yeah, prawn linked the exact wiki article with the gunsmith stating that mafia doctors wouldn't show as having a gun.

I do think the setup was a scumsided (as I mentioned to fakegod maybe 60%ish scum wins if you could magically keep playing it with future players not knowing about the previous games) but it was the play by everyone that made it unwinnable given that Not_Mafia said that the game was normal (as iece pointed out, so if you find the gunsmith wiki article like prawn did you know there could be a false doctor inno) and that a search of either of the flipped scumshould come up pretty quickly come up as them being the members of Strega, with the only unflipped member having healing powers.

The gunsmith result was less likely to be guessed to be have a false innocent but balancing for player's role related expectations really shouldn't be something a mod needs to do in a theme game, and because of those player expectations if brantz had any actual innocents instead of just the false one they would have been much more powerful. Plus in this specific instance there was certainly some more thought that could have gone into hiraki's claim as well as just scumhunting in general that could have at least made the playerlist think a little harder about the individual players in the game and why they may or may not have been scum. (hiraki played well in that looked really active but actually had very little concrete reads and content this game, and i still think yakko was basically the towniest person in the game for his mindset in the first few days aside from fakegod being obvtown for being so confident and blustery in his reads.)

Also the jailkeeper dying night 1 hurt town a lottttttttt.

and i think i said it in the chat with fakegod but didn't mention it here- I don't think fakegod's a bad person or anything outside of mafia games, and he is a good mod- I was just REALLY frustrated with his actual play and how he acted here.

I agree that the game was fairly well balanced. It may have been a little overboard having both a miller and a godfather for the gunsmith, but the mafia having a doc had to be concerned the entire time that there was another killing role. Thanks a lot for modding nm, it was a very fun game (sorry about posting before the game was officially over.)

The funniest interaction I had this game in hindsight was on day 2 when I was asking Hiraki about his reads (he was conf town in my mind at that point because of the negative result). I was trying to figure out how much I should trust him in his reads for the rest of the game based on his criteria for finding people to be scummy. From his perspective it probably looked like pressure, and he reacted to it as if it was. The whole interaction makes a lot more sense now, knowing that he was scum the whole time.

I don't think we would've assumed that Strega flavor was relevant, since the ruleset stipulated that the town PRs had simply been randomized. Chihiro makes sense as someone who investigates negative, though.

fakeclaims got randomized yeah but the scumteam was pretty clearly had their own little flavor separate from that, maybe not obvious at first but I don't think it was hard to figure out after two scum flipping members of strega.

Maybe? But I mean Takaya is the leader and just flipped Goon, so I don't think it would necessarily be inferred that scum had flavored abilities.

Encryptor is maybe more like Jin because he's "the brains" or whatever.

I think the only draw of the fakeclaim was that Igor was the third fakeclaim and I do not think it is a very good fake claim considering that every other character was P3 related and Igor is in every Persona game.
