Dairy mafia

each player is a dairy product with an expiration date. The player dies once she has expired.
Once a dairy product is "opened" (by claiming a role) that player will expire in two game days.

That's actually a very interesting concept.

Picnic at Hanging Rock Mafia

Day will end in 20 weeks, not before.

The idea is that no-one will sit through the whole thing.

Alternatively:
Clark and Dawe mafia
Everyone is a character being played by clark and dawe in one of their skits.

King Midas Mafia

Each player has the power to turn one person into gold (kill), but if they use this power, they cannot be protected, and the cop can only investigate people who have used their power, unless no one uses it on the first day, in which case they will be able to use it. King Midas (Mafia Godfather), Henchman 1 (Mafia Goon) and Henchman 2 (Mafia Roleblocker) all do not have this power, but collectively can lynch 2 people if there was no one day killed. If there was no one killed in the day, then the mafia must send each send their second choice separately. One person will send the first night choice. If a player is voted for twice or more by the mafia, that person is lynched. In other words, the mafia must have a majority agreement to lynch a second person, without talking. If someone was daykilled however, the mafia can talk, and only lynch one person.

That might be a good idea, Dean Harper. I seriously doubt it, but it might be. Unfortunately, I can't tell because of the supremely obfuscative fog of 'unless'es, 'in which case'es, and 'in other words'es.
I will fuck up your name and gender. Deal with it.

I can't mod yet, but...

Zombie Outbreak Mafia
: Cultish, with a night start. All vanilla townies can kill or protect each night, with a kill only going through if the attackers are more numerous than the defenders of any one player. Zombies at night can choose to kill or shamble about. Shambling about means they turn any townies killed by other means into zombies, and of course anyone killed by a zombie becomes one. Zombies act separately from one-another, and can't communicate specially (Though they do get a list of all zombified players).

In the event of a zombie-win, as opposed to it being outright victory/defeat, there's a scoreboard. Every player gets one point per night they remain alive, two points per fresh brain eaten (The brain divided among the zombies killing a player) and one point for each cold brain. (That is to say, brains eaten from corpses instead of living targets) Ten points as well divided up among all the survivors who are endgamed. At the beginning of each day all last night's corpses are cleaned up, (Immune to "Shamble Around" zombification) as are lynchee corpses.

The first zombie (Seems to me starting with two would be too much) would have a night option that means there have to be
more
protectors than attackers on his target to stop the kill, or grants him nightkill immunity for the night, but halves the brain-value he gets from any victims. Also strict deadlines on night phases. I'm imagining two or three pro-town power roles and two with unique win conditions for a 20-person game.

Why have "Unique Win Conditions" at all?

Otherwise, sounds pretty good. I'd play something like that.

By unique win-conditions, I just mean stock ones (perhaps with slight modifications), and more for variety than anything else. Besides, how many zombie movies do you see where all the survivors get along peachily? (Aside from assuming one-another are zombies, in this case...)

3 scum

Each day ends after exactly 4 real-life weeks, no more, no less. Plurality decides lynches. If 2 are tied, the first one to reach that point first is lynched.

Thursday Next (Lost in a Good Book) Mafia:

Thursday Next is on an investigation to find out who is stealing her memories and messing with conincidences around her. The town is trying to help her. The Mafia Roleblocker and Goon(s) are henchmen of the real threat. The doctor is Uncle Mycroft. The cop is Mr. Next. Roleblocker is Jack Schitt and the goons are both grammasites. The game will have various twists, including those involving Goliath corporation, and each death scene will have something to do with a high concentration of "coincidentalness" in the area (each person will die of a coincidence). These death scenes will have something to do with the events in the book, where Thursday encounters these concentrations.

Townie 1: Landon Park-Laine
Townie 2: Miss Havisham
Townie 3: Bowden Cable
Townie 4: Mrs. Nakajima
Townie 5: Cheshire Cat
Townie 6: Polly Next
Townie 7: Joffy Next

Each person will have a background story related to the book, and something to do with "bookjumping" can be implemented. If you have any questions, search "Thursday Next" in Wikipedia.

Claiming Ace Attorney (AKA Phoenix Wright) Mafia.

It's still in the early days of planning, but I thought I should sound out to see if there is interest.

I've been dreaming of a large theme based on the Diablo game series since I joined the site, but it seems that very few would be interested. I've recently been receiving inspiration for a Monty Python based large theme game and was wondering if that would get a much greater response.

Long term theme reserve/balloon floating:
Babylon 5 Mafia
(large theme)

The theme has been used once before, but the game in question was mod-abandoned before it could start.

/pre-in? :P

I've actually kicked this idea around before, but I've never really come up with a way to make a solid scumgroup that fits with the theme. Night Watch, I suppose?

Also, what are the rules/conventions on rerunning a theme that's been done before? I have an early draft for a BSG mafia I'd like to run someday, but I won't be large theme qualified for probably a year or so, and I know someone else has specific plans to run one soon. Should I just give up on it now, or is it worth hanging on to and slowly refining for some point in the future?

The Stranger Mafia

Based on the book The Stranger by Albert Camus, each player will get a role based on a character in the book, some with powers, and others with none. 13 players, 2-3 mafia, 1 sk, the rest town/power roles. This is just a suggestion for whoever wants to take it :D. have fun!

Amber Mafia

Players create alts to play with. These alts are all minor members of the court of Amber
Alts play in-character, and the reality of the alts is limited to the reality of the game.
Breaking character and Mafia jargon are strongly discouraged!

Many many quicktopic threads are used to represent the parallel worlds.

The main thread preresents Amber, where players do not have abilities, but outside of Amber (in the quicktopic threads) all characters will have abilities.

A team of moderator/players run NPC alts. These NPCs have votes.
