non-players can post with alts, yes -- the only restriction on non-players posting is that they may not post with a hydra shared with a player, since there's then no way to be 100% sure that the message was, indeed, posted by a non-player.

@mod: do alts count as individual people when posting in the thread? If so, can I post under alts I may or may not have access to?

from the rules,

"each player may only post in this thread using the account with which they have joined the game. if a player is part of a hydra with a non-player, that non-player may not post in this thread using that account."
