↑ davesaz wrote:Ignore isn't quite the right word. It's more than disagreement though, that would not bother me as much. It's kinda like you're implying my point can't possibly be valid because nobody in their right mind would play mafia that way, which kinda loops back to you're new here so let me tell you how to scum hunt. So you don't actually say it but I read it that way.
you remember hope + 1, right? GreyICE powerlynched you and you said he was an idiot who had no case on you. but he was town.
the point is, is it good play for town to explain their scum reads? yes, and there is really not much benefit for not doing so that isn't outweighed by explaining it. however, empirically speaking, town does not do that all of the time, and moreover, they do not even do it significantly more than scum would pretend to explain their reads in the same situation.
I honestly have no idea why this is the case myself, and if it was entirely up to me I would want anyone who acts like that dead just via policy. however, the fact remains that some people will not explain their reads for *insert shit reason here*, and nothing anyone can do will change that. the only thing to do is accept that a significant number of people will play like that.
assuming all town will always play optimally is generally a misguided assumption people hold. now, if there was scum motivation in the way DGB handled it, I would agree it was scummy, but I don't think there is either; not many people would be naive enough to just blatantly make up reads and OMGUS people when they get called on it, since it would be obvious they are BS'ing as soon as it became obvious they didn't *actually* have any reasoning - the fact she was able to explain the read later is proof of this. it is more likely that she in this angle is either town, or scum attempting to fake what she thinks is typical town play for her.
so yes, I was essentially trying to correct you on what I perceived as an incorrect argument - I will openly disagree with arguments I think are wrong - but I am 100% willing to discuss the specifics of it. it was not intended to be condescending and I apologize if it came across that way

I don't particularly feel strongly either way about MM's claim. I thought I had a rough idea of what dave was getting at but I think I misread somewhere so I'll shut up about it now
I don't like ABR recently, actually. I am fairly sure that I read smth in mafia discussion where he talked a bit about the way he played scum, and his objectives as scum go beyond just "trying to look town" and "pushing mislynches" - in fact, I'm pretty sure he explicitly mentioned trying to get people to claim. I think his push on MM followed by the way he completely 180'ed and now doesn't want to lynch MM at all might be a case of this. but this is just speculation
I don't like the fact DGB pushed for a claim out of someone she was supposedly reading as town. and no, "boredom" is not in any way a valid excuse
I'm currently taking Jingle's warning about multiball in full force. there are too many ppl I think are scum or could be scum but do not make sense as scum with each other

@dave, scratch this, I mixed up how it went again. for posterity's sake, I still don't think anyone would just blatantly lie about a read in the way you're claiming she did (and I explained why!).

I AM GROOT! And the information that would be useful to scum is already out in the open. Your flavor claim, if you would please. You may continue to ignore dave's requests, I have no problem there.

The question you are asked is trivial. Why aren't you answering it?
This one post has blasted my town read on you to oblivion.
You claimed vanilla, now you don't want to give mafia "more info???"

Lack of interest in the neighbor PT.
I hate neighbor as a role, but there it is.

There have been
four
posts since I last posted in the Neighbor topic. Nothing I really wanted to commit on, you've been bored, and oh, yeah, MONKEY'S BEEN A SCUM READ.We've actually played together, I'd expect you of all people in this Town to know how to read me.
This is just piss poor. My mouth is literally just fucking dropping at this.

Yeah this also bothers me. And MM's useless vote is bothering me too. He needs to turn his game around.

I'd lynch him because he annoys me, LOL... but I don't have the same gut feeling you do. Convince me?

1. did you miss the part where I've been scumreading Kise basically this entire game?
2. I'd love to know why you think OMGUS is actually more likely to come from scum than town, or where I OMGUS'ed. being afraid to call out someone attacking you is far more of a scum tell than being willing to do so, nor have I called out anyone explicitly because they were attacking me.
your push on me is pretty shit and looks opportunistic. the only reasonable concern is the first one, since I know I have problems with that sometimes, but the rest, meh. also of note is MM posturing "if one flips town I'm pushing the other".

and I don't even fucking know what to make of DGB
she spends the entire game WK'ing MM, but then flip flops based on that one post (which admittedly is a pretty bad post, but it was definitely not the first)? it also happens to come at a point where MM might not get lynched.
another question, @DGB: if you supposedly hate neighborhoods so much, why do you think "lack of engagement" in a neighborhood is a scum tell?
