I kinda wanna say this post comes from scum who is aware Mastina is town and is trying to come up with reasons to justify reads rather then a town who is actually trying to sort Mastina. When I think of the types of games JJH tends to play I have a hard time seeing him not see the possibility of a scum gladiator even if he doesn't see the utility behind it directly.

It's just a really direct thought I guess rather then one of someone who is trying to critically think of player's alignments and why they could be wrong when they come up with conclusions I guess is what I am trying to say.

If I can use it as a cop, then yes. On a day we're on evens and we have good reason to know/suspect there won't be two deaths during the night, I'll use it.

Like, say you gladiate successfully-

Regardless of your alignment, outside of a scum targeting scum gambit, lynching the other player will always lynch town, and outside of a hindrance of an ability they will be town with a stronger PR than you. This does not confirm you as town on flip.
Lynching you either conftowns another player or gets us a scum lynch

A gladiator takes the fate of another player directly into your hands, and your hands alone, and assuming you win the gladiate, kills them.

It's the same reason I despise the doublevoter role. Being able to disproportionately decide the lynch candidate places a disproportionate amount of weight on ME, requiring that I be right. I am, in no world, a remotely competent scumhunter; as a consequence, I am disproportionately likely to kill town using that type of role.

The role is not town simply because it is a gladiator. It is town because there is no scum benefit whatsoever out of the mechanical applications of it. There's an argument that it can't even expect to be townread because I am evidently abnormal in thinking that this claim has a very high probability of being town.

I kinda just don't like how you took it at face value which is kinda the wolfy thing to do when approaching posts.
Like the role could have more depth, a JOAT ability, positive utility gained after using the gladiate or something I just can't think of off the top of my head. I think in the last game most of the scum were JOATs and it's not like I am expecting you to actually know that.
It's more that my expectation was to not take the claim at literal face value like the way you did.
