One of my favorite features... I think the smilies might should go, though...

OK, so now you can opt-in/out of this. I STILL don't really understand why anyone wouldn't want this...

Well, I like it, although I think it should be at the bottom of the page, so you can go to the next page in a thread without having to scroll over it. It gets irritating after a while.

would it be possible to add the buttons for bolding and such to quicky reply?
that would make the "post reply" button no longer neccessary

Well, seeing as it's quick reply it's not really a surprise that their omited.

But it would probably be a good idea if you took out the smilies and put in the formatting options instead.

I second/third that. Bolding is more useful than smilies.

I kind of disagree. I know all the tags for the basic formatting, but don't remember all the smilies off the top of my head.

Eh - regardless of how the quick reply box is improved, I'm leaving it hidden. It's not like clicking the reply button is overly taxing and the box just seemed "in the way."

OK, I didn't add in the tags because I type them myself even when I hit reply... I was actually considering removing the smilies... I like the quote selected and quote last reply... You may have noticed that I removed the hyperlink where clicking on a person's name added their name in bold to the QR box. I didn't like it and I have other plans for hyperlinking a username now.

As to leaving it hidden, I added that ability for folks like you MeMe. ;) Personally, I'll probably never hit reply again. The only way I'll go to posting.php is if I hit quote or edit.

As to moving it, I can do that quite easily. I'll play around with it on the test board and see where I like it best.

add formatting stuff...I'd like to vote from the quick reply box without having to type in the code (easier)

No, I won't add pick boxes for formatting. I'm not going to make it a complete replacement for the reply. I'm actually seriously considering removing the smilies.

Just change it to a button so that you can see all the smilies

My suggestion: leave the text box, the "quote selected" button and the "submit" button. If someone wants to preview it, they can use the "post reply" button. Same if they want to be notified if someone replies. And make attach signature default. If someone doesn't want to attack signature, they can hit "post reply."

I see no need for formatting, since everyone knows that
and
are the ones for bolding, which is the only important one when it comes to playing mafia.

I like it the way it is, although I wouldn't object to getting rid of the smilies. I think the "Quote selected" button is one of the greatest inventions ever put into effect on this site, and I almost always use the "Preview" button, even in Quick Reply. Definitely leave that in; it allows people to write their post in the QR box with the entire last page in front of them while still being able to easily preview it.

Please, keep the preview button. Anything else, I'm fine with omitting, since I just type the code (being faster and all). But I like to make sure I got the coding right before I hit submit.

how does quote selected work? I'm not sure i'm doing it right, as it does not do anything for me.

While we're on the "quote selected" topic...is there any such thing as a recommended browser for viewing mafiascum?

Because it works in IE but I use Mozilla Firebird these days and 'quote selected' does not work for me anymore.

Quote Selected should work in Mozilla. I'll check into it to see what is happening.

Bigbenwd, what browser/OS are you using?

You have to highlight text, and click on "quote selected." It can be text anywhere on the page.

Ok, so if so many of you like the "preview button" Then I think that having that, the quote selected and the submit would be the best.

You guys do whatever you like with the Quick Reply!

As long as I can simply use the Post Reply button, I'm happy :).

We definitely have a bold selected beside the much less used quote selected and smilie buttons.

I use the quick reply button, but I usually preview the post as well, making it a normal reply.
But I agree with previous posts, the pagenumbers below are kind off annoying.
