my guess for the scum sabotage is that they can make it so the chair is a death trap and kills the person who sits in it.

That sounds like scum couldn't be eliminated day one though. Kinda unfun

Presumably the death trap part would happen after the choose a person to eliminate part, and wouldn't overwrite it

That's not me agreeing with the post, I'm not sure scum would be able to sabotage in a way that is "get an extra kill" for balance reasons

I did not think anything of Pooky's and found Taly's townleaning.

Taly's allusions to potentially sharing motivation with me (where my motivation was to either get the power to make a unilateral mechanical decision or to get voted out of the game entirely) was wildly off base but I do not think it was done with the intent to sway me.

The events, sabotages of events, and the corresponding outcomes of the events are the only mechanical deciders of the game. Who we select will definitely matter, and the decisionmaking power within each event could be zero, could be only the players inside/outside of the events, or the game at large.

ie. Yes, we will gain advantage or cede advantages to the scumteam according to our decisionmaking in events.
