omg fuk u ur al mean u n00bhatrz

This was my "strategy" when designing that build:
"Hmm, I have a support, a mage, a fighter, and a ranged attacker. So, I want someone...kind of physical and fast?"
"Let me read everyone's abilities...fuck, there's only ten seconds left. I'll just choose the pirate who's free today, because PIRATES!"
"I'll just keep buying the most expensive thing I can afford on the Recommended Item list. The list wouldn't lie to me."
"AAAAAAAAAAAH, I keep dying in two hits. Let me buy the most expensive thing I can afford from the list of defence items."
"AAAAAAAAAAAH, I
still
keep dying in two hits, and I'm also doing barely any damage. Let me buy the most expensive thing I can afford from the list of attack items."
"AAAAAAAAAAAH, I still keep dying in two hits and doing barely any damage! Let me buy a...never mind, our Nexus is destroyed."

As a former low-level noob and current mid-level noob, I'd recommend playing against people because everyone will make mistakes and have sub-par items. Bots are probably going to be harder to kill because of how enemies turtle and allies don't push lanes or help you in a fight unless they are two feet away.

As for items it took me a while to realize its better to buy components to a really good, really expensive item, than to buy whatever cheap thing you can get at the time. Like the avarice blade is cheap but it doesn't do damage or build into anything that does much damage or keep you from dying. That pickaxe can be turned into an infinity edge which does a ton of damage.

It's so fucking demoralizing to stomp a game out to get +4 LP... I think i might be done. The system has locked me out gold, my ranked games actually don't mean anything, so it's all bad, no good. Playing normals is just ranked practice so but why practice for games where you aren't earning anything.i don't i might start on a smurf and see if I can turn that into a gold account, cause AudioTsunami is dead.

Also, ActionDan, what is your SN.

Do you mean so I have plausible deniability? "Oh, I totally wouldn't be a clownfuck if I actually
did
play."

Right now, I'm too embarrassed to face actual human beings (particularly strangers) at my current level of play, but maybe after a few practice games (I'd like to manage to win at least
once
against bots outside of a tutorial).

This may be a silly question, but is this something people plan out in advance for their champions before actually playing? It seems tricky to decide on the spot what to buy while the battle is ongoing. Do items even show up on the list if you don't have the pieces composing it? I don't remember seeing anything I had enough gold but not the equipment for.

Generally people go into a game knowing what 'core' they want to build (2-3 items that are very good on your Champion), and then once you get to the point when you have those items, you pick your remaining items based on how the game is going. To use the Recommended Items example, you would build your first 3 'Recommended Items' first, then after they are done start picking from the 'Offence' or 'Defense' items.

Having said that, the Recommended Items have the potential to be really bad, depending on what role you are playing the champion as in that game. The Recommended Items are set in stone for each individual champion and don't take anything else into account, so it doesn't know if you're planning on being the damage-dealer, the tank, or the supporter.

I would recommend playing against bots until you feel comfortable. Also, you might want to go ahead and buy a cheap champion that looks fun to play and learn all of their abilities and what kind of items you should buy for them. After you feel comfortable with that champ, pick another. As you play against different champions, you'll start to learn their abilities, too.

Yeah I mostly stick with recommended items and look at each ones stats to see which have the offensive or defensive stats I want. And you can click on each one to see the tree of cheaper items you would buy first that will turn into the expensive item once you have all of them.

Image

So if I wanted to play defensively as gangplank but still have a little damage to keep up with my opponent I'd go with a Phage since it has extra health and damage. But its expensive so you'd first buy a long sword for a little damage and a ruby crystal for a little health, then upgrade those two into the phage for better stats.

Also that picture came from this site: http://s3.microtony.com/

Where you can read the recommended items for whichever champion you want to play. Its a little out of date so the numbers might be off.

Well to the first bit, believe it or not, there are people that are as bad as you at this game. Trust me. People pick this game up everyday, and they all start bad. Different levels of bad, but bad. League has a steep learning curve so it takes time.

As for the second, until you figure out what items and people start trying to get you to play by the meta, ect. just go ahead and go to a site like mobafire.com and build what they tell you. Generally everything is situational but those build are pretty good general and give you a good spread.

My ex
could not
understand the concept of avoiding fighting under the enemy tower when I tried to introduce him to the game, even after having several tutorial and easy bot games under his belt.

If you've at least got that down, you're already better than the worst I've seen. :D

Dude, I'm not telling her that mobafire builds are pro or anything, I'm just saying in a general sense, they work. Like it's better then recommended items.

Mina are you secretly trolling everyone? There are so many things about that pic I don't understand.

Also I use mobafire and have heard several people say it's shit but I don't see anything to the argument, having found several decent item builds and generally helpful advice there. Plus it's up to date and all the relevant information is arranged in an intuitive format.

Oh yeah, and Panzer, you should just take a break from ranked and try having some fun in normals with champs you never play or troll builds that work in weird situations. It sounds like you're just burnt out on trying too hard. Play some games as Blitzcrank, just cause you can. Go botlane with Taric and ks the hell out of your carry then carry the game yourself. Build AD Nami mid and destroy with her somehow. That still baffles me.

Ugh. This attitude is by far what I like least about playing League, and the reason I avoid Normals like the plague.

I think someone would need to have only one arm and a neurological disorder to be worse at this game than I am. Memorizing the amount of damage that every single ability will do to any champion with any combination of equipment? Flaming people for their incorrect theories about Sona vs. Soraka and Taric vs. Thresh and top lane vs. mid lane and carry vs. support vs. jungler and asfaafgag vs. dhifghdihod? I find it hard enough to just head in the general direction of bad guys and then randomly left-click and mash QWE before a bot kills me in two hits.

Pretty sure I lost my first bot game ever and couldn't figure out how to right click and now I'm one of the highest ranking members on mafiascum. Starting out/being really bad to start doesn't mean anything.
It's a fun game if you play with fun people. c:

I think JD has horror stories about how bad I was at this game when I started.
Including a couple support Warwick games where all I did was sit in the brush and watch him die repeatedly.

Also, the changes to Rumble ult in PBE haven't made a noticeable difference in his success. Just means that you can't use his ult as a finisher anymore, and that you're going to fuck people up a lot harder for placing it well.
or something like that....
