personally i think in that scenario if i have a teammate with a gun and a townie in the other spot i have them openwolf and just shoot the opponent with the first chambered shot because it still means town wastes a phase eliminating them

to be perfectly honest with you having scum openly reveal themself is pretty good. But I tried to mitigate that waste of a phase through scum's secret ability: use the gun to shoot anyone of your choice, then die yourself

Why scum didn't use that ability -- well, they were trying to win the duel legit i suppose!

I missed that "Put bullet in slot 1, shoot opponent" was such a strong strategy that you'd ignore the secret action in the case of the bulletproof glass getting put up though. Fortunately didnt happen.

I am probably going to instate a private communications rule in my future games that prohibits players from referencing private mod communications unless explicitly told otherwise.

that would allow me to be more detailed in my warnings and have more leniency to give them when I think it's necessary. As it is I worry too much about influencing the game but I let a toxic environment go

Maybe, but more importantly, scum doesn't get to kill the towniest player that they want to kill

Scum probably won't want to make a kill on lhf town, it might be a gamble to try and find town there first.

Alternatively, we can send 5 people across, (if we win at 4, great) and then everyone else let's the time run out so that the next even only has 5 people.

That's also risky for town, if town misunderstands the event. In any way, quick and sound reactions to unexpected events(e.g. watcher guilty results, cop results on unknown millers) are also a skill scum needs to have.
