I didn't even know I was "fishing" till it was brought up. Didn't even know what it was.

For the newbie

basically this is a setup that is going to be rather confusing, it is a upick and it is an RC game. Which adds more complexity than your standard games. Not positive, but most of the time upick games are also what are called role madness which means far more PR heavy than the usual games,

An example Deo (Titus) claimed hated, which means it takes one less vote to lynch that slot than normal.

With 15 players it would normally take 8, but for a hated slot it would only take 7. Which is why she claimed like she did early on. Miller is another role that often gets claimed early because of its negative utility. In general though, most of the time it is not to town's interest to claim roles, even VT early on.

I would definitely recommend if you have not yet signed up for a newbie game, to do so. They have a fairly simple setup that varies slightly but also have players who help with teaching you about game mechanics, especially the Inexperienced Challenged player often called IC but not to be confused with Innocent Child also called IC which is a PR that some games have.

Haha, thank you. I've played through a Newbie game and I have a basic understanding of the regular game, it's the Role Madness part that's foreign to me here.

• Don't expect me to be god. I won't be the town that will find scum in less than 10 pages nor the scum that will fool you all.

RVS (Random Voting Stage)

It's a phase where votes are usually random or comes with a joke on it. This phase is mostly used to pull info and it lasts until somebody picks on something.

L-# and Hammer

A lynch is reached as soon someone gets over half the votes.
L-# stands for # votes to reach that lynch. L-1 means that player is one vote away from getting lynched.
Hammer is the vote that seals the lynch.

The reason we don't lynch too early in the game is to gather more information. We have 2 weeks of discussion and by lynching too early, you deny information to the town and can possibly mislynch a town PR. You should always call L-1 (preferably in bold in a new line) when you put someone one vote away from being lynched. If you see that, don't put another vote on them before declaring intent, there are some exceptions though. Doing that before declaring intent isn't scummy, but anti-town, which might lead to you being policy lynched.

MyLo/LyLo

This is the point of the game where town can't lynch another town (Mislynch and Lose) or they have to lynch scum (Lynch (scum) or Lose). It's worth being more cautious here as scum can coordinate a quickhammer on a wagon if someone misvotes, I recommend using FoS (Finger of Suspicion).

TIP: If you see a wagon at L-1 during this stage, you can say "not hammering" as scum would usually quickhammer a town wagon.

When it's MyLo/LyLo:
6 players alive with no scum dead (MyLo)
5 players alive with no scum dead (LyLo)
4 players alive with one scum dead (MyLo)
3 players alive with one scum dead (LyLo)

When to claim

Sometimes claiming might not be ideal. If you're a PR, you'll most likely be nightkilled/roleblocked (if there's one) next night. If you're a VT, you'll help scum narrow down the list of PRs.

There are some situations where you should claim:
When you're at L-1 and someone declares intent.
When you got an incriminating result.
When you feel there's no reason to not claim anymore.
When town agrees on a massclaim.

Some expressions we use

Wagon: When someone accumulates votes.
AI/NAI: Alignment Indicative/Non-Alignment Indicative.
Town/Scum tells: Something town/scum is more likely to do than scum/town.
Sheeping: Following someone's read.
LyLo: Lynch or Lose. When town must lynch scum to not lose.
MyLo: Mislynch and Lose. When town can't lynch another town.
FoS: Finger of Suspicion.
Lurk: Avoid getting engaged in discussion.
Meta: How someone played other games.
L-#: Number of votes needed to lynch.
Hammer: Vote that seals the lynch.
Twilight: After the hammer vote, before the mod locks the thread and flips the lynchee.
Doc: Doctor
JK: Jailkeeper
BP: Bulletproof
RB: Roleblocker

Actually there is usually at least one VT even in role madness, but not always. Recently in a presidential game with 9 players, I was the only VT in the game. I was Hillary Clinton and our team lost the game because the two scum were just THAT good plus they confused one townie into thinking I was scum, then they voted for Jiffy who was at work and unable to log in and the two scum plus the other townie speed lynched him.

And I was wait a minute you just lynched Jiffy while he could not play?

Scum team was Kuribo and a hydra of Scout and Foxbird. Both scum pulled of majorly great fake claims that were believable.

In the 42 player role madness there were some players who were basically VT just called citizens and neighbors but had no real PR attached to them.
