E is legit harass in many lanes, easier to land than Q at the cost of lower range. It lets you push the lane very hard on demand without losing any mana, and the lowered cooldown at higher levels is nice too. I pretty much always max it first and Q second. Not sure if that would change in top lane, where pushspamming is riskier.Primpod 11:13 pm

re: jayce chat
Jayce makes me uncomfortable to lane against. I'm not a very good toplaner, I keep the river warded and I play Darius, Yorick, or Teemo most times I go top. Jayce completely wrecks Darius, never ever do that lane. Jayce does everything Teemo does but better, probably never do that lane, against a 1200 or worse Jayce it probably works since you can sidestep his ball shot. Yorick is generally an anti-farm champ, in which I can usually win my lane but can struggle to contribute later in the game if things don't go your way (ex: Botlane gets rolled, jungler is a tank, best case for you to ult is now yourself. That kinda sucks.)
If someone said "you have to go top v Jayce", and I knew they were a good player, I would probably go Vlad or Kennen. Both are manaless ranged who can endlessly poke or trade very well, and both have an excellent escape. Neither of those champs ever HAVE to go back (after revolver). Kennen sacrifices pushing power for greater kill potential and teamfight stunfuckery, while Vlad can push and farm like a flamboyant red Morde but can drop off if the game moves past laning before your core build is set. Kennen's big weakness is his inability to push back fast, and is not great under the tower. Vlad is great under the tower but can have a hard time dealing with gapclosers and big combo guys dropping ignite.
I happen to know a pretty good Jayce player so I should probably just run some 1v1 customs and get shredded a few times to find out.

My main problem with being all rah-rah good guy cheerleader is that there's just no payoff for it.
Like, in my softball/basketball leagues, you always support your teammates no matter what happens.. I played organized sports all through hs/college, it got drilled into my head in peewee football that if you ever say anything bad to your teammates, your ass is on the bench. Now that I'm old and slow I can only play in rec leagues, but the teams are there because they enjoy the game, and they enjoy playing with each other. If there was some guy who was a real dirtbag but a highly skilled player, we'd get rid of him cause it's a rec league and nobody wants to put up with that. Of course in real life situations you don't get a "troll" who just takes the ball and throws it across the street every chance he gets, because "trolling" in real life would get you "punched in the face".
I just played a game as nice guy katarina in ranked solo, I spent the whole game giving mini pep talks and saying stuff like "nice try on that gank, we'll get him next time", "don't worry, we can still come back", and "hey olaf, that's the 5th time you've died like that, maybe a ward in the top river and don't live under their tower". What do they say? STFU NOOB FK KAT KS NOBO. There's absolutely no payoff for it, and the constant wet-nursing and coddling is fucking exhausting. Ok so you just spent 40 min jacking off some awful player so he doesn't ragequit or ragefeed or whatever the fuck these people do when they implode. You'll never see him again. It would be worth it if you could have the same team from multiple sessions, you could cultivate good habits and good attitudes. 30 seconds after this game, you'll be in a new queue with 4 other potential psychopaths looking to dunk you -12 elo. It is EXHAUSTING trying to play the cheerleader.
We had some games last night with a guy from MS who I had never played with before, he was obviously on a much higher level than us and I could hear him getting frustrated sometimes, and even though yeah we did some "bad 1100 player" shit a couple of times, as long as we generally did what he said, we won both those games. Nothing but respect for that dude for walking us through a couple wins, but he must have been exasperated by it. I'm not a good player, I can do a few things well but I don't have a great grasp of game sense on when we should be doing what things, so I find it incredibly helpful to have someone there to make the calls.
Probably the best thing I could do would be to find some kind of balance where I type as little as possible and just keep it to 2 letters like gj or ss (comedy option /ff). I can easily admit my attitude could use some work, if only for my own sanity in the almighty Q.- Knight of Cydonia

Being a nice guy won't always make your team better, true.
But it won't make them any worse, and keeping positive will help you stay off tilt just as much as it'll help them.Last edited by Knight of Cydonia on Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:09 pm, edited 1 time in total.- IH

Unless you're against ranged poke or it's a hard lane you level E first for more reliable damage. 20% max health per shot plus extra for ad scaling is pretty serious. And it's magic damage.
You max Q for ranged poke (Like versus teemo for the blind), or if you need to push the lane hard. So like against a swain, you'd max q, ward, stay pushed into tower. Against darius or olaf or someone you max e, and last hit/harrass in canon. As SOON as they hit harass, you switch E. Almost always win trades, since the range is larger than most pokes. You only stay in hammer form if you're ready for a kill, so you can Jump auto, ignite hammer, cannonswitch, Accelrated shockblast.Untrod Tripod (7:27:18 PM): you enjoy whoring

I prefer Q max to E max regardless of matchup, but again I am bad and i play against bads, so Gateball hits quite often.
As far as teammates, Hindu is the guy that probably best described my the situations I find myself raging in. My teammates start blaming me for whatever reason(most reason example, "Report shen for noob, he built ionic spark, you noob jungler, amumu has ganked us X times". I don't have it in me to blow this off. I wish I did. Hindu even posted that no matter what you shouldn't respond to the negativity, but I can't. I just plain can't hold back from telling this guy that if he placed wards and didn't push his lane the entire game that I would love to gank for him. I know some of you said place wards for your teammates..I can't ward 3 lanes man. I can't win 3 losing lanes with ganks. I'm not sure anyone can. And it's tough not to get demoralized especially when you have 4 people telling you that you're a moron when they keep getting ganked. Shen Ult has a 3-minute cooldown man. Honestly I was tilted when I posted my diatribe the other day and some of what i said was definitely exaggerated, but cheerleading isn't gonna stop your team from calling you a fk noob. It's not gonna stop them from non-intentionally feeding. And it is gonna put you in a shittier mood. When I cheerlead a game and get shit on by my teammates for 40 minutes and lose, it hurts my mental game a whole lot more than being an asshole and losing. Winning a cheerlead game doesn't feel any better then a troll win, sometimes it feels worst to be honest with you.Sometimes a sandwich is just a sandwich.- xRECKONERx

I tend to forget xerath even exists. I'm inclined to think this means I should pick him up so I can take advantage of other people also forgetting he exists (and how to deal with him).- Staeg

For the love of all that is holy keep that monstrosity of a creature away from any midlane I might have a chance to be involved in
(actual info: the dude is REALLY skill-based. Derpraths are my favorite kind of meal for breakfast, but the good ones are a (virtually never seen) terror)lmao Fate = Jake from State Farm & Pisskop- Glork

I remember Xerath being free the very first week I started playing. I also remember beating up on newbies playing Xerath all week, even though I myself had no clue what I was doing either. It was good times.- Phillammon
