Dunn has not information, so he spins and punts back to Tooge.

I don't think having blow-ups is appropriate for the game anyway, so having it used as a strategy makes it feel icky. I guess that's a better way of describing what I find wrong about it.

I think if you draw a line where doing ___ as town is acceptable but doing the same thing as mafia is unacceptable, it just creates imbalances in the game.

I do recognize some players are unwilling to do certain things as mafia that they are willing to do as town but imo that is somewhat unfair for the players involved as it creates clears where there really should not be clears.
