According to this chart, there are more people in Silver V than any other ranking. I'm not sure how credible this is and if anyone can find something better please show me, or even comparisons from season to season.
I'm really interested to see how ELO/MMR has changed over the years.

I am probably being a dumbass here, but what are these two graphs actually showing? As far as I can tell, they both seem to be attempting to show the same information, but have different data. I'm confused.

"This many people are in the division OR a better division" I think.

For example, there are 120k players in Silver I or better, and 70k in Gold V or better. Which means there are roughly 50k in Silver I. Therefore, the other graph shows 50k in Silver I.

In the second it's by specific tier, in the first it's X or better.

So in the first it goes
D2 or better: 1003
D1 or better: 750
C: 50

In the second
D2: 253
D1: 700
C: 50

and so on

I'm surprised you don't see a d5 spike in gold.

It makes sense that you'd have spiking like that, b/c people pay to get into division 5 or a league/a friend will duo to carry them there, then they stop caring and their MMR plummets. Happens a ton, Riot's working on how to address the issue.

Also, the issue of people who do it legit then stop playing because they can't get to the next tier, which firmly fits me, Legit Gold Legit No Chance at Plat, time to smurf. Gonna wind up with 2 accounts a Gold V
