I was fighting with that boy all game, even in pre game. He was some sort of scum actively playing against me. I stand out a lot to him, so obviously he was trying to shut me down, especially in hindsight.

I took a drag from my pipe, feet up on my desk. I'd done a damn good day's detective work, and it was nice to rest on my laurels for a moment. Sometimes in this business, getting it right feels damn good. Not to mention, I'd gotten Vorkuta, Bad Detective Nero Cain and Menalque right as a cherry on top. I was pretty damn sure we'd be able to find something interesting looking back the old fashioned way for how folks might have given away their motivations the previous day. I was sure nefarious sources would continue to cast doubt on my credibility, of course. I wasn't stupid. But it all was a nice boost of confidence and a reminder that I could catch these sneaky types as well as anyone.
