ok I'm a really bad person
basically I need to string together a decent hour+ at a PC to get a post and some updated rules together but my conceeerrrrnnnnn

the spy role is difficult to adapt to a forum environment
if we play with the full location list it turns into a game of "how much time can I be bothered spending on PoE" and if we use a shorter list it's a tricky balancing act stopping it from becoming too easy. (irl there's more of an air of subtlety; for some reason the forum environment tends to lend to people unintentionally trying to clear themselves via giving slightly too obvious responses)

at this point it's basically rand whether you ask the spy a question early and whether they can answer it vaguely but satisfactorily enough--if they do they can pretty well coast for a bit and spend a lot of time on PoE for the locations.

so my suggestions are basically: a shorter list of locations but ones that have more in common than the standard location sets (e.g. aquarium, beach, harbour, etc., etc.) or -- what's occurring to me today in particular -- we try this as a marathon format and see if that has any legs. :3

would anyone be keen to try and line up a marathon spyfall in the upcoming 24th-27th marathon weekend? or do I need to just be bold and put together a set of locations and see how it goes
