My personal experience so far is that outside of Newbie games players tend to put in less effort into reads. After playing like 3-4 Newbies in which players, also other than myself, were efforting rather much and sticking strictly to using logic and reads to solve the game (or misleading town in the case of mafia-aligned players) I played Open 838 and was slightly disappointed. In post 20, butterchurn wrote:Personally, I know that I tend to be a bit more cavalier with my townreads as mafia, because everything that a confirmed town does looks towny, and you can easily just hand them out like candy. As town I'm more hesitant and paranoid. But I've seen that a lot of people on this site tend to have a... looser approach than what I'm used to, so I dunno. Still weirds me out, though.[REDACTED BY GAME MOD]
I think that's because Newbie games are meant to prepare you for what is supposed to be good mafia play and then, when you're past the learning phase, you get confronted with reality. Kinda like how school prepares you for a world that doesn't exist.
Please do not discuss ongoing games. I redacted a sentence in this post. ~ Koba- Greeting

I take it as not an RVS vote. Funny how it happened right after I spoke of reads being unsubstantiated.
I saw an opportunity to use this thread as my personal confession box and I took it. I don't think there's much discussion here, sinceIn post 30, Scorpious wrote:

I think that knowledge is important and might be relevant for me reading that slot later. My vote on them is still very much an RVS vote.In post 45, Hella Jeff wrote:

content-wise, i just wouldn't have come to the same conclusion so easily, but that's most likely a difference in perspective
If you think I’m stalling, then by all means, take the wheel and steer me away into another destination. I’m all ears, plus it’s not like I can’t go back either.- Greeting

but i do think those reads should be present, do you haves?Capo22from their three posts, but question me about wanting to have a meta read from a game where Cape90 had more than a hundred posts.
I don't form reads, not even gutreads until at least half of Day One and even then I'm usually not very confident about any of them. So the answer is nope.- Greeting

Noted, I might have just been seeing things. I found it unusual you jumped right into non-Newbie games past joining. Of course, there is no rule barring you from doing this, but I still think that's unusual. In post 63, Capo22 wrote:No idea who that is @Greeting- Greeting

And I say Day One might be useful. I used to believe that too, but MafiaScum games changed my mind. Given your rather distant join date, I'm rather surprised that you'd have such a take.In post 72, geraintm wrote:@ scorpious

What's even weirder is you saying that we should ignore you, in 67. No. For me, you're potential scum just like all players in this game other than myself.

your future meta read - a weak or completely inapplicable read when it won't be reasonable to have one
i've seen exceptional meta reads. in the first game i played, a player was convinced andante was scum through extensive reading of their town games
https://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.p ... #p13126770
i reserve my right to poop on people who are planning to pedal half-baked meta reads in the future. refer to 47The feel of this post tbh
Spoiler: boo
I'm actually quite critical of overreliance on meta, but it's better than nothing when starting to tackle the game Day One. And, since I played with that user before, I have analysed their behaviour before so I'd notice if something is different right away.
And I'd argue that sayingx is townbecause of two or three posts isn't very helpful. I've gotten absolutely no useful clues from these posts in any of my games like, ever. Why would I trust a read that was formed by looking at three posts, even if made by town?
Even if we use any reads we can find when considering associations, I think associations is, quite frankly, a deeply flawed and unreliable strategy to try early in Day One.- Greeting

I am saying that your lack of reaction to your random vote being put at E-2 makes you at least willing for this to go through. And thus, by being idle, youIn post 165, geraintm wrote: my vote was random. i didn't put you to 2 away from elimination. are you seriously saying i am suspicious because i knew a bunch of other people would all vote for you and i shouldn't have voted for you?aretaking a stance.
I could understand this still being a random vote if vote counts weren't being posted regularly. But in this game they are, at least so far, fairly regular and the mod aims to make them as attention-grabbing as possible by trying to put them on top of each page. So they're pretty hard to miss.- Greeting

It's a thing I sometimes do if I think is beneficial to town. But this time it really isn't. Sure, I've no power role so a loss of a VT wouldn't hurt that much, but I've paid close attention to the way this wagon went and it'll be hard to weed out potential scum from the naked votes thrown at me like dollars at a pole dancer. In post 199, Dwlee99 wrote:Do not hammer before claim but I really don't get the "I won't self-hammer" thing
