SF cape provides a lot of effective ap for singed due to the passive: a friend of mine did the math for it (his singed guide found here gives the number, though I dunno the actual math he did). The value of the xp boost off of the utility tree helps singed a sizable amount in lane: faster catalyst regen, faster reaching level 18.

Reck! Don't listen to RF. Even if you're not "getting kills" with singed, ASSISTS still get you stacks on Mejai's... and you're not going to die and lose stacks because you are MOTEHRFUCKNIG SINGED. Just don't -RUSH- a Mejai's. Singed doesn't even need anything other than RoA and boots; Everything else is just buying you more time to /L at the enemy.

I really really really really hate snowball items. They're basically saying "I KNOW FOR SURE THAT I WILL NEVER DIE BECAUSE YOU GUYS SUCK"

Also, singed doesn't get a lot of benefit from the stacks: cdr is way too slow to come around, and his abilities don't really make ap stacking all by itself worthwhile. Fling's got a great ratio, but it's not exactly an amazing ability for dat damage, and the poison ratio is bad enough that the ap simply isn't worthwhile. If you're getting a snowball item, you might as well get a leviathan. At least then you're still being a proper tank.

And dottrololo means you want to be malzahar.

Yeah, Mejai's is a personal preference item too; it's not bad to get, especially if you are winning. It's a risky investment and dumb to get early game unless you already have a few kills and no deaths.

He's arguing that 35 magic damage per second would need 35/0.3 = ~117 AP to do equivalent damage on poison. I find that dubious, inthat Sunfire Cape's AoE is considerably smaller and it doesn't last beyond contact. It's not hard to get poison on 3-4 people in a fight, say. It's also a symptom of the fact that poison has a fairly low ratio to begin with; I think it's a fairly efficient source of damage over time, but I don't know that contributes much to a teamfight as opposed to living longer and putting down more poison, flings, etc.

I think it's a good item, but I'd personally view it as more situational and something I'd build later, after Randuin's / Frozen Heart if I wanted an armour item. I don't disagree much, though.

I really don't like Sunfire Cape. At all.

On Singed, why would you need it? You already have free health just by getting Mana, and other armor items give more armor while having better effects than just the 35 damage. (aka get frozen heart)

Sunfire Cape is helpful. It's not as good as poison(larger radius and 3 ticks every second the person spends in posion) but It does supplement the poison while giving you health and armor, making you more sustainable in a dive attempt, also when the baddies are on you and chasing that extra 35 is awesome. My build goes from 360 to 395 damage with a cape. Again it helps but isn't mandatory. Frozen Heart is probably better. attack speed debuff, Cooldown reduction, health, mana, and armor.
