Looks like all of the speculation on day 2 was on the money after all - I'm somewhat amazed that some people figured this out so early when I had absolutely no idea that this was a 2 scum game.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to play with such an accomplished group of players, but I'll admit that I was starting to feel a little out of my depth, especially given that this was only my second game on the site. I was almost relieved to be killed when I was, because I really had no idea where I was going to go on day 3 after being wrong about MM. Turns out I was closer than I thought, with VitR being top 3 in my scumlist, which actually goes to show that the method I was using on day 2 may not have been that far off. I'll probably give it another run the next time I'm in a similar situation.

Thanks to all for the game, I learned a lot. Congrats to VitR and thanks to Stoof for the mod.

I think I already know, but I'm curious to see if I'm right - VitR, why did you kill me night 2?

I agree with Erg0 that some of you guys are heavy hitters. :)
I'm kind of curious why the game was considered a theme game, though - with a completely vanilla setup and with roles that have no effect on the game (Which I thought they might until I was corrected), I'd almost say it should have gone in the normal mini - but, then we would know it wasn't a zany wacky setup.
I was expecting to actually play calvinball, but that aside, I enjoyed the game. I don't think I ever really questioned VitR - the townies were way too busy dementedly lynching each other to really look at the low-flying scum.

Stoofer, if you have the various PM's between you and me during this game feel free to post them.
I replaced into Chess Mafia for 6 months, and all I got was a win and this lousy sig.

Also, I want to target Machivellian-Mafia, to see if anything happens.

(You haven't said that I don't have a night choice  )

OK. I'll send you your result during Night 2 (remind me if I forget).

Thok did remind me but I just ignored him...

Mostly to throw people off. After EmpTyger's lynch, I felt there were just too many experienced players to take out with nightkills. I decided to keep them all alive and hope they would start pointing fingers at each other. I figured that would be the best way to slip by unnoticed.

Killing you was a way of giving myself cover to hang back a bit, and also a way of framing LML.

Bah sitecrashes, bah massreplacement, and bah real-life stresses. Not that I can complain with the result. Which maintains my undefeated when lynched D1 record. Thanks all and mod for the game.

For the record, the mafia did *not* have control over the N1 kill. So we knew something was up, just not what. We did not get any clue that it was mountainous either. In fact, I thought there was a small chance Skruffs *was* a cop with sanity issues.

My pregame requests were to be Hobbes and to get the bowl of cereal given to me inthread. What else did people ask for? (Though I realize there are few original players left.)

This was an interesting game for me, since I discovered a tell of my own, though I’d rather not say what it is since I’m not sure quite yet how to avoid it or if it’s even avoidable. (Though I’m rather sure it’s not what LML was hinting [bluffing] at.) But there’s very little I would have done differently in retrospect. If my work and Stoofer’s absences had lined up differently, I probably would have played my reveal of Skruffs and Thok differently, but as things were I felt it was more important to get information out than to try to futilely dodge the deadline.

And for the record, I *never* sought a modkill- Stoofer can attest to this. (With some PMs more trying than Thok’s. I joked that by the game’s end, I would have challenged have of the rules.)

About the mechanics:
The deadline mechanic, imho, encourages stalling. (Which I’m going to stipulate is a bad thing.) If a player wants to lynch X, they can wait it out instead of being active. If a player doesn’t care if X is lynched, they can be passive. The only time the procedure has an effect is if there’s a competitive lynch. But any advantage gained there would seemed to be outweighed by the inertia when, if things do stall, the stalling is prolonged through extra periods.

Likewise the no-claiming mechanic, while good intentioned, imho is more trouble than it’s worth. Players cannot, by definition, completely control their tells, so what happens when, say, Thok makes a slip, and I catch it? Modkilling Thok is absurd. Replacing me and hoping no one else notices is absurd. It’s just a hoop for players to jump through. I appreciate what the mod was trying to do with the game. But, if you want to have an utterly pure setup, I feel it’d be easier and more satisfying without it being forcefully imposed by the mod. I mean, even with the draconian restriction, the setup was still a topic of discussion.

VitR:
Excellently played. This wasn’t an easy victory; you made it look like one.

Mod:
Thanks again for putting up with me. And even despite the criticism, I do appreciate the effort into the game- especially the little things, like the comics for modscenes. And modding a game through a sitecrash is a hassle- good job keeping the game alive.

I missed the entire rule-making session before the game.
I was threatened with being mod killed if I didn't rhyme in iamec pantameter though. :(
