Rules!

Mafia Rules
1.
I, xtopherusD, am the mod of this game. I wrote these rules and you have to follow them. All I say is final - up to but not quite including inaccuracies in vote counts or the like. Let me know in such cases.
1a.
There will come a time when my duties are temporarily taken up by one RichardGHP. Treat him as you would me.
2.
Follow all site rules at all times. This includes sitewide Mafia rules. Read them here, if you'd like.
3.
For writing important things, I use
this shade of cerulean
. I may edit your posts with this colour for a variety of reasons - so don't use anything that looks like it.

Rules about Lynching People and about Death!
4.
Each player may vote for one person at any time. You may use [vo
te] tags (VOTE: xtopherusD), or simply
bold
a vote (
VOTE: RichardGHP
).

4a.
Since you can only vote one person, you are not required to unvote at any time. It would, however, be much appreciated.
5.
As soon as any player has a majority of votes, they will be lynched. Their role will be revealed and the game will enter "Twilight".
5a.
A majority is achieved if, barring unvotes, no other player can receive more votes than the lynched.
6.
Twilight lasts between the final vote of the day, and my announcement of Night. All players may talk until that time.
7.
NO BAA POSTS. A single "Bah" post is fine.
8.
If the town doesn't reach a majority vote by deadline, no one will be lynched and the game will go to Night phase. There is to be no posting after deadline, even if the mod doesn't announce it straight away.

On the topic of Deadlines...
10.
Upon my first post of a Day, a 2 week countdown will begin. In-game days go for 336 hours.
10a.
This is
absolutely non-negotiable
, in that you can ask and I might end up saying yes anyway. Expect that I will refuse deadline extensions, but I will decide per case.
11.
Upon my first post of Night, all players with an action to submit will have 72 hours to do so. Failure to submit will result in no action being performed.
12.
If you don't post for 72 hours, I will send you a friendly reminder PM (or "prod") to make you post again.
13.
Prods must be responded to within 48 hours, which must be done in thread during Day and by PM during Night.
14.
If you receive three prods, you may be replaced - it is unlikely that you won't be, but there could possibly be an appropriate situation. Expect replacement, and consider yourself lucky otherwise.

General Miscellany
15.
If you would like to grab my attention about something, please use
bold font
in thread, or PM me for more important (or secret) matters.
16.
Don't post things with the intent of hiding them or their meaning from any player or from me. No game-related small text, no weird encryption strategies, etc.
17.
Always play to your win condition. This will not change throughout the game, so you should always be playing to win.
18.
Be friendly. Don't get aggressive or do things that will make me stop you from doing that. This is a game.
19.
This is a game! It sounds obvious, but it can need to be said twice.
9.
Rule 9 lives here for no reason.
20.
Do not abuse V/LA announcements. Do not accuse V/LA announcements. Real life happens.
21.
Have fun! Enjoy the game. Try new things. Not illegal things. Have controlled fun.


Game-Specifics
I.
There is the possibility that an Innocent Child role will exist. If that player PMs me and tells me to do so, my next opportunity to post in thread will announce their innocence.
II.
The Mafia will have 72 hours after role PMs are sent to confer and choose the Town's power roles.
III.
This game uses the
Pick Your Poison
setup. All possible role PMs are listed in the following post.

Roles in the Game

This game is using the Pick Your Poison setup. The following roles will initially be sent out:

Mafia

Vanilla Town

Undetermined Power Roles


The
Mafia
will then have 72 hours to pick their poison, after which time three of the remaining five roles will be sent to the
Undetermined
players. These five roles are:
Innocent Child

Two-Shot Vigilante
.

You may conspire in this QuickTopic during Night phases, and each Night may kill one player.

As a Tracker, you may track one player each Night phase. In the morning, you will be told who they targeted in that phase, if anyone.

You woke up with a phone in your pocket. For some reason, the Mafia has promised to tell you the allegiance of any one person in the town... Why shouldn't you trust them?


As a One-Shot Cop, you may investigate one player on any one Night. You will receive a 100% accurate result about their alignment - either "Town", "Mafia", or "No Result".

You still win with the Town.

Are you meant to be here? You seem to have become a guard of a prison. You suppose that throwing someone in here would have all sorts of benefits...


As a Jailkeeper, you may "jailkeep" one player each night. This will prevent any one kill performed on them that night, but will also prevent their action from being performed, if any.

You still win with the Town.

Where were you last night? You can't be certain. There's only one thing you're certain of... They gave you a gun, and a pair of bullets. This could be useful...


As a Two-Shot Vigilante, you may shoot someone on two different Nights during the game. If you succeed, this action will kill them and remove them from the game.

The townspeople wake for the first time. Although created today, their hard coded instincts tell them that there are traitors in their midst. These traitors may have helped them previously, but now is the time to be rid of them...

Prefer scum in large games and town in smaller games. Because getting enough sheep in large games is frustrating.

I prefer town overall myself. I'm happier with a PR than without, but am content either way.
