@mara: because kdub already claimed non-vanilla. but actually, now that jake mentions it, he would have been better; if SMP got a "non-vanilla, no action" result, that would have cleared jake.

p.edit: well, wait a second, doesn't your "result" just say that he's vanilla? according to that, he could still be a scum goon and just not have done the kill.
Correct. All I got was that he's a vanilla who didn't do anything last night.
Here's my issue. This role is like the ultimate in role fishing. The role is hardly believable with such a tracker/role cop part built it. You were getting strung up by the time it was brought out so I can't help but wonder if your role is an absolute last ditch effort to get more information for your team.

P-Edit: Hi muffinz. What the hell?

stop trying to guess or out guess the mod and play the game, that's twice now and it never works.
i'm trying to play the game, jake.

i blocked SMP because i figured scum would send their most heavily suspcted scumbag to do the kill (so that they wouldn't lose much if they were caught out by a tracker/watcher/roleblocker).

assuming 10 town vs 3 scum (standard for minis), there was a 1/9 chance that a hypothetical scumroleblocker targeted me (additionally, we have to assume that the scum's roleblock resolves before mine).

SMP is scummy and, even assuming a mafia roleblocker, i like my 8/9 odds. i'm going with it.
I dislike the attempt at mod meta-ing as well, seeing as in every game with bork I've come across some different styles of roles, especially for scum.

Anti, since your claiming a blocker role, why SHOULD we believe this is any more than a ploy to get him lynched? All I've gotten from you so far is you'll do anything you can to get the people you have the slightest suspicion on lynched. Why wouldn't you have RB'd me or Kdub, the two you were vehemently against?

because i've never faked a guilty on someone just to get them lynched and faking guilties on people just because of "suspicion" is stupid. and given that i've never done that in my time on the site, it's scummy you would suggest that.

and yeah, i was debating between rb'ing you and SMP, but i went with SMP because i thought he was more likely to do the kill (see: my conversation about this with kdub).

AJ yeah. Everything he posts reads a little bit awkward somehow.

Aegor's lolnoreasons trolling on day 1 was pretty disturbing.

I think 2 scum in that bunch. Aegor is probably playing too dont-give-a-fuck to be scum though.

Aj bothers me because he posts every couple of days and says just enough to get by but doesn't really involve himself in the game or interact with anyone on a continuous basis. For example his last post looks like filler and I don't see anything pro-active from him.

i'd be ok with an AJ lynch for the simple fact that he doesn't look like he's helping anyone find scum

SMP is probably a smarter lynch today. maybe. dunno

btw if SMP is actually town, i'm pretty near conf-town unless you think (a) i'm a goon (which seems rather unlikely if this is 10:3 given how power-heavy town seems to be), and (b) i performed no action last night (which would mean one of the other scum players - who would probably have a PR of sorts - performed the kill instead)

so SMP lynch either results in scum flip or me near conf-town so yeah

the fact SMP isn't really doing anything probably means scum flip though but whatevs

I generally agree with this.

Given the timing and nature of the SMP/Anti exchange at the start of the day, I think it's highly unlikely that Anti is scum here, and any explanations for SMP being town would rely on plausible but unlikely assumptions about other roles messing with Anti. I think everyone has weighed in, and discussion seems to be slowing down.

~Meribia, Black Rose Street~

Unnoticed by bystanders going their business, a young girl of eleven years followed a tiny winged cat into one of the huts at the end of the street.

Follow me!
it had implored her, excitedly but in uncertain terms, and the girl had been so enchanted she did not think to ask how a cat could fly, much less talk while doing so.

Now, as it crossed the threshold into what her guest could not know was a perilous ruse, the "cat" relinquished its disguise as it waited for the girl, morphing into the form of a cloaked woman with short, blonde hair, who most knew only as Black Rose Street's newest fortune teller. But even this was yet another masquerade.

For no one knew that the mysterious and exotic Royce was an agent of the Vile Tribe, sent to not only infiltrate the Magic Guild but also to capture Althena's vessel. And the young girl accompanying her was simply the latest trial in that experiment.

After what finally registered as a moment too long, Royce frowned. The girl hadn't followed her into the hut after all. Wondering what had kept her, she resolved to stick her head out of the entryway when an acrid scent assaulted her, and a din began to erupt outside the tent. And as the scent grew stronger and became identifiable as smoke, Royce realized she'd finally been caught, the girl having been called off, a willing accomplice to those hoping to catch her in the act.

