This game is not fun and there’s so much content still from everyone that the idea of trying to go through it all to get my head around the game in its entirety is just not a thing I’m willing to do

Probably the best route to take wrt that is to try to determine whether he'd fake something like that in the state the game was in a few days ago. It carries an obvious risk of the gamestate shifting to a more focused one which is likely to actually bring town together in lynching him.
