There are few better feelings in LoL than the simple feeling ofbeing poppy. It's like, your team can be 1-14, you can have lost every lane and you can still just say "ok, you die now." Being poppy roughly consists of picking out the twisted fate and making his life as miserable as possible. RAWR SO FEERS!(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN

As I call it, "slaking my unquenchable thirst for kneecap." Poppy is loads of fun, though she's so difficult to play I've let her fall by the wayside. Probably I should play the five or so games I need to get back in the groove, but I'm this...goddamn...close to being 100 wins over losses and I want to hit that for ego rights first (since I suspect my first few poppy games will be hilarious losses).Shanba wrote:There are few better feelings in LoL than the simple feeling ofbeing poppy. I found poppy to be a powerful pubstomper when I was low elo, but to start to fail as my elo rose, much like oldryze. She was amazingly fun, it was painful to give her up. Until I remembered how many bugs I was avoiding that way.
I still take her to TT from time to time to quench my thirst for kneecap."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"

QFT. That doesn't mean the behavior is socially acceptable, but I think this accurately explains it.BrutalAztecs wrote:The issue is more a gameplay issue than a community issue. A decent Poppy is like a single-target laser-guided ball of death. And she's freaking tough due to W + passive.
My list of abilities by level of trolololol:
#3 Shen ult + taunt + Q + passive on someone trying to 1v1 a teammate
#2 Karthus ult
#1 Teemo shroomSuccinctness is pro-town.

Unfortunately her passive clashes with her W, as does any survivability effect in the game. Such effects also clash with her ultimate. Which sucks, because her AD build is bad, and her AP ratios are bad too. You end up stuck with a choice between bad builds. It's weird.
CDR allows you to Devastating Blow multiple times though, so I usually focus on that since it's the one stat that doesn't clash with her innate properties. I also get sheen, because she's burst based."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"

Her ap ratios aren't that bad - 0.6 on her q and 0.8 on her e. The biggest problem with them is that she only has 2 ap ratios, so her overall combo only benefits a small amount from ap. Annie's ap ratios are 0.6, 0.6 and 0.7, but because she has 3 direct damage abilities she's getting more from the ap than poppy. Honestly I just build a whole bunch of burst single target damage - something like sheen into dfg into some survivability (maybe swapping survive and dfg). I think her skills have amazing synergy with any type of burst assassin style build - r and w as gap closers in the vein of akali's r or kat's shunpo, e and q as bringing the hurt. A good build should be able to 100-0 most carries imo. Once you've done that, your team should win the teamfight.
(incidentally, her ult has nice synergy with activatables on items like dfg, as it actually increases the damage they do. Same with ignite. Obviously you shouldn't always be ulting the guy you want to kill, but sometimes I feel it's not a bad idea if they have a tank like rammus or alistar with a ton of cc)(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN

Right, when I refer to AP ratios I refer to them collectively and as if the skills that aren't pitching in say "0".
1.4 a combo, 1.0 if you don't slam against a wall, is absolutely positively abysmal.
DFG is painful to buy because you spend so much money on AP. Once you buy Sheen she actually scales better off attack damage. After Heroic Charge, Dev Blow, and just one autoattack, Doran's tome has contributed 28 damage, Longsword has contributed 30. I usually get Brutalizer. The active on DFG is really good though, and if the other team has poor MR that justifies it on its own."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"

I'm practically certain that sheen only scales off base attack damage, and that the longsword would thusly only contribute 20 extra damage and not 30.
EDIT: the other thing about dfg is building it gives you a lucky pick, and with poppy's abysmally awful farming rice items are a nice way to try and catch up the deficit a bit.(10:50:24 PM) xcaykex: GODDAMNIT I DONT WANNA GET RID OF MY TENTACLE RAPE PORN

Basically there are two ways to build poppy, either the gimmick AP (relying on the fact that the DI 20/30/40% amp applies to the DFG nuke) or the CDR hybrid kinda ad/kinda tank sheen rushing bonkmaster. At least so it was when I actually had some skill with Poppy."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. Don’t buy a head of lettuce if you just want a salad. Don’t buy eggs and lettuce if you want egg salad because those are not the right ingredients." -Julius Bloop- popsofctown

hrm, the tooltip does say base damage. I always interpreted that as emphasizing that it wouldn't be doubling any bonuses you get from using an ability, like Siphoning Strike, rather than as excluding bonus attack damage. But I realize now my interpretation is definitely less rational. I'm gonna go test this.

Yep, you're right. It also turns out Sheen doesn't go 4x on crits. I am quite disillusioned.
I think that's enough to make DFG the better build. It's all about burst with her."Let us say that you are right and there are two worlds. How much, then, is this 'other world' worth to you? What do you have there that you do not have here? Money? Power? Something worth causing the prince so much pain for?'"

DFG Poppy is def. the burstier of the two. Hybrid AD/tank/CDR is more sustained, but yeah, generally when you're drafting a Poppy you're taking her as a bursty anti-carry."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. Don’t buy a head of lettuce if you just want a salad. Don’t buy eggs and lettuce if you want egg salad because those are not the right ingredients." -Julius Bloop- hitogoroshi

Here's a livestream video of mine!
Apologies for me laughing at my own jokes/repeating myself. It's a tic that pops up if I'm not careful to reign it in."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. Obviously works 20x better when you have 2 melee in your lane, lol.hitogoroshi wrote:Here's a livestream video of mine!
