After trying out some different stuff on Lucian, the build I've done best with is:
Bloodthirster - I don't like botrk as much as BT because he scales super well on AD and only decently on AS. His double hits are nice but you don't really end up with more activations than you would on a more purely AA-focused champion.
Black Cleaver - He stacks it fast with passive / ult and likes the CDR and health.
Triforce - Everything is useful and the kiting / spellblade passives are synergetic for him
LW - good for the usual reason
Greaves - I haven't actually tried Ionian boots yet but we do want at least :some: AS
GA - we get a little health from triforce / BC and a little armor/MR here, so that works nicely.

I don't like infinity edge as much as usual because a lot of his damage is based on abilities which can't crit.

I find that with some CDR, I can keep an ability->doubleauto chain up. That pattern doesn't benefit as much from shiv or PD as from triforce.

Also Lucian Really likes blue buff. Fills out the CDR and he does go oom easily.
And the ult isn't so much a ton of damage as good damage at a longer than normal range.

What has worked for other people?

I would freaking love to see TSM out of the LCS, but I doubt it will happen. CoL should be able to get in over VES or Coast, but I think it might take some luck for a challenger team to get in over TSM/CRS/DIG/CLG. You never know though.

I'm really hating the recent change to Zac's blob absorption ability. It's so annoying now :|

I like the BT/PD/BotRK build. I love the attack speed, the damage that I get from BT alone is pretty substantial, and the lifesteal makes you just not die. Ever. I haven't played a long game with him yet, so idk past that (and Berserker's, obvs).

i hesitate to post in this as i don't want to get dragged into playing the game, but my friend who works for Riot posted this on his facebook: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/ ... n-an-hour/ which i find interesting from a general gaming perspective.

The support one was my fav because it summarizes my feelings in most of my ranked supp games. I learned never to go supp unless last pick and forced to, even though I don't really mind the play itself.

(Btw, LL, I just noticed the link in your sig and your answers were all awesome except for the mirror one. You are, overall, a great person and you should be proud of yourself. Unless you were joking; in which case I retract my earlier statement.)

It would be sweet to see CoL back in the LCS. I've been rooting for Laut/Pr0lly since they were on Legion. As far as TSM falling out, if their communication issues are really that bad, then they could certainly flame out. They are definitely more skilled players individually than any NA challenger team out there, but if they tank thanks to Regi's bullying at the end of the season they could very well be out of it. It's sad, because I like most of the players on TSM, with the obvious exception of Regi. Dyrus/Xpecial/Turtle/Oddone all deserve to be in the LCS, but they are being held back by their totalitarian owner/captain/mid.

Idk how pro supps get all that money though. I feel like there's never enough for extra wards (wards other than from stone) after having to get ruby, occasionally pinks, and aegis/locket. Yet the team gives the supp shit for it anyway, even though they obviously have money for a ward or two themselves. "Only 3 sight wards and a pink down? Wtf supp, we have no vision. It took you so long to get locket too. Fkin noob."

What Saki said.

At the pro level, supports basically go SS+wards (sometimes getting a philo for a shurelia's). Locket goes on the tank.

In Solo Queue this is bad, and it's generally better to go SS+double GP10 early, since your team won't be able to abuse having vision everywhere nearly as well (and they won't be clearing wards as well)

I suppose I could go for that second GP10 but that's only delaying the aegis more (in solo queue they usually depend on the supp to build aegis since most people don't like to play tanks/the ones that do want other items more). I don't believe I run gold runes though, which may be part of the problem.

If the only reason you're buying a gp10 item is for the gp10 it's almost never worth it. You have to hold a Kage's for 15 minutes and sell it just for it to pay for itself. Another way of looking at it, Kage's generates 1 sight ward's worth of gold every 3 minutes, but costs 10 wards worth of gold up front. Runes are worth it, but unless you definitely want whatever they're going to build into gp10 items aren't.

Kage's gives AP though, which is nice in solo queue when you want to maintain relevance as a support.

p much I use two pages

red: flat armor
yellow: gp10
blue: flat mr
quint: gp10

red: flat armor
yellow: flat armor
blue: flat mr
quint: ms

the first one really helps 'cause ima nub. works decently on all supports
second one i use when i play aggressive/beefy supports

you should be able to finish philo on your first back if you started with faerie/rejuv
i'd highly recommend finishing philo-kages before ss if you use the first rune page
(ss is a huge gold sink if you can't buy it outright)

please for the love of god do not buy more than one pink/three pots per back

and don't even think about t1 boots before at least 1 gp10

and and if you have just enough gold to finish something
fuck finishing it and grab wards
finishing items < not dying
