basically the Amished Tell, the first thing scum does when they replace in is ISO themself and see how screwed they are by what predecessor said/did (also to check for any fake claims)

town would do that less, because they know they're town and whatever the person they replaced said was true and genuine regardless of scummy or not

then, a lot of scum think that the best way to cover this is to acknowledge it to come across as town

but then they're acknowledging their predecessor was scummy
