I totally get deathfisaro's frustration. I really do. I've been frustrated enough before to want to do that, but there's just no comparison to be made between the like 90 seconds of "Take that!" vindication/pleasure that would result compared to the forever downside of destroying your reputation and ability to ever play again.

: Yeah, everyone has their own preferred terminology and that's okay, you have a right to self identify. There are some terms that are safer bets than others if you don't know a stranger's preferences, but it's okay to not be up to date on the preferred terminology for every group out there and there's never going to be a consensus that makes everyone happy. It is good to assume good-faith when someone is not using our preferred language but is trying to be respectful. It's good to take things on a case by case basis. In Oranje's case if he had written a politically correct term like "intellectually disabled" instead of the r-word, it would have still been unacceptable, because he would have still been using it as a slur. I know what you mean about tiptoeing too and that's annoying in its own way.

@Kuribo I'm glad you're doing better. That's a lot to deal with. I absolutely agree that telling someone to kill themselves is unacceptable behaviour. In a game like this, people are going to insult each other when they get upset, but it's a lot more fun if they get creative about it. If I'm wrong about Oranje Crush, he could tell me my theory sounds like it was concocted by a committee of drunken walruses or something, you know? It means the same thing as what he said earlier, it just causes less accidental carnage to bystanders.

you're right that it's not a crutch and i don't want it to be one. I have been hoping that playing here will improve my people reading skills and my communication skills. So far my tendency is too much to take things people say at face value and to be swayed by other people's opinions. Sometimes when people ask me what I think I accidentally write what everyone else thinks instead. When I do get caught in a tunnel it's hard to knock me out of it but I've been trying to work on that too. I'm also overly verbose and can't easily do concise, but the writing style where I'm trying really hard to explain what's going on in my head all the time is probably an autie thing for me because I don't know what bits are obvious that I can leave out, or I don't know what other people are thinking half the time so I wish they'd just tell me.

I think it is premature to expect insane levels of knowledge of technical details about a game I've been playing for a month, even if I have read a lot of the wiki.

have opinions, but I've seen in my previous game that my opinions are less accurate than random chance, and that makes it hard to be confident in new opinions I might form. I'm hoping that'll improve over time.

The reason i mentioned it is because i felt it would be anti-town to withhold information that might help other people read me correctly at this juncture when I don't know how many days we have left until LYLO. as i said, it doesn't change my role pm -- I was diagnosed many years before the PM was sent.

I would find it distasteful for me to bring it up if i were scum, but I also don't want to create a meta that I only bring it up as town because I'm not comfortable with that either. maybe i should just put it in my profile or something :/ If Deathfisaro hadn't done what he did I probably wouldn't have mentioned it until the endgame when I would have asked if I should've mentioned it to avoid being mislynched. I don't want to be townread for it OR scumread for it. It is a background piece of information that can help people to read me. That's all.

The first paragraph is relatable. You should stop saying it at all though. People will know that you're wierd/different/whatever based on getting to know you. You using this shortcut actually hurts. Some people have learned how to read me. I get in tunnels and I don't know why people feel the way they do, and tend to think fake when I see an over emotional response without a contextual reason behind it.

Yet, if you don't let yourself be vulnerable to the occasional mislynch, you'll never be correctly read but just the kid who uses his condition to guilt everyone else.

So I'm not doing that.

Put your reads out. Push em. You can't do worse than I've already done this game. Figure out what data works best to you, try to stick with that.

I'm townreading narninian at the moment because he's been really honest about his power and his choices, even when Marquis died he was honest about what happened.

i can't tell if i was townreading or experiencedreading oranje after his iso but deathfisaro did convince me of his theory about oranje and chivri saw something too (i wish she'd share it with the rest of the class). i might try rereading the oranje wall i wrote again.

I want to try reading bulba again even though i read him yesterday without making notes because i want to know if my scumread is just that his ability makes me nervous or if there's something there. if bbmolla's is shorter i'll reread that one first.

those are the things i feel strongest about at the moment.

Yeah, I think most of us cone here and play this to escape, at least a little bit from our daily shit. I am also clinically depressed, and at the end of the day, no matter what goes on in a game I am glad I have this.