Although she couldn't hear the exact words, Royce was sure who she'd find outside: the distressed parents and guardians of the dozens of girls she'd helped abduct for the Vile Tribe, hoping to find the one imbued with Althena's spirit. They'd obviously suspected her for some time, but only now had they been able to procure hard evidence tying her disguise to her home and, therefore, her person. Whether or not they were attempting to kill her in the fire they'd just set or just force her out, Royce did not want to find out.

She grimaced. She could diffuse the situation now, giving herself up and telling the parents that the girls were being kept in a safe house until it could be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that none of them was the girl she seeked, after which they would be released. But that would still land her in prison indefinitely, and Royce knew that even this secular seaside town had its share of magic users, especially with the guild close by, who could keep her confined if they so chose.

No, there was nothing to be done but run - Royce had requisitioned a trap door installed in secret in the days since her moving in for this exact reason. Briskly moving to the back of the room, she threw it open and was rewarded with the cool and dank air of the sewer system, which for all its unpleasantness, was a fine alternative to the air here, which was quickly becoming a choking hazard.

Her meager fortune teller possessions, a front for her being in town and in no way indicative of her true power as a seer, were worthless. Her clothing could be replaced. Deciding she'd outstayed her welcome, Royce fled to the sewers, where she would hopefully find time to set up wards that would allow her to teleport to safety.

~Meribia, Sewers~

It was a long half hour and four staircases before Ramus reached the water level of the sewer system. The smell had not gotten any better during the trip.

So that really was it -- just a river of what Ramus hoped was mostly water, but more importantly, very possibly a way into and out of town, if only one was willing to traverse it. And the more he thought about it, the more Ramus realized what a boon this truly was -- why, he could procure any good, arrange any service without the need for customs to know anything about it!

But was it worth the voluntary surrender of his scruples? What would his friends back in Burg think if Ramus were caught dabbling in illicit markets?

His sudden turmoil was so great that he failed to notice, either by sight or sound, the giant white dragon ascending from the surface of the water until what little light available to him was extinguished in shadow.

Startled, Ramus dropped the lantern and dove behind a nearby stone pillar.

“Not quite the reaction I was hoping for,” rumbled the giant reptile.

Ramus’ eyes bulged in their sockets. “Y-you…”

“Yes, yes, I am speaking to you, and in your native tongue at that. You do not seem to be the one I seek.”

Ramus somehow found the presence of mind to be taken aback at that, and he crossed his arms. “H-how do you know? You don’t even know who I am!”

“Are you the Dragonmaster?”

Ramus blinked. “Not that I know of.”

The dragon emitted what Ramus could only interpret as a long, tired sigh. “You will have to do,” it seemed to decide.

The shopkeeper was quickly becoming indignant at his apparent lack of worth. “Look, maybe you can just tell me what you need and I can see if I can help? I know a great deal of people.”

The dragon seemed to consider this, before it relented. “Very well. I apologize for my earlier rudeness; I am Quark, the White Dragon, and I have been tasked with the protection of the Vessel of Althena.”

“Althena, like the goddess?
That
Althena?”

“The very same,” it (he?) confirmed, and Ramus had the feeling he was being laughed at. “I am to pass this diamond on to the one who will bear the title of Dragonmaster.”

The mention of ‘Dragonmaster’ struck a brief chord within Ramus, but was quickly overridden by the other thing he’d just heard. “Diamond? I know all about diamonds. Might I have a look?” Ramus asked, struggling to keep his voice even.

“This gem will impart no monetary value,” Quark admonished. “It is physically indistinguishable from a very flawed, off-color, run-of-the-mill stone. Yet in the hands of a Dragonmaster, it can provide unimaginable power in battle.”

Ramus scratched his chin for a moment, before nodding. “Okay.” He started; he was going to have to play this cool. Dragons, although known for their ferocity, were also fabled to be guardians of vast treasures. “Okay,” he said again. “I think I can help. Just help me narrow down the type of guy you’re looking for here, I can send out some feelers to my trade partners, and we can all keep our ears to the ground. Maybe we can find--”

“There won’t be any need for any of that,” came a new voice, utterly unlike the one emanating from the giant beast in front of Ramus. For not only had it come from behind him, but it was soft, pointed, and markedly female. He whirled around.

“Hello, boys,” greeted Royce, stepping closer to the startled shopkeeper, spear in hand and a lopsided grin tugging at the corner of her face. “I think I’ll save you all that trouble and just take that gem off your hands for you.”
