Papa Zito:

My boyfriend said to NOT run it in windowed resolution mode, because it's actually MORE stressing to your computer.

And NOT to tab out to check your performance, because when in the background, the game doesn't run as well.

Check to see if your graphics drivers are up to date, and if they are - did you update them recently? Did they make the problem WORSE? If so, roll back.

You should monitor the heat with something like Speedfan. Overheating alone can cause the problem.

Try Flash games to see if it's LoL-specific.

If your computer is over 2-3 years old, consider that you might need to replace the hard drive.

That's official Boyfriend Recommendations (TM).

Zito:

(the above advice is good but I'll add)

Spec wise there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be running at a million billion fps.

Are you running into performance issues with any other programs?
When the fps drops can you check for processor spikes in task manager?

There's a couple things it could be but gut absolutely says video card issues. I'd be checking for overheating issues and/or driver issues or, god forbid, if the card itself is going out.

Run a full set of benchmarks and see if there's anything on the graphics end going tilt. I'm bettin there will be.

If you aren't experiencing issues with anything else, uninstall and clear your computer of LoL-related things, then re-install.

And make sure you also uninstall Pando Media Booster and update anything Adobe-related.

Don't tell Riot. Image

It wouldn't surprise me for them to drop him in two weeks instead of three since they took so long with this patch. And it's probably not going to include a full-on patch, so coding him in early was a smart idea.

I made a point of looking through my match history recently and if Riot ever actually had the sense to not apply ELO losses (with, say, half the ELO gain for the winning team, so their time wasn't entirely wasted) for ranked games where someone never connected/AFK'd/ragequit, my record would be 19/10 in Ranked. Instead it's 22/26.

No, It would be (Number of games won)/0, because you would be able to dodge loses. And soon as the enemy team started to snowball at least one person on the losing team would just quit and dodge the lose. ELO would mean nothing and the boards would be stacked with complaints of how X person is terrible and dodges all their loses. Any game I have ever seen in which you could dodge a lose by turning fo your system/DCing/ect, has had to be patched because people abuse it.

DotA2. There's the fancy mechanic that you take an increased ELO loss if you leave the game, whether prematurely or not, and if you leave in the first 15 (I think?) minutes, your team takes no ELO penalty. The winning team always gets ELO.
I haven't seen this abused by leaving or even by attempting to force an ally to leave early, but that might be because the rating is invisible and this mechanic (like mostly anything in DotA2) is not announced anywhere on the game client.

Just wondering anyone got good graphic card recommendations? Running new laptop but seems to have tons of overheating problems from running Firefox as is, and the few times I tried WC3 on it ran much worse than my now dead laptop of 5+ years.

Old laptop never had overheating problems so not sure if it's this new laptop not being able to handle flash (browser games) and other such games.

^This is exactly what I meant to refer to. Despite the fact that my W/L ratio is essentially 1:1 in Dota 2, I still occasionally get matched with players like Synderen because a good chunk of those "losses" don't count because of people leaving before the 15 minute mark or never bothering to turn up at all.
When you say "any game in which you could dodge a lose by DCing/turning off your system" I instantly think of my experience with Street Fighter 4 or FIFA's online, where people routinely stamp on their ethernet cable/pull the cable on the PS3 to avoid a loss. This is a different genre entirely, and as has been mentioned, there are already working systems that subvert this kind of thing out there. I'd like to think that if Valve can put a functional anti-dodge system in Dota 2, Riot can at least copy it.

Also, after 545 wins and 498 losses, I've received my first "LEAVE" ever, because my graphics card has completely failed and I probably need a new one. I started a game up with my friends and then all of a sudden the graphics glitched and my computer crashed. I tried restarting and re-entering the game 3 times with the same thing happening. Then it got to the point where my computer wouldn't turn on at all... so my boyfriend removed my graphics card for me and re-inserted the integrated graphics, now my computer is teh suck. :(

Okay, after working on this like all day I finally figured out that this is indeed the problem. Everything was running around 80C when idle, which is obviously way way way too high. I thought the fans were blowing way too hard all the time but I wasn't sure. Turns out the little rubber feet on the bottom of the thing had come off, so there was no air getting into the thing. I jury rigged something for now and I've got a laptop cooling pad thinger on the way from Amazon. Now all is well and SO much quieter omg.

Thanks everyone!

ALSO okay

Good, you figured out the problem.

My man is not around so I'm going to sound straight up dumb, but he also had this problem awhile back.

He knows what he is doing, so he did this thing where he took apart his computer and put silver cooling gunk on his somethingajigger.

This is the most definitive repair for this, besides replacing a faulty fan.

Laptop cooling pad will certainly help, but that is something you can do at home.

Obviously I am very uninformative and technologically retarded, but I know for sure he took it apart and put silver gunk that smelled SO FUCKING bad on some little chip somewhere. I hope this helps.
