I played in a pyp a looooong time ago and the town used some big brain method to determine scum based on numbers. It was slightly different as we drafted two numbers. One of you big brains can probably figure it out although it may have required some pregaming. All I know is I felt like town had esp and got me dead just based on the number I picked.

i do say why i think it's town behavior: because i think that it's indicative of someone reading the thread and genuinely having their own thoughts. scum is "capable" of doing anything that town can do, of course: it's a question of probability, and my evaluation is that the probability that town asks that question is (even if slightly!) higher than that for scum. i didn't "shit on" my own read, i'm trying to be clear about the exact degree to which i think things and not overstate anything.

it feels like the criticism you're making of my read could be applied to basically any read ever. oh, you think that that action is towny because it's more likely to come from town? well, yeah, that's kinda how this game works.

I can see where you are coming from. I have a couple of points;

1. Scum can’t do anything town can do. Scum knows they are scum and have to “act towny” to not get eliminated. That’s an act. It’s very hard to “forget you are scum.” So in a way, every scum post is forced. Town has no such restriction.

2. It doesn’t explain every argument ever. You are saying that you think that behavior is towny, but you haven’t justified it in an acceptable way to establish that is town behavior. That’s the part of your argument I am attacking.

3. I don’t think you really want to get into “probability” here. Everyone is more probably town, so your feeling that is true doesn’t count for much.

Hokay you get some effort out of me:

1. Townchan. I thought some of the ate that junko employed felt town and I was starting to suspect rodan and rodan made a “case” on junko which I felt was pretty thin so I was feeling out junk hands. I also wanted to see if their tune changed at all if I stated a townread on them.

2. Defensive. I was accused of playing purely defense and “not scum hunting” so I was rationalizing what that was. To be honest, I e been down this post-hammer a road before…a few times. The thing is Rosana claim is very good. Maybe too good. He brought it up because he was “forced to” by my claim since the scum “basically knew his role” which, again, too big brain for me. I checked Penguin, he's a weak spot in my read range and he seemed like he was fairly influential D1. I figured either I'd catch a deep wolf or we would have a strong player conftown'd and around for a couple days. He came back as town.

I considered checking Gamma, but I felt confident in my read there. Checking NSG seemed pointless if she wasn't going to be around and I thought there was a chance she could be Vig'd anyway. Porkens would've been my second choice for a check, but I figured we could make them readable from vote pressure in the end. No one else felt like a notable enough choice for a Cop check at the time.
