for example, I thought it was unlikely scum chose both 8 and 9, but knowing SS always chooses 9 I may need to rethink this thought a little

How do people know which numbers others "always" choose? Asking for a friend :)

A lot of these people have played with each other before (i actually think i've played with almost everyone in this pl)

So the comment about "scum team has someone who knows the "always" numbers"... kinda seems more suspicious to me now not gonna lie, like, scum definitely talked about numbers/whatnot, I sat here, looked at how the heck you're supposed to play this, went "ehh sure 2" and moved on, I don't really see town caring too much about their number? idk but if you've played with them, didn't know about the always numbers... it just kinda shows at least you didn't go into some detailed analysis over who is choosing what... so it kinda makes me tr you.

The usual discussions that i'm familiar with are:
- should scum double up (usually the answer is no, wifom is not woth being forced down into the doubles)
- should scum pick an high number to guarantee getting in before the singles (conflicting, but i think its a good idea)
- and then once you're drafted what pr to take etc

Ok I’m just gonna rethjnk about this out loud then for a bit (I’m a very soc player this helps me sorry if it’s just clutter for y’all)

i mean the idea behind scum not picking 8 and 9

scum naturally don’t really want to seem too aligned I feel as a first order thing? and picking medium numbers that are literally right next to each other doesn’t seem like something scum subconsciously do

granted you could just think about it for a second and go “oh, there’s no reason townies would find it scummier for our picks if one of us flipped”

but it’s like a subconscious thing u feel, also I don’t thjnk scum empirically do this (pick one away) unless the numbers are really low and they’re going for the high vol strategy

and maybe there’s also the genuine possibility if you pick like 23 and 24 and no one else picks near that region that ppl go “LOL TOO COINCIDENTAL” and just lolvote idk mostly subconscious is what I felt

But knowing SS always picks 9 kind of like cements the first number already if he’s just gonna pick 9 again that it might be more reasonable for scum to decide they could pick 8 or 10 to go along with a similar strat - it seemed more likely than just picking two numbers out of thin air that they would be right next to each other

I thinkkk that’s reasonable and I no longer feel that 8 and 9 pickers are necessarily nonpartnery
